I have six hours and ten minutes before Heather gets home! I am not going to say it, but I might do a bit of spraying. (shhhh) I don’t want to jinx anything I might do. There are two documentaries I want to see, but I suppose I can just listen to them while I finish off what I started on friday.

No Puggies today. However, I do have them tomorrow until friday. They go home about 1630hrs, but i’m sure I can petition Eve for a ‘Pug-over’. As long as it is not too hot we can have some nice walkies.

    Right, toast time! Play nice.

The first time I saw this I was on the bus coming back from Newcastle. I must have been laughing for about 8 miles!

I will also provide you some music to help you into the day.

Have you ever hear Avril’s version?

I think this is maybe the best performance ever.

I still like GW’s scenery but you’re right, it’s very GW themed. Which I suppose is understandable, they have their worlds and they’re trying to recreate them. Generally speaking though I don’t go for the whole grimdark thing. I have a soft spot for Necromunda but I don’t really do 40k any more.

MDF is good because of the sheer amount of variety out there but something like that oil rig took fooling ages. It’s just the sheer number of parts and the drying time of PVA combined with the amount of spare time I have to actually focus on building them. Opting to scratch build a base for it probably didn’t help that either. Worth it though I think. It’s a gaming table in its own right for small skirmish games

Welp, I did get those barrels drilled and some work done of the Sicarians (Imfiltrator Princeps done and the core of the other 5 ready for options to be built on).

@unclejimmy No, no: there must be success or failure for me. The witness of stranger and the promise of internet points is what drives me to get stuff done when I could just be collapsing on the couch/going straight to bed when the little on is down for the night.
You wouldn’t deny and old man his crutch now would you. =P

@onlyonepinman – even in 40Gay the ‘terrain’ does nothng except block LoS. Yes, that is pretty obvious, but once you are ‘in’ the terrain it means nothing. A long, long time ago, in an economy far, far away, the 40K rules had stuff for assaulting terrain and those troops who were trained to do just that had some great abilities. In the old days you did not want to face off against some Striking Scorpions!

The same was true about many of the Special troops. Scouts, Snipers, and Assassins are just different minis, and don’t get me started about their attempts at ‘overwatch’.

Why do you use PVA on your MDF? I use thicker superglue. Great if you want to take a few bits apart!

The “structure” is outstanding. I was thinking something similar…ever seen ‘Outland’? Processing plant or the exterior parts of a Mine. Who knows, but you are right, there is so much out there that you can find ‘bits’ to fill every part of your creation. TTCombat would be my first stop. However, there are a couple of guys local(ish) to me that make some lovely stuff.

This guy is amazing. All the parts are pre-cut and bundled together…no cutting! He is about 40 minutes from me and I have messaged him and he will consider making anything. Just ask.

I can’t remember what the other guy makes. Dave has bought 5-6 of his buildings and the multi-level ones are amazing. He is called something like “Dave the wargames guy” and is from Sunderland. I’m sure you will be able to find him on Ebay.

If I build something the whole point is that theentir game would be set within it/on it/inside it. It is just a day-dream at the moment (until other stuff gets finished), but I would like it to ‘fit in ‘ with all the other stuff we have. We have canals and overhead cranes…maybe a huge loading station?

tripping over my words is all ala Stan Smith

Busy few days with work, my son and family. Spent most of yesterday decompressing after a cousin’s birthday party. Got some hobby done and caught up on Computer games.

My pledge Friday would have been the following, but everything in brackets is where it stands now since I did a tiny but if work here and there.

    > Finish the Vaporeon repaint (some, varnished him this morning

    > Finish the Landspeeders (almost done)

    Add ons to the pledge:

    > post pictures of my complete work

    > basecoat two plague marines

    > work on the plague marine half of dark imperium

    > Prime my Astral Claws army

I’ll be back for questions and answers later

@kiranamida – well, I am not that cruel, but you are supposed to take part! It is not a pick-and-choose kind of thing either. If real stuff rears it’s head then you get a pass, obviously, (I was off to help Eve yesterday for example) otherwise what is the point?

