As some of you may know, I have been absent from the hobby & community for a while and I’m here to tell you it is going to be a lot longer and here is why.

As a child I had to deal with a ton of violence and to me violence is normal. Everywhere I go I am prepared for a fight, when I see certain “types” of people or hear people shouting I go directly into fight or flight mode. This isn’t healthy as you can understand, to combat these reactions me and my therapists decided that it would be a good idea to try and reduce the depictions of violence in my life. Tabletop miniature games as you may know mostly depict violence, it being war or combat in any other form. So for the foreseeable future I’ll be locking it all behind a closed door and out of sight.

I’ve been going through a massive change in my life from the start of this year, not COVID-19 though. I figured out together with a specialist that I have a wheat allergy. Wheat is in almost everything you eat and I had to massively change what I eat. This has lead to an increase in my struggle with my mental health issues, so something has to change. The reduction of violence in my life is one, the other is that I will be starting a new hobby. I am going to be getting into RC cars because I have always loved cars, racing and I love all the technical stuff.

I thought I’d let people know why I am absent and why I keep being absent for a while, I hope all of you will keep enjoying the hobby and that I will talk to most of you when I get back from my hiatus.

You will be missed for sure and maybe/hopefully this is not goodbye forever. But as others have said and you have identified you must put yourself first and do what is right for you.

It is great to hear that getting help is helping and you are making progress.

We will always be here if you need a friend or an ear to listen.

Take care of yourself and feel free to listen in on any stream for a while if you get “homesick” 🙂

I hope your new diet and hobby workout for you. Perhaps you can apply your model painting skills to the bodywork of the rc cars.

@amachan always do what is best for yourself.
This is just a hobby and shouldn’t cause or be a source of personal problems at any level.

As I said in discord : we will be here if and when you decide to return.
    The door is always open.
    A seat always available.

    Take care
    Be well

Always take care of yourself first, that’s a golden rule that’s very easily forgotten sometimes. I hope you feel better soon and we’ll be floating around somewhere when you’re ready to come back. 🙂

I feel for you and I am so sorry to hear what you are going though and how you are feeling. It is complex and it is not easy but you will get through it and once you are in a safe place again please come back.

Take care and look after yourself

@amachan – sorry to hear you will be leaving the hobby for a while, I’ve always found your “alternative approaches” to conventional norms refreshing.  That said, it sounds like you’ve done a great job identifying specific issues in your life and are taking bold, decisive steps to remove them from your path.  That’s probably an example many of us could follow.

Best of luck with your RC model cars hobby.  Having dabbled in model cars in my youth I’m sure you’ll find it rewarding and exciting.  Everything has to be so shiny, smooth, and clean … no hiding painting mistakes behind camouflage or “battle damage.”  😀  And of course your vehicles will have to move on their own!

Please continue to take care of yourself, and may you find fortune in your future endeavors.

    Be well.

    Find your Zen spot.

RC cars are fun, the new mini drones running obstacle courses are a blast as well.

Fairy sure I saw a camera control system for RC cars so it is more like being in the car, which seems much more difficult.
Have fun and find a good place.
