The best advice for being questioned in a grave yard…

One day someone will ask me. Maybe I should carry a shovel with me? No, better not.

@horati0nosebl0wer good to see you too fella. Reminds me I could do with a few shelves putting up.

@unclejimmy if you still in the mood to run them then fly free my friend just don’t let it become a grind. Plenty here ran then before. May even coax @mage out of retirement ?.

I have infinity but as our group are all new and it’s such a deliciously detailed rule set it can take a while through looking through rules wikis etc that we never finish playing. I’m the expert because I’ve actually watched games of it. They are in trouble.

A lot of your stuff @unclejimmy looks like it would work great in The Walking Dead. Ooh just had a genius idea for the battle of Waterloo….

    Good Morning All!

A good day yesterday! My pit bull lawyer finally got me a settlement from Veterans Affairs after 6 years of fighting. I may buy some mini’s…

@robert Montreal turned you off strippers? How could that even happen? None of them even have bruises! Did you tip the bouncer to get a seat on sniffer’s row? Did they catch you heating dollar coins with a lighter under the table, and tossing them into her G-string?

One day we had a parade rehearsal in the morning for an afternoon change of command parade. They cut us loose for lunch and we went to a peeler bar in our dress uniforms. One of the strippers was armed with whipped cream. She sprayed it all over her hairy mitt and asked if I wanted a lick. Naturally I agreed, but she grabbed on to my head with a death grip and buried my face between her legs. Whipped cream everywhere. I couldn’t get my tunic cleaned up enough to go on parade, and when I explained what happened I was excused. That was another good day!

@unclejimmy that technical looks great! Do you have a jihadist to put in the gunner’s seat?

E1-E1-0. lol. Still love Traveller. The space combat was a bit abstract but I’m thinking we could probably do some Darkstar stuff to spice up the adventure when that happens. I’ve got boarding actions covered at least.

Isn’t that the cemetery that’s haunted as f*ck? Who is Elizabeth Siddle? A Satanist sidekick for Alestair Crowley?

We’re up to almost 170 posts. If that isn’t a ringing endorsement I don’t know what is.

@seldon9 As animals go, we’ve had our ups and downs. We lost all our chickens, ducks, and geese to a fisher over a period of three months (think ferret on steroids and you’d be close). Never did figure out how the bastard got in. We set traps; I even stayed up nights with a rifle. Never got it. Nasty f*cking things. Now that we have a big dog to watch out for the place we may get birds again.

@horati0nosebl0wer Thanks for your concern. I’m more or less functioning again. If I’m not outside too much today I should be good to go.

Some pics, as requested. I’m a shit photographer though:

The troopers are a dog’s breakfast of parts. The bodies are Mantic. I was originally going to use them for my combat team, but they weren’t flexible enough, so they got dumped in my bits box. The pauldrons and backpack are from Dreamforge, the head is Puppetswar, and the shotgun/bayonet is from Victoria Miniatures.

Love the guys with auto shotguns, one per squad for fire support

Section 2IC with a snub pistol… basically a big shell that will penetrate any armour, but only good for about ten feet.

    IMG_0700 (2)

I like the naval characters: they don’t quite look comfortable with personal weapons. Most of their skills are related to running a starship, so not too many slots for blade and pistol, or carbine.

Having trouble with my connection, so I’ll start another post with a few more shots.

    Starship crew, continued:

    IMG_0712 (2)

Most crewmen will have a cutlass and laser pistol. These will mostly be PC’s.

Section Commander. This will be the only PC for the ship’s troops; he’ll run them all. If I have a lot of players I’ll give someone the 2IC as a character. The plan is for everyone to have a ship character and a ground pounder character, and I’ll switch back and forth daily in terms of game time. It will be hard to do when the two groups interact, but I’ll make it work.

It’s hard to see in the pics, but these guys have a grey/tan striped cam pattern. The combat team’s uniforms will be similar, maybe a third darker brown thrown in, and of course they won’t have blue armour. The navy guys will look like fish out of water if they get blown out of orbit, and wander around in the desert with the combat team.

They look really good @cpauls1 smart looking bases as well.  I think we went to the cheapest club we could find.  Half the strippers were older than my mother… wasn’t a great experience.

Bloody hell … we’ve officially broken a 75 year old temperature record today (dating back to August 1944).

    39,3 °C … and tomorrow we’re supposed to be hitting 40°C

I’m soo glad the office is nice and cool.
It feels like walking in an oven out there.

    What’s the joke with “E1-E1-0” ?
Coordinates for Earth/Sol system in Traveller ?
    Or something more sinister ?

