Had some fun this afternoon rating games i own and have owned.

RuneWars got a low rating, because I sold it. Loved painting it, but just couldn’t find opponents. The game just didn’t feel strong enough for me to become a gaming advocate as i have for other games at my club. I will turn up with 2 painted Saga armies and teach that, but RuneWars just didn’t inspire me to do the same. My question is should I tick “i own this game” because I don’t want people to think my rating is being passed having never owned it. (Just hating on it because it is not WHFB or something like that)

I really like the 5 factors you rate upon because it gives you a nice structure to give the games a fair rating. I think one of the factors i found hardest to judge was whether you recommend the game or not. I found one game I scored as a 6 out of 10, but I was still willing to recommend it because some of the key features of the game were solid and might be really enjoyed by another war gamer, it just didn’t tick some of my gaming boxes for me that would have scored it higher.

Just one update needed that i am surprised was missed from the list of games is Warhammer Underworlds – Shadespire.

The game is getting tons of traction. Apart from new releases I guess there isn’t a lot to discuss about the game? It feels as though the tactics and deck building aspects have been left entirely to the individual players and I would really love some suggested decks. I am not a deck builder fan and would like to see GW or a third party on YouTube to offer some input on basic competitive decks. I am not that competitive and not really interested in heavily investing time into the meta of a game like this. I can play fluffy lists with me guessing what would generally be a good list to play with family and new comers to the game, but my gaming club friends have far out stripped my knowledge of the game and I would be pounded into the ground with my core set “beginners start with this deck first” deck. I also have the Chosen Axes set, so I have plenty of cards to choose from.

Battle reports for the game aren’t really as popular as other when looking at YouTube. I only say this because, as one example, Miniwargaming.com have to run their battle reports schedule heavily on the hit rates and popularity of their videos to ensure they continue to attract Vault members, to get the revenue and to keep the lights and cameras on. If the game was more popular battle reports wise they would film and publish one every week. They don’t.

BoW please add Shadespire so I can give it a fairly positive rating and maybe a review.

I intend to eventually do a full review of all of the games I have played – so far only done one for The Walking Dead – All Out War as it is one of my favourite games.

Visit warhammerunderworlds.com. Theres is a full card library there as well as suggested decks for each faction, focusing on specific tactics. A few competition winners decks were also posted there. I checked there today and it seems to be down for maintenance. Keep an eye on it if youre looking for competitive deck builds.
