@limburger Honestly I’d still go with the vehicle flavor figures. My housemate just got back from working on a drilling site for the past month and a half and he pulled up Borderlands 3 after he finished DLing it. My first thought seeing the opening credits and the vehicles in game makes me want to build trukks and other mechanized mayhem for greenskins. I have absolutely no use for them but I just want to slap parts together and make it look cool. Then again I might be developing a penchant for checking out Damaged magazine from AK Interactive and with stuff from Fine Scale Modeler. Weathering is such a cool effect for large models.
@stainless001 come on over and enjoy the orky banter.
October 14, 2019 at 3:10 pm #1447128I hath been summoned by @horati0nosebl0wer, great to see Orktober hasn’t been forgotten about 🙂
Just got my Orc boi primed today with the airbrush, should be starting on the skin tones tomorrow!
October 14, 2019 at 5:53 pm #1447154Da great Waaagh! calls every greenblooded Ork to da fight!
Yeah, they’re definitely not interesting as a unit unless you get a proper mob of them.
It kind of sucks that GW don’t add more variety to the green tide … even the Orks themselves don’t have the variety to make the mob look like a mob unless you add in a few AoS orks to the mix to be honest.I also discovered that grots used to build tankettes … but those aren’t in the v8 Ork codex

This is interesting : Gretchin Kill team … LOL

I think it might need some colour
October 15, 2019 at 12:14 am #1447254@horati0nosebl0wer yeah, I used to use the 1mm rod. The Zinge did those 1mm rivets and I never looked back. £2 for 175 is worth it just in time saved.
October 15, 2019 at 3:29 am #1447261I’m Done! I now will officially be orkified forevermore for all to see.
All know the name Horatio Noseblower and tremble with fear!!!
October 15, 2019 at 3:57 am #1447277@stainless001 We can’t forget Orktober! It always comes before JanuWAAAAGHry. I hope to see the bust progress soon.
@limburger Great to see grots. I’m sad to hear that the grot tanks were scrapped for the latest edition. I know that there are some on offer tnd I picked one up to send to one of my brothers (someday).
@deaddave That is awesome! It definitely fills the tablespace for that scale. I look forward to the paint job and I’ll be sure to check out those rivets.
@mage Yes, color is needed. Red!
October 15, 2019 at 6:10 am #1447290Pity it suffers from planet killer on rock syndrome ? Seriously nice work. Think you’ve done a great job on this
October 15, 2019 at 8:43 am #1447301I like your Orc Kap’n
And yeah thanks. I was thinking of doing a dull faded, weathered red after I posted it: have it reminiscent of old school 5th edition Black Orcs with black, red, silver etc.
October 15, 2019 at 9:48 am #1447337@deaddave great work! Brilliant concept and the end result looks appropriately intimidating.
@horati0nosebl0wer congrats on the new avatar 🙂 Let the pillaging and looting commence!
@mage great work on the skin tones, nice to see a more natural subtle look on the greenskins.
@kiranamida great start! Hope the project is progressing well.
October 15, 2019 at 3:12 pm #1447413Got the first skin tone layer added to my Orc Fury model from Scale 75 today. Have to say, as a first time airbrush user I’m really loving it.
Going to get the highlights on tomorrow, aiming to set aside like 15-30 minutes a day to get this done before the end of the month.
October 15, 2019 at 5:43 pm #1447438@mage that dark/black metal looks great … what colours did you use ?
And yeah, it does need a spash of colour and if possible a bit rough so it looks like the gretchins painted it ….
At least that is what I’m thinking of doing when I get to painting my horde.@horati0nosebl0wer great looking kapt’n.
The grot-tanks are a Forgeworld product these days and they’re selling them at a price that makes the new Eldar boxed set look cheap.

120$ for 4 of these tiny things (or 300$ for 8 of these things and a grot landship variant). They would have to be made from precious metals at that price.
It’s the kind of thing that’s begging to be scratch-built from a bit of plastic card & tubes. The tracks are probably the only tricky bit.I definitely am going to visit the scale model convention this weekend, because that might be a great source of the sort of materials one would need to build them.
