@sundancer I do not think the timezones are too bad, lol. Then again I do do shift work. Speaking of which, I did the red while exhausted, and quickly, once I got home from work. As soon as the first stroke of red went on I knew it was the right decision.
@woldenspoons Two? Wrong? Lol Im too tired to get it. If I get another one I think I will do a ghostly themed about it: pale skin with vaguely ghostly looking robes and rusted armour.
Kinda a puppy. Floofy, not metal. The Griff Hound?
Thanks for the compliment. I used to love Orks but my feeling over time changed. Maybe it was the models released, prices, where the game was going, or just changing tastes. I have a serious nostalgia bug for them now and a bunch to paint. Also wanna pick up some other models. I want to do at least three different detachments:
Deathskulls Clan: Heavy Support one (can’t remember the name)
Evil Sunz Clan: Outrider Formation
Bad Moonz: Vanguard FormationJust for fun.
The Mordor Troll is:
(1) Balthasar Gold
(2) Gehenna Gold
(3) Soft tone (AP dropper bottle) applied liberally
(4) A slight dusting of Griffon GoldRed makes the dakka go fasta! Waaaaagh!
Thanks dude. I think a pale, kinda sickly green works. Makes it look more real. Also if it Is muted and more drab the crazy blues, yellows, oranged and red really pop
Haha, that’s our Matty. The Mr Greeze stuff are beautiful minis to be fair.
Thanks for the compliments on the trolls, they were quick and easy. Full of shortcuts. Not intended to be exceptional.
@sundancer Ah, the red era.
@oriskany I surprised myself with how good a suggestion Stephen King was, haha. The robot is a support mech for a board game using even bigger robots. That’s all I know til I start playing, lol. Those are ‘Iron Gobz’ and have been a part of GW 40k Orks for quite a while. Its to mark out leaders.
September 3, 2018 at 3:46 pm #1261891September 3, 2018 at 8:43 pm #1262015Hello Gov’ner… me did a little glue…. and now I wait again…. waiting for PVA to settle is really boooooring XD I also continued working on my Star Wars Gun Air Defense Tower.
And, some may have seen it already, I started a Project Page for all the minis my daughter has painted so far. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1261975/
She also did some “DIY Terrain” but I have to get that and take some pictures 😉
September 3, 2018 at 11:53 pm #1262066September 4, 2018 at 10:04 am #1262144Good “morning” everyone. It has been a bit hectic at work today so I’m just now getting a break to read some posts.
And now, music!
September 4, 2018 at 11:08 am #1262166@oriskany thanks for the tip. Upgrading my scatter is next on the terrain ‘to do’ list, but have a bit to do before I can cycle back around to terrain again…
@mage am warming to Orcs/Orks a little more as time goes on – not really sure why?… Maybe it’s more that they are just a force of anarchy rather than insidiously evil?… Thanks for the tip re the gold – I might try to translate the colours to Vallejo and give it a go 🙂 Yeah I’m thinking of doing a few small Ork forces that can be rolled up into a bigger mob. Will see how I go, don’t want to overcommit (I have a habit of doing that…). Heh, so many Kans… Spiky stompy murder…
Oh wow – that game does look fantastic. Well if you are going to play the mythos card…
@sundancer terrain is coming along nicely. Like the scratchbuilt tower too, very reminiscent of the trench run scene.
3d printer being uncooperative at the moment – I suspect it might be a minor blockage in the extruder… Have tried a couple of things to correct which am hoping will work, not really looking forward to the prospect of stripping it down and rebuilding.. <_<
September 4, 2018 at 12:45 pm #1262234I’m in work so hobby progress slowed right down. Luckily I booked tomorrow (Wednesday) off and will be playing the Walking Dead.
Lee, Clementine and Scott Moon’s debut. Good eye @biggabum. @oriskany the more I look at those figures the more it looks like a box’s cover art. Outstanding work.
@mage Hope you save some of them for Orktober. And no recycling pictures haha.
@evilstu how long have you had the printer and isn’t the plastic expensive?
@oriskany the other choice was Stormin Norman but I think my Deathguard were born to survive shock and awe.
There are some bits on the Deathguard that could be described as fragile, mainly the critters hanging off but otherwise they are sturdy enough being plastic.
@evilstu rawr I eat white primer for breakfast!
@sundancer that terrain is really coming on, can we see the tower with a figure for scale?
September 4, 2018 at 12:49 pm #1262237@woldenspoons it’s not a mini, but the door is the size of a Legion mini.
September 4, 2018 at 3:59 pm #1262343@sundancer What exactly is it? Looks cool.
@woldenspoons Whatever do you mean?
@evilstu Give the GW ones I recommend a try, seriously. Orks are warming to me too. I liked them before. Maybe they remind me of the less serious GW of the 1990s, my teen years, and they are just something different. Destructive and Anrachry yes, but also a bit of fun, colour and comedy in the grim darkness of a far future that takes itself just a smidge too seriously at times.
September 4, 2018 at 5:44 pm #1262361@mage it will be terrain. An interpretation of the turret from Star Wars’ trench run. Something simple for looks and cover
September 4, 2018 at 5:49 pm #1262362September 5, 2018 at 11:37 am #1262745@woldenspoons have had the current printer for maybe a year and a half now? Can’t really remember… The plastic is fairly cheap – AUD$25-$40 a roll which will give you a fair bit of output. I think the roads I printed above (pictured on an 8×4 foot table for reference) used a roll and a half or so.
@sundancer coming along nicely. I can practically hear the pew pew noises already 🙂
@mage haven’t used many GW paints in the last 10 years although the ones I have (the technical paints mainly) have been pretty good. Might give it a go. I know what you mean – less grimdark more heavy metal comic relief 🙂
A couple of hours hitting the printer with progressively bigger hammers and it *seems* to be working ok for linear objects. Will see how it goes on curved objects tomorrow once the current print job has executed. I have quiet suspicions it could just be a dodgy roll of filament…
September 5, 2018 at 11:39 am #1262747I’ve got through a little painting today, more just putting washes on things. Walking dead game in an hour and a half so looking forward to that.
Progress close ups.
Very much in the end game now for them. Perhaps just a red highlight, finish any flesh and do bases. My chaos are usually on snow bases so I may do that with slime pools and trails. And yes. Yellow snow.
Added a flesh wash to my gang but had to pack them away.
September 5, 2018 at 11:49 am #1262750@evilstu I’m really contemplating about if I should ad a raspberry pi zero to it for random sounds or soundtrack music XD
September 5, 2018 at 12:37 pm #1262766Thanks very much @woldenspoons ! 😀
