@robert – I thought that quote was from Spike Milligan! 41 on the 10th – sounds like a game. We are quite close – 52 on the 7th.

I also don’t need a search engine. Met Mr. Anderson three time. The first time was at a soundcheck at Newcastle City Hall. They all got out of two cars and looked like Russian mafia. I wonder if he still has the fish farm? Great music.

You also made a huge mistake. Venom are not from Newcastle. They are from Washington. Big difference and I still have their single where the b-side was then beating-up Alan Robson live on air. The good old days. Their first album is excellent and it even has some real backward masking.

I am sure I have a Cathedral tshirt. They were the support when I went to see CoF. They were so much better.

@oriskany – over the last few months you have forgotten my sarcastic nature! Then again, you lot are not good with sarcasm. Are you? (I couldn’t resist) You do more stuff most weekends than I do in a year. You are the gaming Avenger.

Heather is not exactly a ‘teacher’. She has all the qualifications, but works with Primary age children with special needs. Most of them are quite severe. She is an autism specialist! I must be her test subject…

I am a big fan of the romantic poets and Marillion lyrics are excellent chat-up lines. If you can’t get your nat-king with some of them then just cut it off. 10pts. However, like you some of my patter came straight out of the Ark.

You were on GF 8! I have never had that many girlfriends. You are now the Rod Stewart of gaming. All hail the new king.

Wild Weasles rule. F4’s rule even more. I’ll be checking that out. Keep up the good work.

The bike is part of the 95th Maverick Squadron USAriadna. Infinity stuff. I hope you have seen their take on the “Devil Dogs”. Very you! It was part of the USAriadna starter set. It makes great mobile cover that you can hide behind and move it when needed. The rider has a pump-shotgun.

Ah, the other ‘Uncle Jimmy’! 10pts. I do like this as a cover…

Sorry for any children who see this before 2100hrs.

@woldenspoons – both! I also notice you didn’t read all the rules. Try again.

@crazyredcoat – 40K = Urrrgh! (a quick shower) However, I like the sound of the Rupert. I always loved them. That funny ‘handshake’ the refer to as a salute! I would like to see that. 5pts. I remember working…terrible stuff, but carry on.

As you are so busy you get to join in without all the gubbins. Check in when possible – i’ll be here.

@robert – 100pts! Excellent come-back. Maybe it is a cultural thing – lots of people don’t get that bit about Rab. I love him.

Anyway…there is nothing wrong with being sexy! Dad’s Army rules. We have just been watching ‘Love Thy Neighbour’. Jamie didn’t believe it was really on TV, but I explained that it was back in the old days when ‘racism’ and ‘sexism’ were funny. Later on they got a bit of a bad name…

I have my “pledge” here. I’ll take a picture, but it is some bits to stick together. Back soon.

This is part of my pledge…it needs some attention. I have plenty of bits to make it shine.

    @oriskany – Heather got me this…

    self-build paint storage

You can add to it. I already need to!

I just noticed a thread about the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing. Should we tell them it was all faked?

Oh, how things have slipped. Where the bloody hell is everyone? So, just like the first time I am going to be sitting playing with myself.

    …again!

My assistant has gone home. I won’t have them again until tuesday or wednesday. However, there might be an emergency!

    IMG_20190522_181410

Then you say, “Do you want to go to the woods?”

Time for a trough. Rice and noodles are on their way to me right now. Enjoy your evening whatever you have planned, but don’t name it after me!

It will be an early start for those with the constitutional fortitude to join me. Some evenings I induldge in one of my new vices…Steam! I am not a video game player. Not really. However, my dad told me to try a game called ‘Mudrunner’. Hooked. I have played KSP (Kerbal Space Program) for years, but some of the other games are awesome. Some of my favourites: Prison Architect, Astroneer (or Astroqueer as Jamie calls it!), Surviving Mars, and there is an great, turn-based Battlestar Galactica game. I am no BG fan, but the game is amazing. All good fun. Good therapy too. The consultant agrees.

uh oh … I see you haven’t lost your bite @unclejimmy

Pledge wise I really need to be doing something about my minions (aka the goblin army for AoS) before the 40k hobbyweekend. I won’t be there in person, but I will be there in spirit. That is if all things go according to plan.

Let’s see if I can answer those questions

    > 1. Tell me something you have watched since I have been away?

I’ve been watching ‘The Orville’ and it is a surpisingly good alternative to Star Trek. The comedy can be a bit typical American (very childish), but the stories are great. I also like that they aren’t quite as ‘enlightened’ and ‘superior’ like the Next Gen crew.

    > 2. How as your week been?

I’m about a month at my new job. It’s been fun and I’m learning lots of new computer stuff.