As you are new i’ll let you off and you can try again this weekend. I am not going soft…it must be the meds. I am not one of these ‘first impression’ people – unless someone is a massive tool.

You can still post nonsense until closing time. This week is the same as usual: Wednesday 2200hrs. Even then we still post until the new one starts on friday.

    @onlyonepinman – I use a racist brand of superglue…

There is one of my minis left to build from the new set. Jamie has just one left too. A couple of 200pt games on sunday to test them out.

I tend to use a PVA wood glue because although it takes longer to dry you get more time to position parts correctly (something I have found very useful on some of the kits I have built) and also the bond when dried is rock solid, superglue can be a little brittle. I have done smaller kits with superglue b but something like that rig I used wood glue

@unclejimmy don’t know if these are of any use to you in your games. I have had the opportunity to paint a couple of prototypes and they’re really nice. I love using cars as scenery, they add a touch of life to the table.

    Good Morning All!

I’ve got a gardening wagon to put together tonight, but it shouldn’t take up the entire evening, unless the instructions are from Ikea. That means I should be able to throw more flock and lichen at those game boards.

I’ve got schoolwork to do, but need my UJ thread fix first. I apologize for not responding sooner.

@woldenspoons Aya is a real sweetie! We had a westie about that size. Tough as nails, and even kept the bears off the yard. Now we have a husky that eats cats and watches deer eat our garden.

@unclejimmy both sets of grandparents were Mennonites, and a few still creep into the family every now and again. I grew up in Steinbach, which was filthy with them. They are known for their penny pinching ways, so cheaping out on the wedding was no surprise.

They’re totally modern now: they have the highest incidence of pedophilia and domestic abuse of any ethnic group in Manitoba, including aboriginals. My parents actually had to draw the curtains to have a drink when I was growing up. The shortest book in the world is ‘The Mennonite Book of War Heroes’, as they still claim conscientious objector status. F*cking hypocrites.

We have a Hutterite colony a few miles down the road… same shit, different pile. We trade 160 proof shine and ‘herbs’ to them all the time for milk and beef, or any veggies that didn’t do well in our own garden.

As far as game boards go, I’ve got some foliage to stick in the rocks, and then I’m on to the last two boards (out of 12). They are also slope boards.

Also not keen on eating wild birds: you need to bolt a pound of bacon to a ruffed grouse breast to make it edible; same goes for Canada goose. You need to marinade the thing for weeks as the meat is tough as nails. Comes with flying a few thousand miles twice a year, and kicking the crap out of potential predators on a daily basis.

Vagabond – still giggling. Same with the Georgia Guidestones and the little guy with the ‘WTF?’ comment.

Infinity makes amazing females. The wash on those models really brings out the detail.

@robert that is quite the nurgly project you’ve got on the go. Awesome! Keep posting WIP’s.

@onlyonepinman I’ve posted some pics on previous threads, but here’s a few high points.IMG_0376 (2)IMG_065051216723-IMG_0364-2-770

There will be a photo shoot at my LGS on Oct. 18th, and my brother and I will be playing an inaugural Battlesystem game on the terrain on Oct. 19. I’ll post plenty of pics from that event.

The komodo dragons look great. I’m liking contrast paint more and more! Don’t forget to post a pic of your finished Viking.

We keep Rouen ducks and Danish geese, so not as keen on eating them, as they are more or less pets, although we do use the eggs, and sell the chicks.

Thank you for the Bladerunner link… just what the doctor ordered. It’s also good for painting. I get that Bladerunner vibe in the background without even realizing it.

I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch 2049. I thought Bladerunner was one movie that should have never had a sequel, and I’m good with how it left off. Still on the fence. Remember how the Highlander sequels destroyed the mystique of the first movie?

Time to bury my face in a textbook.
