@lawnor – indeed, this is the exact product I used for making my chain link fence – but again, that’s for 10-20mm.

I made up 10-20 pieces of it, in two lengths, the short ones exactly half the length of the long ones.  This way they piece together into parking lots and enclosures quickly and easily, as you say. 😀

@blinky465 I got the bases today.  They look great,  Thank you very much.  I’ll give them a scrub tonight and hopefully have them glues to bases and primed and ready to paint by the weekend.

@lawnor – I completely forgot about those already! Photos when you have them…. My printer has hardly stopped since the resin change, churning out cyberpunk terrain for this month’s Titan Forge competition (I came second last time – winning a litre of resin was enough to replenish my resin stocks but I’m all out for the printer this time – competition this month looks tough though!). I might print a few of those bases for myself…..

I’d suggest not going quite as thin this time.  The thinnest broke in transit, but it broke in a place where I can still use it and paint it up as damage, adding extra rust along the break.  It’s character, not waste.  Otherwise it all appears fine.  It’s had a wash and is sat drying on my work desk next to me with no one yet asking what I was doing with a bowl of hot soapy water and a toothbrush next to my keyboard.  My evening has been cancelled so I may yet get them primed today.  There will be pics as they get finished.

Good luck winning a printer.  And good luck not drowning in your own home made pile of unpainted plastic!  That’s my big fear behind buying a printer.

    IT’s a bit late for that 😉

Anyone got any links to “how to paint a mini in less than 30 mins” videos? Even at that rate, I fear I’ve got months of work ahead of me…..

Bulk Painting is your friend.  If it’s all terrain then hopefully there are short cuts you can use for most of it and just pick out details later.  An airbrush will be your best friend for that.  As for actual minis if you want quality then I think you’re stuffed.

Yeah, most of *this weeks* prints are terrain. That big pile of grey plastic over there? Character models. I’m between a rock and a hard place – the models are so good, it’d be a disservice to just slap on some contrast paint and pretend that’s good enough. Then again, I’m unlikely to live to be a hundred and sixty, so maybe I need to lower my sights!

Create a Coronavirus sanctuary and then force your “guests” to paint for you or you’ll kick them out and withhold their toilet paper?

Otherwise, yes.  Manage expectations and before you print ask yourself if you actually need it printed now.  There’s nothing stopping you printing it later.

@blinky465 I got them all painted up and varnished today.  The models don’t ship until around August so we won’t fully get to see what they look like until then but I’m really happy with them. Thank you.  If you are going to make more for yourself I’d suggest making the small ones .5mm smaller, or at least check your bases first as they do vary.  These are a little snug, but fine.  If its possible (No idea how much skill it takes) to increase the definition on the hexes / enlarge and endeepen the gap between the hexes that’d be nice too.  These ones got a little lost in the paint, but perhaps thats just because I asked you to downsize them for me.

    bases

Aw c*#p!  I just found two more I’ve all but painted the black rim on that got forgotten.  Aw well.  I’ll finish them off next time the airbrush comes out.

It’s a funny old world… I too backed the Warcaster KS, I too want the Continuum… I too have purchased a GSW mesh roller to make bases with.

I think I’m going to keep the bases fairly plain… and paint them with a Torn-style lighting effect… red evil torn would be obvious, I might go green?

Sounds good.  It was the mesh roller I think I was looking at.  I’m also a warmachine player and for me, giving the AC a green glow would make them a little too much like Cryx, their Warmachine equivalent.  Going red gives me something new to try painting, but I think green will work well.
