    For Australians and New Zealanders, today April 25th is a special day where we remember the sacrifice of men and women who served and died to protect our counties in times of war. Every year as I think on this I usually reflect on lucky I am that these people existed and I try in some small way to do them honour.

    There was no official Dawn service at the towns war memorial (every, and I mean every, town has one) due to COVID-19 , instead the RSL (Returned & Services League) asked that Australians stand at their front door or end of their drive way at 6:00 am and observe a minutes silence. I expected to be the only one up in my small street. I wasn’t at at 6:01 I heard the faint strains of the last post being played on a trumpet from the next street over ( I had heard on heresay   that the students in  the band at the local High school planned this and co-ordinated their trumpet players to do this across the town , it was the kid’s inititive apparantly … good on them)

    They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
    Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
    At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

    I only noticed this morning, which makes my hobby time on Sunday’s show a little more poignant.

    In memory of my two grandfathers.  Least we forget.