    > 3. It is the summer! In the UK it is the start of the school holidays today and my wife has six weeks off. How about everyone else? Children to cope with or jetting off to foreign shores?
*argh* please don’t remind me. I’m glad that the weather has been behaving so no heat wave or endless rain.
However it being summer means that public transport is running a holiday schedule. I’m so glad that my new work is a 20 minute bike ride.

    > 4. Tell me about your very first girlfriend/boyfriend. …

So … those things exist ? I thought they were imaginary.

    > 5. Since I have been away tell me a few things I will have missed. Were you David, but are now Davina? If you are new then tell us all some facts about you.

    still same ol’ me 🙂
    I’ve changed jobs twice.

    > 6. Just a quickie…anyone thinking of a genre change? Do you fancy trying a sci-fi game when you have always played fantasy? Do tell, what and why.

I’ve never managed to stick to a single genre. I’ve done two bootcamps (Flames of War and Bolt-Action).
And at the moment I’m trying to build an Age of Sigmar army. Next up is a mob orks for 40k/Killteam.
Plus there’s this huge mountain of metal, resin and plastic as a result of a few kickstarters which has everything from historical (Blood&Plunder, Joan of Arc) to fantasy (Carnevale) to superheroes (Batman). All I really need is time and space to actually unpack and paint.

Music … can’t beat the King, right ?

Back in black … I think that fits

    Metallica (of course)

Rammstein have a new CD and it’s great

The lyrics are very dark … I’m sure anyone can detect the build up of insanity despite not understanding German.
The cd version of this song is better at selling the insanity that’s creeping into his voice in the chorus.

To me Newcastle basically covers the big bit beside Scotland until you get to Yorkshire @unclejimmy  I remember, like myself, you like a bit of Jethro Tull, which is one of the reason I remember he shares my birthday plus Aqualung is just a fantastic album, one of my favourite none metal ones.

I love Steam as well, Steam Locomotives!  Much better than those computer games.  Just don’t have the fortitude to build a train set.

@limburger I do want to see these Minions!

Some Flames of War Germans.  I made a bit of a mess of the based ones, but hopefully that is them finished now.  The rest of the Platoon is base coated and washed.  Should get them finished and a coat of gloss on tomorrow.

Pfft @unclejimmy thinking I’d follow the rules. I read it alright buster. You’ve not been around for a while. My question answers and hobby pledges are all half promises and I’ll post photos next time. You’ll learn.

As for USAriadna werewolves, firemen and minuteman oh my. It’s what put me on them in the first place. Sticking with the pretty lady Maverick or picking up her chums?

@unclejimmy – re: sarcasm, If I’m not good with sarcasm you might not be that good with emojis 😀 😀 😀  with the multiple laughing faces after my crack I was hoping to convey I was, well, sort of in on the joke.  I’ll admit not 100% … it has been a while … It’s also my experience that sarcasm delivered over the web can be tricky if not “over-delivered.”  You almost have to “ruin” it by overplaying it and making it bluntly obvious.  Also, I’m “in front of” a lot of people these days so I have to be careful I understand what people are saying before replying.

But you know what, you’re right, emojis are not “language” (no matter how much kids these days try to make them so).   So in the end, my bad.

As far as not posting in a while today, well, sadly … I’m still at work.  Time difference and all that, actually just now on my lunch hour.

You were on GF 8!  – Well, at the time, yeah.  I mean, this WAS almost 30 years and about 80 pounds ago.  I was a 19-year old Marine.  That adds a few +s to your dice roll, if you know what I mean.  Anyway, most of these were super fast, I wasn’t kidding about the two-three months thing.  @gladesrunner was the first to pass a year.  Then she repeated the feat 24 more times.  😀

That sounds like awesome work Heather does.  Jenn works with normal children (well, as normal as kids are in America these days) and she’s always exhausted and stressed out.

Wild Weasles rule. F4’s rule even more. – Yeah, it tells you something about guys who’s job it is to literally bait the enemy into turning on their air search / acquisition radar and fire everything they have at you … just so you can put a Shrike HARM back down their own radar beam and take them out.  Those Wild Weasel squadrons were some crazy, brass balls guys.

Anyway, I’m making the game pieces tonight.  Not sure if I will go with Air Force Wild Weasels or Navy F-4 Phantoms off the old Essex-class carriers USS Ticonderoga, USS Bonhomme Richard, or dare I suggest, USS Oriskany.  😀  (oops, there goes another emoji). They’ll be up against double their numbers of MiG-17s, plus plenty of SAM-2 support from the ground.

Did you notice the thread about the moon?  Yeah, bro.  It’s my thread.

