My urge to get more greenskin goodness is strong from all this back and forth about the great orky hordes. I will prove to be stronger as I just got done with filling out the Backerkit form for the Raid on the Temple of Serpents Kickstarter and sending it off. Yep, I will own a real mass battle army despite myself.
The work on the Warboss is still stalled as I have commission work again. Money to paint figures? Yes, please (I’ll buy more minis and related stuff like display bases). The good news is that the VMC Natural Steel is quite smooth on the bosspole amd other assorted metal parts I used it on. I’m finding that, from other pieces, as thin a coat as I put down intermediary glosscoat layers are necessary to avoid rubbing away my work.
@mage I look forward to seeing your supa killy stompy death machines
@teddymademedoit Gorkamorka in fantasy? I’m wondering what kind of warbuggies you might be able to scratchbuild with Chaos parts and different bitz looted from say Empire kits. An Imperial steam tank hull working off the high intensity power source of squiggs inside ransacked parts from a Skaven Doomwheel?
Good to get the green in.
@sundancer Gorkamorka rereleased was nearly done with Speed Freeks. I think that the kitbashing element was only managed in small part with the variation of which special models wou could order outside the base box.
@limburger Ork names are always fun to play with in general. I’ll get back to you on my Bloodbowl team.
September 12, 2019 at 7:21 am #1434953@horati0nosebl0wer I do remember Orcs and Gobboes having a predisposition towards chariots…
And who needs bikes when you got wolves, boars and squigs?
This game makes itself.
September 12, 2019 at 7:53 am #1434957@horati0nosebl0wer Yes! I’m getting a very Jim Henderson Labyrinth feel from a steam tank powered by squigs ?
I fancy they would also take advantage of some of the beasts roaming around the realms, I have plans for a very big crawly thing for this warband
@woldenspoons is right this things just writes itself
What we thinking though WaaaghCry or Orcry (or Orrukcry ?)?
September 12, 2019 at 10:30 am #1435045GorcaMorca obviously.
September 12, 2019 at 5:21 pm #1435113I was kind of planning to do a mix with one of the warbikes from Speedfreaks and the boars from the ‘start collecting:ironjawz’ box.
However the beasties didn’t look like they could be modified by me.
@horati0nosebl0wer there isn’t any kit-bashing in speedfreaks as it is all about speed 🙁
The new buggies do look really good, but they don’t have any options. Every bit is planned and engineered to fit in one specific spot. This is great for beginners, but it does suck if you want more than a single version of these vehicles.September 12, 2019 at 8:55 pm #1435125September 14, 2019 at 4:20 pm #1435737Ok everybody, as @woldenspoons has mentioned he has no Orktober project of green goodness. There is a parcel enroute to be delivered at some point if the blasted EU rulings on postage work out easily that will alleviate that problem. We will all stand by to await a progress report of arrival and follow up with real painting.
A change of gears for me as I’ll be putting my ork warboss from last year out for competition. I’m sadly behind with the painting of this years ork but it will be done before the end of Orktober. Commission work comes first since it brings in cash… and maybe changes to other builds on the backburner that caught my fancy for a moment *whistling innocently*. Right, anybody else looking to make some mad grot stompaz or ‘avin’ humie bootin good fun?
September 14, 2019 at 5:51 pm #1435758I’m currently vowing to myself to resist just using Contrast paints on them. Also very tempted to do an alternate skin tone on them. No, not gold.
September 14, 2019 at 8:33 pm #1435805A work-in-progress view
100% interactive with automatic re-rolls.
Not finished yet, but that’s also because I’m making things as complex as possible in order to maximize some of the new things possible in code. None of that is ‘visible’ to users.September 14, 2019 at 8:38 pm #1435809Did someone say alternate skintones…
This is part of my Gloomspite warband for WaaaghCry (which is now on my predicted text, huzzah!)
Underworlds just got a bit greener too…
What you guys think of the new Gobbos?
September 14, 2019 at 9:34 pm #1435853September 14, 2019 at 9:40 pm #1435855September 14, 2019 at 9:44 pm #1435857September 14, 2019 at 10:20 pm #1435875@teddymademedoit that’s just Creepy … am thinking of doing mine purple, but I need to build the lot first.
New wolfriders look great.
Isn’t there a new greenskins codex planned for AoS that mixes Ironjawz and their savage cousins in one book ?I hope they’re making new spider riders soon-ish.
At the moment they’re web-only and look a bit too ancient compared to the rest of the grotz. They also lack the creepy crawler vibe that spiders should have.I think I am going to add WarCry to my list and use it as an excuse to buy more greenskins … 😉
September 19, 2019 at 11:07 am #1437851Thanks to @horati0nosebl0wer for crazily sending me Orks across the Ocean I have the starting of a project in mind…
Turning a box of Stormboyz into chaos raptors. Using parts I already have. Gulp.
I may even make this a project. But then we all know how lazy I am.
