@ceppie You can get a Chaos Rhino but they are generic.  The next one I do will have octopus tentacles coming out of it!

@onlyonepinman are those Frostgrave Barbarians?  They are splendid models and that is a fine paint job.

@robert yes they are. I have been mightily impressed with the quality of them too. I am adding them to my collection of generic RPG miniatures so I opted for contrast paints and I think they’re doing their job just fine. As someone who enjoys painting though I am interspersing batches of 5 “minions” like the Barbarians, with proper painting (for want of a better word). There’s a big, annual gaming weekend in January and I have a large “to paint” list and a house move between then and now.

I keep looking at that rhino and seeing the sculpting and it really does look awesome. But I can’t help thinking that it would be funny if the tentacles were lifting the rhino up, and running with it

1. My last three martial arts instructors. The first two because I think they were posing frauds and I’d love to level them. Then my last teacher to see simply how I’d do and how age is treating him.

2. Ah that is a two pronged question. For a pee its in and out, done and dusted, with minimal collateral and making sure my hands are washed.

For a dump it’s a top up between reading a book, magazine, using my phone or my Nintendo Switch. I have a small old style wooden tv guide / magazine / newspaper wrack adjacent for convenience and to make sure there is always something on hand.

As for the euphemisms, I go to exorcise poo demons. We are all Playdough machines in a way.

3. Depends on how your temperament was and what your regrets were. In my case not standing my ground more with everyone. Never played team sports so nerd by default.

Now, call me Mr. Conspiracy-Theory, but I think it is ‘someone’ being a choob and not reading the rules full before sticking his oar in. Then again, it might be the Mandela Effect again. 1. I have never had someone who I thought was a fraud. I have met a few ‘instructors’ who were supposed to be good, but weren’t all that impressive. I went to a JKD seminar with Larry Hartsell, but after the first half I asked for my money back and went home. He was crap. I took one of his books to get signed, but didn’t bother.

You have to be careful training with someone older, especially if you have not trained with them for a while. When I was in my 20’s and 30’s I would practice techniques that I would never even consider now. It also appears they they have slowed-down a bit, but that is just an optical illusion.

2. You pee and wash your hands? I was taught not to piss on my hands, but in the toilet! 300pts. Weirdo. Maybe you are German? I know what you mean – a scoosh as out.

You shouldn’t keep paper in the dunnie. Not good for germs! Dunny paper is exempt otherwise you would be doing the ‘convict shuffle’ evertime you need to wipe.

“Playdough machines” – I love it. 500pts.

Good Morning All!

Caught up on a bit of sleep yesterday and have my painting stuff packed for a night at the pub with a few ex-military wargame buddies. Woot! I’ll also be delivering those two game boards I finished on Monday. Mice already chewed off some of the flock but the damage is cosmetic, and will only take a few minutes to fix.

It will be a late one, and I’ll be dragging myself around tomorrow again, but the weekend’s not far off.

@onlyonepinman That’s an outstanding mini. You’ve definitely sold me on the contrast paints for certain ‘bulk leather’ applications. Those Frostgrave barbarians are pretty high on my list of mini’s to buy… quite a bargain for that many PC’s! I like the glaze finish as well. It really ties the colour scheme together. Well done.

I’ve got the same painting queue problem for that game in October. All the mini’s for the Battlesystem have been painted, but some of the paint jobs are dated, and I’m debating whether to go with them the way they are, or upgrade them. Tough call, as I’m balls deep in online courses right now and still working fulltime.

@robert I can’t wait till you get paint on those nurgly things. I’m guessing you’ve got all kinds of putrid paint schemes in mind. It would be great if you could mount one of the vehicle weapons in one of those tentacles!

Ive been making up yes. Motivation has been a bit up and down, tearing into Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and just exploring the wide open world has helped me decompress and gave a change of pace to get me excited about painting and break it up. No repetitive grinds.

 

This evening I will have a friend up to paint. I’ll work on my Death Guard again. Second layers of the a basecoat and neaten everything up.
