    I prefer the original version of that Pink song XD

    Though one of the few times a cover is actually better than original… controversial opinion, I know!

    And another song with a classic intro!

    Was pissing around with the transparent/translucent Reaper models last week. I wasn’t really sure what to do with them so I could preserve the transparency. In the end I went with coloured washes on the elemental, followed by a light blue ‘foamy’ dryrush. I painted on a thick gloss sealer. There’s room in the base for a tealight… maybe later. Sorry for the crap pictures.

    On the water weird I just put a wash on the face and base, and did the same foamy drybrush. I painted in teeth and eyes. and put a gloss finish on it. Looks wetter than the elemental. There’s no consistency in the colour or opacity of the plastic.

    @woldenspoons what do you think of the contrast paint? Looks like it does a good job! I’ve had people tell me it’s good for assembly line painting, but they aren’t totally sold on it. I’ve also been told that the colours aren’t consistently transparent.

    Glad your interview went well. Did your Excel test take five minutes?

    Current temperature in my hobby shed… I’m not enjoying it at all!  I don’t know how people cope with hot weather.  All I want to do is hug an iceberg.

    My garden is loving it though.  Some shouting from Thor and bolts from Zeus are forecast for later so I might not have too much watering to do!

    Taking a break from painting 15mm Germans by painting 10mm Dwarfs.  Just need to touch up the beards and some inky washes to do.

    My take from a quick read at lunch time, lots of branches are required to have authentic looking armour in Normandy!

    I really do like the glossed black rim for bases. Makes it jump out a little more.

    And now, Maestro, music!

    @cpauls1 So far I’ve only used Contrast on a Skeleton and a Mummy.  I was very impressed with the outcome given the effort involved.  I don’t think I would ever paint a whole mini in them, but if you wanted to get a decent bone effect in a short space of time, or fur, then I think they are a useful tool.

    @crazyredcoat I do like the colour scheme on your assassin.  Nice change from black!  The other minis look the part as well.

    @robert Thanks! As he was with my Ultramarines, I wanted to tie him in, so a blue grey seemed the logical choice. I like how it turned out.

    @robert 10mm dwarf! Like a human at that scale isn’t short enough. Makes my eyes hurt looking at it. Well done. I can’t believe you picked out all that detail. Is there a lot of fantasy available at 10mm? I see quite a bit of Warmaster on EBay, but didn’t know anyone else made the stuff. I sometimes regret not going to a smaller scale for my mass battles.

    @crazyredcoat Thank you. Much better… and an excellent paint job!

    @cpauls1@torros is probably better equipped to answer that question – I really don’t know much about smaller scales as it is all very new to me!  The dwarfs I have are from Copplestone, who have a small range but Pendraken and Magister Militum have quite big ranges.

    Hi @cpauls1 and @robert apologies for the intrusion  on to this thread

    Here’s a list of what’s available.  Of course for human races the possibilities  are endless

    @torros not an intrusion at all, I was hoping you would comment – no point me trying to bluff an answer!  I should apologise for saying “probably” instead of “definitely” 🙂

    @unclejimmy  ‘cucumber season’ or ‘cucumber time’ is what we call really slow news days when fluffy nonsense articles get published because nothing of interest is happening.

    //

    We’ve got 34+ degrees celcius outside … I’m sure those down under would call it T-shirt weather or something.
    They’re predicting 38+ tomorrow and the day after.

    Me I’d rather find a nice fridge and climb inside.

    I’m so glad that we’ve got a nice 25 degrees temp at the office.

    //

    @torros there’s always room for more

    @limburger we would call it “silly season”, the period when Parliament goes on holiday during the summer.  Not heard cucumber season before either.  Every day is a school day on OTT.
