This topic is making me want to see more anime … such a shame that it’s not exactly the hottest property on streaming services, right ?

True. I was disappointed Knights of Sidonia disappeared from Netflix, and I have to go over to Amazon to see past the first series of Attack on Titan.

Off the top of my head I did enjoy the anime movie Blame!  as well as the series Violet Evergarden, both on Netflix.

There is always https://www.crunchyroll.com/ for most of the stuff… unless they are licensed to other networks.

    Try find “Food Wars!” 😉

Sadly @sundancer Food Wars has just left Crunchroll but IS available (along with several other shows and some surprising nostalgia beats) on HiDive. However Crunchyroll is now receiving all the content that Funimation was streaming due to their merger – Funi is still a thing, but they are not getting any new content. It is worth having a dive into Netflix & Amazon Primes selections though as they do have some gems hidden away (really hidden in Prime’s case  god their search engine sucks). And somewhat surprisingly Channel 4 in the UK’s More 4 digital service has some genuinely killer anime available. Again though it can be a pain to find it sometimes…

There are some other options as well – Retrocrush has not expanded into Europe yet but does have a growing catalogue of retro hits. And several shows and distributers have official YouTube pages that either have shows just available in play lists, or they do regularly streams of them – Gundam Info is particularly good for this as they often show subs & dubs of the Gundam shows and films.

And to say Anime is not a hot property for streaming services is not entirely true – Netflix at least have forked over big bucks for a number of shows to make them “Netflix Originals”, the rights for Neon Genesis Evangelion were not exactly cheap (to say nothing of the cost to redub them). Plus they have seemingly gotten on the Gundam train, what with adding the 3 Mobile Suit Gundam movies and Chars Counter Attack ahead of the global premier for Gundam Hathaway mere weeks after it’s Japanese cinematic debut, then funding an all new live-action Gundam movie from the bod behind Kong: Skull Island (who is an avowed Gundam fan)
