Rather than fill this thread with my crap, https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1410162/ if you have any interest in what I am going to be doing for the FoW slow grow league.
@tuffyears what scale are those ships?
June 30, 2019 at 2:40 pm #1410178the Battle of the Denmark Strait ships are GHQ 1/2400th range and the Navwar WW! ships are 1/3000 scale

(not exactly a happy song)
June 30, 2019 at 4:02 pm #1410235@warzan ah yes your now annual pilgrimage to my neck of the woods. Weather is lovely.
But if you see a strange bearded man looking through your window perhaps polishing something below furiously, it’s just me rolling up my character ?.
Pfft everyone else tell me how little you enjoyed my tournament summary.
June 30, 2019 at 6:03 pm #1410266I did read your tournament summary, but despite buying two AoS boxed sets, the Steampunk Dwarf Get Starter Box, and I have loads of Khorne boys, I haven’t read the rules or fluff yet or painted a model and don’t have a clue about it and don’t really have anything to say (for a change).

There are rumours that we’re getting F1 racing at Zandvoort … which will be a miracle if they manage to do that without any incidents and a huge traffic jam.
@robert if you understand 40k then you know about 80% of AoS rules already.
And as with any system … it’s often best to pick an army you like, unless you want to compete because like 40k there are a few factions that will have serious problems trying to win anything. At least that’s what I think with zero battle experience. Chaos seems ridiculously powerful compared to my Gloomspite Gitz. OTOH … I do love the lore of these little buggers.
June 30, 2019 at 7:29 pm #1410272@limburger I own both 7th and 8th Edition of 40k and all the 7th Edition Codexs… haven’t played a game of it since 1996 if my brain is function correctly. I really am more a hoarder, collector, builder and sometime painter than a gamer. I really love what they did with the Kharadon Overlords – though this should have been what Squats should be today.
Not watched F1 in years, but (and I remember this so clearly) the Australian GP in either 97/98 when McClaren fixed the race for Coultard. I watched the race after a drunken night out in my university halls wearing a plastic children’s builders hat and a bottle of disgusting German white wine. I can’t remember what I cooked for dinner yesterday but I remember this.
Anyway, I made a massive mistake in my knitting so did some sowing. This is a dice bag for my Halfling BB team, the Green Sea Snackers. It isn’t very good, but it is knit in cotton so at least I can wash the dishes with it!
June 30, 2019 at 7:37 pm #1410274@robert looks like we’re in the same boat … definitely more of a collector/hoarder than actually playing games.
I did help my nephew and niece play the tutorials of the AoS starter set, which is why I started collecting an army myself as I liked the simplicity of the rules and the look&feel of the grotz.
Disgusting German white wine ?
I’d be tempted to say : is there any other kind … but the few German wines I’ve tasted weren’t that disgusting. So *meh*
I can’t stand red wine of any kind though. Or at least I haven’t tasted any that wasn’t disgustingly dry.June 30, 2019 at 7:47 pm #1410275@limburger Bought the WWE board game to play with my nephew but his phone is too engaging these days! I really like Malbec, probably my favourite red but I know nothing about wine.
June 30, 2019 at 8:25 pm #1410292My knowledge is limited to ordering ‘the sweet white wine’ …
I think that’s Riesling or something when it’s German wine, but that’s just me guessing.
I always have to look at the labels that show what kind of wine it is.Mead is definitely more my kind of drink, although even there my knowledge is limited to the single brand that’s sold at fantasy events like Elfia in the Netherlands.
June 30, 2019 at 8:29 pm #1410293A Spanish friend gave me a bottle of a sweet Spanish dessert wine, which was red. I have one mouthful and it is the only time I have thrown alcohol down the sink in my life. Couldn’t drink it. More a Guinness and craft beers guy but haven’t had any alcohol in 6 months and I don’t miss it. Love gin as well, Ireland has some amazing craft ones but the nicest I have tasted is a Japanese brand but I can never remember its name. It was a £5 a shot but worth it.
June 30, 2019 at 9:20 pm #1410337That is me hobbied out for the day. Got lots done for a change.
