So while I was looking at for Rule sets to play  Dreamforge’s Grav StuG KS I found The Hammer Slammers rule set and StarGruntsII. Both claim to support 28mm war gaming, and I know members of the StarGrunt community play 28mm (and judging by the free rules it looks fun). But I have not heard anything about Hammer Slammers, has anyone played the game, and more importantly has anyone played it in 28mm format?  if so what was it like?

P.S.:(The Grav StuG KS is still going on as of this post so if you want to see them on the market back it or if the VAT is too much responsibility i.e. bother for one, consider buying the STL files, cuz daddy really wants his StuGs, okay that plug is done back on topic. if you want to cry about VAT please do your own Forum as this is about garv tanks in gaming).

Stargrunt 2 is a great ruleset and the grandfather of many modern/scifi rulesets. But It doesnt handle vehicles very well.. Hammers Slammers does handle vehicles, some might say that it is its main focus. Not sure that it would play all that well at 28mm tho’..

rant mode/re: The dreamforge “stug” kickstarter. It failed again, and its always going to fail. What ruleset will you use with it?? None , that’s what ruleset. The 28mm sci-fi market is fuxed right now. WH40K dominates and there is no sign of it letting up. All these silly 28mm sci-fi kickstarters that fail everyweek should really do more homework. The market needs a product that is to sci-fi what Warlords of Erehwon and SAGA Age of Magic is to fantasy. Just make a solid ruleset (doesn’t even have to be all that good… Im looking at you Erehwon), that allows people to play with whatever miniatures they have and with a physical book people can buy at the normal outlets. Quit trying to sell miniatures… we have closets full of them already. rant mode off/

Gruntz is the set that borrows a lot from Warmachine I think… not a big fan. Tomorrows War is about the best generic sci-fi out there.. but the rulebook can be.. uh.. not easy to digest in one sitting, and the original authors are MIA.

Hammers Slammers is a good set of rules with inetresting initiative system primarily for armour engagements the infantry rules are a bit basic but with just a slight tweaking and with our addition of over watch rules, became one of our groups favourite set of rules.
In fact was thinking of doing a project on the bios (with pics) of some of the units invented for it.

@warzan ideal for your idea with The Grav Stugs, if you give me your ideas on it I will add it as an official unit in
‘Hammer Slammers’ Into the Mercian Sector that I’m planning to do as a project.

That does sound interesting even though the KS didn’t back (can always turn to kitbash deodorant bottle proxy till they rethink it), if you want you can check out the KS for ideas here.

I have also contacted the guy that ran the grav stug KS, so he might share his opinions on the matter but I will throw in mine for the time being though I have not played “hammer slammers” nor read the books it is based on.

The Grav StuG was going to have 4 different main gun barrel variants: standard StuG cannon, tank hunter cannon, flame thrower, and a high powered laser cannon. A rail gun would have been cool too (I was thinking of using the flamer or laser for that) as would some sort of light anti-personnel auto cannon though the top secondary gun near the hatch would cover that.  It looks light and fast while also being sturdy, so I thought it might make a good drop off vehicle for power armor or infantry riders when taking on trenches and positions like that. That’s my 2 cents on it.

So is this an officialish rule set or fanzine rules?
