@sundancer Two weeks and counting until you can open your gifts.. bwahahaha. The box contains something that would be of interest to each and every one of us here. It will be a wonder to behold… possibly something of a laugh for your wife to see when you look at it the first time.
Unfortunately I couldn’t find any sort of countdown of the space shuttle with Santa animation so you get this in its place. Since we all here know of the musical dueling between you and I this might be an Xmas truce in heavy metal.
Ack! It sucks that this guy didn’t get more coverage. The last time I saw a shelf system out there it wasn’t as clean a line for the case. His carrying cases look pretty good. @mage You might want to look at the other stuff this guy does for transportation.
Someone wake up @brennon! We’ve got a War For Chicken Island that needs to be covered! I am definitely in for this… though like @limburger I’m wondering about space and money for all this. A hobby room with house attached…. an engineering feat for all gamers to dream of.
December 11, 2018 at 9:39 am #1312657@sundancer oooh shiny tournament pics! Those tables look great! Hope you had a fun day! And best of luck house hunting – I know it can be a tiresome and gruelling experience, I hope you find something that meets your expectations without the process taking months. Sorry there was so many cheezy armies at the tourney but I’m glad you had a good time. 30 seasonal gingerbread men for posts and tourney pics.
@woldenspoons I’m with you there – big Empire toys are probably what’s going to drag me into SWL – Oh I so don’t need any more hobby projects right now but if they release an AT-AT then it won’t be my fault, right?… Seriously though those death troopers certainly do look the business – keen to see how they play. /giggles at Whiterock Castle comment… 30 seasonal gingerbread men for posts and pun
@limburger @horati0nosebl0wer are you sure you aren’t looking for a hobby house with a room attached? Because that might be better 😉
@limburger Glad to hear the Dark Souls stuff is in hand. 30 seasonal gingerbread men for posts so far.
@horati0nosebl0wer pretty sure some of those carols aren’t quite the traditional ones… Hrm War for chicken Island looks pretty highbrow… Might be a bit sophisticated for my simple tastes 😛 heh that mecha chicken dragon mini is quite adorable – ok going to have to keep an eye on this one too. 30 seasonal gingerbread men for post, tunes and enabling my KS habit…
December 11, 2018 at 11:33 am #1312677@evilstu we are already looking for some time but since we’re not forced to move it’s more something to enjoy and to right.
@horati0nosebl0wer I put the parcel away… I just don’t look at it and it’s off my mind. to much to do.
Also fresh music:
ups… wrong one.
December 11, 2018 at 9:29 pm #1312898December 11, 2018 at 9:40 pm #1312902Soooo…. anyone want to take a guess on how many cards I have to sleeve for X-Wing to transition from V1 to V2 with one conversion kit for every faction? No? 1129+ Cards. Plus assembly of all manoeuvrer dials. I finished “Galactic Empire” and “First Order” and my thumbs are already sore… this will take a while.. and I haven’t started sleeving yet. oO
December 11, 2018 at 9:53 pm #1312905@sundancer I’ve not even looked at transferring. I only have Empire, First Order and Rebellion but it’s been so long since I refused to pay to win I’m not sure I’m going to. Hmm if they weren’t such nice models and iconic I’d think about moving them on ?
December 11, 2018 at 11:45 pm #1312926Lol.. yet again from out of nowhere information that might be of use for us as mini painters. I was going through Kickstarter.. sorry @evilstu I’m just a bad influence in throwing things your way with that site… and I happened to catch a project regarding military pinup cards. @oriskany You liked the with pinup I painted, here are playing cards to look over.
I scrolled down and saw how the color was being chucked on and I thought about all the tutorials regarding painting flesh there are. This is a speed paint for one of the cards but it highlights everything that should be considered with smoothing out skin. It doesn’t immediately work with acrylic paints (though the idea of the blending works from working with oil paint) but once acrylics are given a drop of additive to extend the work time this might well be something to puzzle with mentally. It might give some people reason to start using a wet palette to keep the paint viable for such things. I also like the music addition as I don’t need to do any edits to make it be fancy.
December 12, 2018 at 5:55 am #1312977@woldenspoons they only just now released the first really new ships that weren’t available before. The new A-Wing and the yellow mining corporation TIE. So if you’re only collecting the models you’ll need to get back in now 😉 (Oh and the Lando YT-1300 is new but does one really need that?)
December 12, 2018 at 6:01 am #1312978@sundancer I stopped a long while ago, just before Sabine’s Tie Fighter (which was something I really wanted). It is played in my store but only by travellers for Regionals tournaments.
I have a similar problem with pretty much any game that isn’t 40k.
December 12, 2018 at 6:06 am #1312980@woldenspoons I hear you. Though there are a few people playing X-Wing and Legion it’s hard to get time windows to match so that there can be games played.
December 12, 2018 at 8:03 am #1312988@sundancer good to hear – house hunting is bound to be a lot less stressful if you are not in a rush and can take your time. Wow, that’s a horrendous number of cards, no wonder your poor thumbs are sore. 20 seasonal gingerbread men
@limburger ah classic humour 🙂 20 seasonal gingerbread men
@woldenspoons just hang on to them and continue to play with the old version of the game? 20 seasonal gingerbread men
@horati0nosebl0wer looks like an interesting vid. Will have to check it out later when i’m not D/Ling updates… 20 seasonal gingerbread men
Quiet night tonight – going to try out the new expansion cards for Star realms with the GF. Such a fun little game, 2 player sci-fi spaceship deck builder, well worth checking out if you get the chance.
December 12, 2018 at 5:26 pm #1313250@evilstu I could hang on to play the old game but nobody is playing the new version let alone the old one.
December 12, 2018 at 6:30 pm #1313251what ? Only gingerbread men ?
What about gingerbread women ?
Or gingerbread animals ?
ah … who am I kidding … I don’t care what shape the gingerbread is.
Which reminds me that I still have a bag of ‘pepernoten’ to snack on. hmmm//—
@sundancer : 1129+ cards ? *ouch*
That makes me wonder why they didn’t make it app-based this time around, because with the exception of the damage deck there isn’t a real need to have that many or is there ?It’s a ridiculous amount of cards for any game.
How is the new A-wing different from the v1 series ?
Is it a different model or simply the same with with a different paintjob (and v2 rules) ?December 12, 2018 at 6:53 pm #1313255@limburger you’ve got to keep in mind that is nearly enough material to convert 5 years worth of releases 😉 And they did do an app but most players (including me) like their games physical.
It is a new sculpt. The V1 A-Wing is from the classic trilogy and the new one is from Force Awakens.
Classic A-Wing
New RZ-2 A-Wing from the Resistance.
December 12, 2018 at 9:43 pm #1313299@sundancer : 5 years worth ? I’ve seen the prices of those things and it makes GW look cheap.
I must admit my knowledge of Star Wars is limited to Xwings and a few other of the ships from the classic trilogy.
As such I never cared for the vast majority of the releases and lost interest pretty much after the Tie-bombers and such were released.
I do own the Tantive IV, Slave I and Millenium Falcon, because they are iconic and very pretty. -