@unclejimmy – No worries at all, sir.  I suspect those are the kind of videos that are better to “listen to” whole painting or cleaning up the house, etc, rather than sit riveted to the screen in breathless suspense.  😀  I also have three set up for a Valor & Victory  1967 Vietnam game with @stvitusdancern on the Sitrep Channel.  I’m trying to get better at editing, cutting down to 30 mins or less (tough thing for a game that ran over nine hours) and put in jokes and sound effects bits to break up the monotony.

I like the big HVAC unit on the roof of the building.  Yes, adds realism and also terrain and cover for game purposes.   Also the pallets.  Great scatter terrain touch.  And I love that technical!  That poor thing looks like it would flip over if fired to the side, which is exactly how these vehicles look when you see them in Syria, Libya, Somalia, and other hotspots.  That a Zu-23 autocannon?

@rasmus and I have used ZU-23-2s on some trucks in the Lebanon 1982 expansion I did for Valor &Victory.  He was firing up some of my IDF infantry so I overran the f*cker with one of my M113 Zelda APCs.  CRUNCH!  Not my smartest move, but it was fun.

    M113 crunch

Eggs and cheese for breakfast.  Better than what I had.  😀

I would really love to take part in one of your game…someday.

If you want, I can add you to the e-mail list.  Just ping me your e-mail in a PM. We do at least one, sometimes two games a week.  everyone gets an e-mail usually on Wednesday or Thursday with a listing of what’s on offer.  Sometimes we do it on Twitch *(which is a “twitchy” piece of software, not everyone has a good experience with it), but you can just hang out in our web conference and watch some of a game live if you ever want, chat with us, talk for a few minutes.  All you really need to take part or even just hang out and chat is an internet connection.  No accounts,  no Twitch, no Discord, no software downloads, etc.

If anyone has a use for them just let me know before I put the up for offers. – those are an eminently “useful” model of tank … as the type represented was ubiquitous from mid 1943 onward.  What scale are they?

He looked exactly like white Jesus. Maybe that has something to do with his skill? – Well, if he starts painting minis while walking on water, that will be a clue.

@cpauls1 – Interesting idea about using Darkstar for Traveller.  Darkstar … specifically its starship design / creation spreadsheets, was created with the long-term view of possibly adapting to other IPs, especially Star Trek, Star Wars, BSG, Space Battleship Yamato, and others.  The system is ready for it, if you’re ever interested.

The system also has rules for contested docking (very difficult to do if the enemy ship isn’t crippled), and boarding actions, but they practically never happen.

I like the trooper minis, especially the improvised / kit-bashed weapons load outs and the deck plate bases!

Ah, gentleman’s club stories.  You guys need to come to South Florida one of these days, the laws here are extremely lax about that kind of thing.  You’ll be ruined for life.  Of course, it helps to have a taste for Caribbean and South American flavor, if you take my meaning …

Did you know there is a Heavy Metal Album based on Traveller?  The Lord Weird Slough Feg – they are a wee bit out there in terms in the way their riffs and songs are constructed and can be a difficult listen at times.  I like them, their debut is a stonker of an album.

@limburger  very sad news…. and it’s one of the rare occasions the translation is spot on and almost more emotional than the original.. (talking about the German version here)

@limburger aw, crap. Rutger Hauer? I’m feeling old all of a sudden. RIP Roy. He was only 75… I’m guessing his last words were “I want more life, fucker.”

Also, Let’s not forget movies like ‘Ladyhawke’, among others.

Traveller Hint: old MacDonald had a farm…

@robert all the high priced help is on St. Catherine’s St. I see where you might have gone astray.

    Thanks for the Traveller link!

@oriskany The adventure I’m building doesn’t have a lot of starships in it, but could eventually build to several small ships, nothing much bigger than a frigate… and then there’s a mammoth robotic orbiting station that’s programmed to kill anything it feels is a threat i.e. everything. At most the ships would have few laser turrets, maybe a missile battery, or a mass driver, and the transports even less.

Reinforcements for all sides would be based on a random D100, everything from a frigate to an infantry section is on the list.

The boarding actions would use Traveller rules and the mini’s I’m painting and building now.

As for the clubs down there — count me in!

@sundancer that is very rare indeed …

@torros you must be one of the few people that even know about ‘Flesh & Blood’.
I suspect you saw the English dubbed version and not the original Dutch one ?

@cpauls1 oh that McDonald … LOL
Language jokes are a tad tricky when it’s not your language. 🙂

I wonder what will happen to the tv-series and movies that he was a part of. I hope they had all the required scenes.
