@biggabum Ooh you selling your Batman haha? #halfkidding

I bought Star Saga on Black Friday but waiting on it being shipped after 7th December. Happy Christmas me! I’m fairly tempted to contact Mantic about becoming a pathfinder. Anyone have experience?

I did work out that the Vigilus Ultramarines are going to be Primaris so I’m tempted to get that book and base my force round that.

    5 Gil for responses.

Yeah… I am always busy now that you mention it, aren’t I? Getting there. Two hours after work last night a headache kinda thing took me and then started to feel cold despite wearing two layers of clothes and a fire being on. Don’t know what was up with me. I bounced back after some medicine and a cup of tea. Even managed to assemble some stuff for Mordheim and start basing Boba Fett. Birthday loot? No, not yet, not so far. I will be getting a Nintendo  Switch with vouchers in the coming weeks.

The first game of Mordheim on Sunday last was Adam’s Middenheimers against Naomi’s Orcs and Goblins.

The Orcs failed several animosity tests in the first few turns resulting in some models not moving, and in one case two of the Orc Boys with light armour and double handed weapons getting into a fight. The Orc who failed their animosity test and charged his buddy got clobbered back.

Magic was flung, arrows were exchanged, and the guys got to learn the rules and learned how to play as well. I had to stress with the Orcs they had to get up close and personal early as their toughness would help more in combat as opposed to being shot at. Also, no animosity tests in a fight.

The Middenheim player, who was gung ho about having a band of strong warriors, ended up holding back, getting his crossbowmen into a good firing position, and waiting in buildings and behind cover like a great big cheese bag! Haha. To be fair, while it was a little wuss-ey (I do not win tournaments haha) but it was a good plan.

    Sadly, no more pictures.

The Orcs moved forward, but their slow initial moves (I did not want to overload a player with how they should play, sometimes having a crap game and seeing mistakes can help them counner it next time around and they retain tactics) allowed them to be pinsered. Their leader got taken out of action by a crossbow bolt, and casualties were higher on the orc side.

I advised my friend, at this stage to voluntarily rout. I explained the disadvantage of fighting to the last and coming out worse, even if she did tough it out and eventually ‘win’. No point winning one game and having a crippled. Afterward we had fun levelling up. Then ordered pizza and started setting up game two.

Next the Skaven faced off against the Marienburgers. While the Skaven player is an experienced gamer, the Marienburger one was not. I have her plenty of tactical advice, as the wide varitety of decision making was a little bit too much for her to decide upon. However, my advice paid off! The two warbands ended up ganging up on each other on different flanks with on-sided fights.

The Skaven managed to take three pieces of Wyrdstone in this scenario (Wyrdstone hunt) and the Marienburgers took one. They ended up inflicting three casualties on each other, with twelve-strong warbands. The next turn saw the skaven pass their Rout test easily. The following, the Marienburgers failed spectacularly. The game ended before reaching a climax, and to me was a narrow win.

Both warbands found more wyrdstone in the post game and one Marienburg Warrior died for good. The skaven ended up making the most money in the post game out of all the warbands and should they hit the table again they will be a force to be reckoned with.

@sundancer I need to get back into Battletech now that the Flashpont expansion has dropped….

So, wimped out on Njials runes, but did the washes I was thinking of and got the eye glow down pretty well:

And started putting down metals on the Deathwatch Leviathan (note to self – leave the arms off next time…)

    @evilstu : how I read those rulebooks ?

Sniffing them one page at a time 😉
I’d guess the only thing slower is my painting speed *grin*

And up next friday : Nemesis … That is if delivery is as planned and it is what I think it is given its Polish source.

Did I mention I haven’t finished Carnevale reading yet ?

I had a “what did I sign up for” moment when the big box of Star Saga arrived earlier this week.
Or rather the two boxes taped to each other.
Mantic sure has a lot of faith in their packing tape …

I’m also having a bit of a storage challenge, so things are in their boxes for the moment. I really need to get this sorted before the really big “OMG What have I done” moment that is the Joan of arc kickstarter wave 1 arrives. At least based on the pre-production unboxing Leo did recently and the one he’s doing now.

oh well … 1st world problems, am I rite ?

@limburger What do you get in the Kickstarter that isn’t in the main game? Obviously at least one more box full. I’ve not read Nemesis yet, please let me know how it is.

I see they have released Krennic and Death Troopers for Legion. I’m so lucky it’s hard to get a game of anything local. Means I can avoid the Suicide Squad Batman game still. @biggabum still don’t want me to match you up?

    @woldenspoons :

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/awakenrealms/nemesis-board-game

The standard game is pretty much inspired by Alien.

The (kickstarter exclusive) ‘aftermath’ expansion is a bit like Aliens as a different crew returns to the same ship after the events of the core game.
The extras change the gameplay of the enemy to make it behave differently (one is more creepy all of them are not your friends).

@laughingboy has a thread about the game :

@evilstu The only way that @sundancer might be called out like that is by a pair of Japanese midget women. You can show your nephew whenever he is ready. These things must be enjoyed at the right age. The “acid” attack might go over his head though.

@biggabum You know yourself well enough to know you’re going to be spending a bit. Better save up before you go to meetings.

@mage I believe that there may be hope for your tabletop game. Like the addiction that biggabum has admitted to so to shall you be afflicted upon finishing this small feature about Adam Savage going to Weta Workshop and looking over terrain. I’m a great help in assisting with mini madness.

    or was that Space Madness?

Really good that you got the gaming in. It’s been some time since I saw a good game get put together for Mordheim.

@sundancer Jeez, you really are sensitive about possibly being chubby. Think of it as a matter of being soft, squishy, generally lacking in hard edges or sharp pokey bits. Like @limburger showed St. Nicholas before think of it as becoming like Santa Claus. All you need now is a big fluffy beard.

Now thinking about the Battletech and PPCs… PCP… LSD… Hey! You really are a Pokemon!

@dawfydd It looks pretty good with Nijal. Line some edge highlights and put a dot of light grey in the eyes and you’re all set. Now with that Leviathan and the Battletech stuff…. I think you might be a Pokemon too from dropping all that PPC.

@limburger I have the disturbing image of someone rolling around in newly printed material as in Indecent Proposal and just inhaling the scent. It doesn’t help with OTT using Basic Instinct in the worst way to conjur such ideas. My Brain!!!

Anywhat, the KS for Brutality is something I’m waiting to arrive at my door with far fewer minis.

@woldenspoons Are you just trying to push that man further along with figures? Tsk tsk… you know as well as I do that terrain takes up more space. I’ll recommend the freight crates and dumspters that Reaper minis has to properly flesh out an urban night fight.

@horati0nosebl0wer I am Wolden Spoons and I suffer from too many games addiction.

There I’ve admitted it. I believe the cure is TO BUY MORE GAMES!

I can feel the missus’s eyes rolling in her sleep.
