I was meant to be released early this year but they had  to redo a lot of the cgi

I know they have introduced a character thats isnt in the book to try and tie it altogether as its written in the first person and a lot of the action is hearsay

Isn’t Fox doing War of the Worlds too ?

Or is the BBC version the same as the Fox one ?
    It’s too much of a coincidence …

@unclejimmy I only do two types of jokes : bad ones and offensive ones …
I can’t do the latter, so I’ll stick to the former :-p

There is an expansion/alternate ruleset for Wings of Glory featuring Tripods, which was one of many kickstarters I’ve had delivered in the past few months.

    WW1 Wings of Glory Line

An awesome track if there ever was one, right ?

    It’s on Spotify too :

And a ‘new’ version with Liam Neeson as the narrator :

    I think it’s missing something …

Its CBS thats doing the one in the US and its set in modern times

Strangely this BBC version is the first cinematic or television version thats been set in the original Victorian/Edwardian timeline

I just saw the Fox-commercial. Modern times it is.

Is there some sort of WotW anniversary ?

Two mini series is a bit much for a coincidence.

So I have been less active this last week or so I started my new job.

    Anyway

Pledge – and completed is the Chimera for Warcry. And I should have finished pictures of the Enforcers for Necromunda.

    1. Terrain and terrain set-up. Do you just fling it together or does it have to look correct?

I like terrain to look right. So it all matches to a theme. This is easier if you have some stuff that works for multiple games and scales e.g. Desert Terrain. Works great for Necromunda, or Age of Sigmar, or Adeptus Titanicus.

    2. I watched a video where they were showing off a starter-set. Are you a straight from the box kind of girl or do you buy a rulebook, a few minis, some other bits, then get going? What do you think about “starter-sets”?

I like starter sets as I can get all I need for a self-contained game which requires no-one else to commit to collecting, but they can still get a game. I typically collect two factions for every game I collect for this reason, plus to run demos. Also good starter kits have a lot of value in terms of models, terrain, and gaming accessories.

    3. Did some reading to pass the time. Books to movies tend to not work very well, but is there any you like/love?

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. But that is because of how it was written, so the TV and book version (and even comic book version) bring something new to the table that the other version don’t.

    4. Comedy sucks. Not all, but most. Your favourite double-act(s)?

    Rebo and Zooty.

@torros – in the trailer he is with his girlfriend? I will give it a blast. If nothing else the battle scenes will be decent. A version that is set when it was written is what I have always wanted. We will pretend the Tom “i’m totally in the closet” Cruise version never happened. If that screetching brat was my daughter I would have fed her to the aliens myself!

@limburger – I doubt if anyone in here does not have that album. 200pts. I can’t listen to ‘Forever Autumn’ without pissing myself laughing when he sings, “…and the Steamer pulled away.” I am laughing now!

What new version? I’ll give that a miss if you don’t mind. Liam Neeson my arse. The only other person that could have voiced WotW, apart from Mr. Burton, would have been Vincent Price.

@doctorether – I have to admit, this is a bit late. However, a new job is always a pain in the rear. What is your new job…bank, blow, or safe? Unless you have started wearing a dress and they have made you a Professor…

Now that is amazing. 1000pts. I really, really like that. It is a vile and wet day here today and I have decided on a “cat day in”. All my beasts are settled by radiators or on cushions for the day. Even Harry, my neighbours cat, is asleep on top of the kitchen cuboard.

    1. “I like terrain to look right. So it all matches to a theme.” – that is what I like to hear. 1000pts. I suppose the game does define what you are going to try and create. Desert games are quite easy!

    2. I have to say the Infinity starter sets are brilliant. The new versions of their terrain is amazing. It really is. I have a set going spare if anyone wants it.

    3. Neil even gets a mention in a Tori Amos song! Lucky man. Not a massive fan. Maybe it’s an age thing. I did watch a thing on Netfux called ‘Mindhunter’. I thought it would be naff, but it is really good. I wonder if the killers are CGI as they look so much like the real people. Way too much! Plenty of detail and as I have studies many of the cases it was interesting to see how they approached them. I would give them a 8/10.

    4. Zoot, Zoot! 1000000pts Awesome answer…you have made my day.

It is so dark here today it is like early evening! I have even been out this morning…I walked Heather to the top of the hill and went to buy a bottle of Lucozade. Without any bravado – I am wrecked. I feel like I have just done P-Company and my legs are like rubber.

The thing is, I want to have a lie down, but I am expecting my new amplifier in the post this morning and if I lay down it will turn-up and by the time I get downstairs I will have missed it.

While I love a good dose of satire like the next person, a lot of that “humour” just comes off as whataboutism, and punching down.

Just as a reminder, please try and keep things focused on regular chat and the miniatures and tabletop stuff. I have had to moderate a few posts and remove images.

Of course it has to look correct. What kind of German do you think I am! 😉

    2. I watched a video where they were showing off a starter-set. Are you a straight from the box kind of girl or do you buy a rulebook, a few minis, some other bits, then get going? What do you think about “starter-sets”?

Love starter boxes. Especially if they are not that expensive. (below 50 USD/GBP/Euro) Good examples are:

    • Tanks
    • X-Wing
    • Battletech Beginners Box

Even a box like the BBX isn’t a complete game (the rules are very basic) it’s great value (20 Euro for two ‘Mechs, a map and some terrain and 8 cardboard ‘Mechs. Hard to so say no to that)

    3. Did some reading to pass the time. Books to movies tend to not work very well, but is there any you like/love?

I personally like the LotR movies. The extended cut is really great. “Good Omens” was done brilliantly! But that’s about it (at least what I can think of)

    4. Comedy sucks. Not all, but most. Your favourite double-act(s)?

As a child I loved Laurel and Hardy (in Germany known as “Dick & Doof” (fat & stupid)) and Richard Pryor & Gene Wilder where a riot.  Also Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.

@unclejimmy now I’m snorting trying to hold in a loud laugh at ‘Steamer pulling away’.

I always wondered why it was called war of the worlds rather than the culling of earth as in pretty much every version we take one hell of a pasting. Now a wargame version.. That would be interesting. With the added caveat that earth obviously just loses. All hail our Martian tripod overlords.

    What infinity scenary is it?

And Im off to my own start on Orktober. There is a thread elsewhere on the forums for likeminded individuals wanting to do something Ork-themed for this month (Orc themed too!).

    Orktober 2019 WAAAAAGH!

“Dust it off” as in “clean it before putting any paint on it”? 😉

@sundancer That joke was terrible. I love it. What happened to the Panda Bear who joined a Pyramid scheme? The got BAMBOOzled!!!!

@woldenspoons I love the KoW fishmen! Nice bases and choice of colours 

    @unclejimmy

Is it? I better check Netflix then.

Fire surround? I don’t understand what you mean.

I did eat them, they were good.

I have more Plague Marines to do (current goal is the Death Guard half of Dark Imperium) but with all the different details, textures and my choice of colours it’s a slow grind, sadly. Its very hard to get motivated. The pipes will be bases and I will go back over my previous posts and label everything

@sundancer Yep get a clean, big and soft brush and clean the dust that has been collecting on said minis.