Painting station – that’s awesome!  Man, my dining room table has been a perpetually-frozen wreck for almost six months now.  Check that… OVER six months.  I haven’t touched a brush almost since the beginning of the year.  Between Ops Center, Sitrep, and two game run on the weekend every week (Darkstar is now fully published, btw), there just isn’t time.

I also like the mdf garage / hangar?  There was some great mdf from “Things in the Basement” and “Impudent Mortal” at historicon.  I can’t use any of it (don’t really use miniatures that much any more) but some of it could have been used to bulk up my Dad’s 1:48 railroad table.  never made it back to buy  it, though.

I’ve also fallen into the trap where my painting station / hobby areas gets to such a point that it takes an hour of clean up just to get started, every time the mood takes me or I have an extra hour or so, I let it pass because I don’t feel like “grunt work.”

Another 90 minutes at the office.  half an hour home after that, than its making maps and game pieces for Air War Vietnam and designing Darkstar scenarios.  I swear, sometimes I go to my “real job” just to relax.

Welcome back @unclejimmy ! Woot! Apologies for the late arrival. People keep telling me I should do work at work… a foreign concept for me but it did get in the way today.

Pledge: Teaching at my LGS tomorrow so time will be limited. Sunday I’ll be out with Vi, and I gotta say she’s a damn sight prettier than you lot!  Still, I’d like to get another of my battle boards ready for my LGS (shameless plug: for those who haven’t seen it, I’ve got a project going – Battle Boards and Scatter Terrain).

Also, I’d like to finally start hanging stuff off my FSV for my near future recce troop — the pointy, pointy end of my combat team. There’s not much real estate on the deck, but I think I can fit a few worn jerry cans on the front fenders, and maybe pile some rucksacks behind the .50 cal turret (a scratch build). Then I can highlight it and finally call it done.

I’ve got a crewman prototype I’m pretty happy with: Dreamforge body, less the pauldrons, and a GW Cadian(?) head. I liked it as a crewman helmet and the bits are cheap as chips. The rest of the Cadian body was too chubby — lots of groceries in the 40k universe apparently… or are they just big boned? My PC hat slipped there for a moment. I’ll try to get some paint down on the other crewmen as well.
    Questions:
    1. What have I watched since you’ve been gone? Mostly kids at splash parks… till they took away my camera.

    2. The week’s been good. My dick of a boss has been outed on Stolen Valour’s Facebook page, by yours truly, and should be on pogie by Monday. For those who don’t know, Stolen Valour investigates guys who wear ranks and medals they’re not entitled to, and never earned. They are euphemistically referred to as space shuttle door gunners. Anyway, my boss claimed to be a jumper and a captain, but never rose above the rank of corporal, and was never in the Airborne Regiment. Grrr…

    3. Summer? Vi and I pack a lunch and a bunch of beer into a cooler on Sunday’s and pick a direction, and a vague destination. We leave about 1000 and are back before dark. We call them ‘daycations.’ If we can swing it we will drive to Kingston, Ontario to visit our grandbabies.

    4. My first girlfriend? About 20 of us were packed into a motel room for a weekend party and she dragged me into the bathroom. We trashed the place, broke the sink and the toilet lid; good thing the music was loud. The relationship didn’t last long, and my next girlfriend had to tune me down considerably on that front.

    5. What have you missed? I’ve come full circle. After getting a degree and graduating with honours, I’m back working on the airbase I retired from making under half of what I made before.

    6. Genre change? Does that mean I have to use a different bathroom? Is there an intermediate bathroom in case the surgery isn’t entirely successful? Actually, I just bought some 15mm WWII stuff, but the FoW rules suck. I’ll likely go back to Striker or Traveller rules, or may try Battlegroup.

Music. I’m having a nostalgic, mainstream commercial kind of day:

I’ll be by tomorrow. Too much fun! Good to see you all here!

@robert You’ve got more balls than I do. All I’ve done is stare at my 15mm stuff! I like the mini’s. Where are they from? Often 15mm models look like Playmobil figures. That’s what kept me away for so long. Outstanding paint job, if I haven’t mentioned it in the projects section!

Should have married the woman who smoked cigars. I quit smoking eight years ago but still have cigars on my birthday in May and at Christmas… and when @oriskany comes to town! It’s like being touched by God. There’s just nothing in the world that can replace smoking… well, maybe meth.

@oriskany For anyone who knows you, there’s no need to explain your hobby pledge! For those who don’t, a mighty ‘F*ck off!’ is in order. Good to see all the Ops Center links. I have to make time for those!

    @crazyredcoat I’m intrigued. Pics please!

@unclejimmy I’m thinking you’ve probably accumulated a fair sized city’s worth of Infinity terrain! Are you and Jamie still playing?

    Those pugs are adorable!

@limburger Good to see you here! I like your answer to #4 lol.
