Did a mix of hobby today before and after the movie
Carcharodons librarian vanguard. It will have an earthy Martian crust base. Not sure how to do his stealth robes
Any suggestions?
June 29, 2019 at 1:03 am #1409575Also shields, some other Vanguard Charcarodons skin, and basecoating Nightlords
June 29, 2019 at 8:27 am #1409679@mage maybe keep the robes plane black/grey ? It sort of works already.
I don’t know which colour would match the dark blue without losing the ‘camouflage’ of the cloak.I do think that two opposing armies should have a more visually distinct style, because at the moment both are equally dark.
Keep up the good work 🙂Need to get my mind of the heat …
June 29, 2019 at 11:33 am #1409777One of the advantages of using shot glasses as paint stands with 10mm figures, stackable storage 🙂
Have the Dwarfs varnished now, and the City Guard have got there second wash.
One good thing about this hot weather is that it has finally spurred by courgette into some growth and I even see a fruit on it now. Also Bill and Ben my Sunflowers are looking great!
Dice bag has been started, ripped out, started again, ripped out and it also took an hour to unravel the green wool. Fun!
June 29, 2019 at 3:41 pm #1409901Stackable dwarves … now I’ve seen everything 😀
But why name those sunflowers @robert ?
To stop them from being eaten like any other unnamed plant ?
32 degrees celsius outside according to the news … not going to try and test that number now.
I’m glad it’s about 25 inside. The mystery package was my copy of British vs Pirates pledge.
I don’t know what the heck this is … but it feels like it is ancient :
June 29, 2019 at 3:53 pm #1409906@limburger This is why they are called Bill and Ben…reminds me of these two dudes!
Painting more 10mm this afternoon and have made a little progress on the dice bag. The wool is quite fine, so I have sixty stitches on the needle so a row takes a bit of time to do and doesn’t add very much. The red bit was done in “rib stitch”, which I have never done before so it was slow going.
The green looked dark in the shop, but in real life it looks a bit darker than what this picture looks like on my screen.
June 29, 2019 at 4:52 pm #1409932@robert I never heard of that show, but that’s ok.
I remember watching a show about a wizard as a kid :And of course there’s the ‘Fabeltjeskrant’ :
And like pretty much any country we’ve had our version of Sesame Street, which according to latest news is going into endless re-runs as they claim that they don’t have the budget (because salaries of the happy few are more important than entertaining/educating kids … )
Anyways … the next link is very interesting and kind of creepy :

Yep … randomly generated photos of people.
A few are obvious fakes, but I’ve seen enough that looked like actual people.June 29, 2019 at 5:36 pm #1409939(1) Is Social Media with hobbying replacing forums? Are forums slowing down and becoming less convenient then a Facebook group? There are lots of facebook groups.
Short answer: Yes. Facebook groups and locally Whatsapp. Which is sad because it’s a closed eco system and potential new players are left out. Combining this with people only shopping online kills the hoppy slowly.
(2) Are websites going the way of the Dinosaur? Will search engines and browsers be replaced by social media? I’ll make this a less tenuous link to our hobby. GW have their own store, and facebook pages for their games. On youtube they have Warhammer TV. Is their own Citadel Painting website which is upcoming necessary in this context? Should they keep doing Warhammer TV? Or is this a shameless ploy to move away from one platform to their own for money and control? If it is, is it a bad thing?
Technology is evolving. Constantly. I can’t image what will be after the Internet. Matrix? BTL Chips?
(3) I know photos, articles and other information trickles out at conventions and events for our precious games, but should there be more social media reveals and information? Would it be a better, more modernised and appealing way to broadcast this information, like a Nintendo Direct or E3 where it is also filmed and sent out? Since announcements are done at presentations anyway would it hurt to film and post it?
Yes. Big yes. Especially for those people who either can’t afford to go or simply can’t make time for it.
June 29, 2019 at 5:41 pm #1409940@limburger then you really won’t get this joke
Bill & Ben are in the bath, Bill goes flub-a-lub-a-lub-a-lub. Ben shouts “Did you fart again, you dirty bastard!?”
Sorry you have no idea how much that joke still makes me laugh, even though it is as old as the hills.
Anyway, I used to be very like you in terms of my digital footprint because of a previous job and pictures of me on the pints or at a heavy metal concert would have been very frowned upon, but now I couldn’t really give a fudge. Nothing I say, show or do online isn’t actually anything I wouldn’t say, show or do offline – no one believes me when I tell them I knit, I have to show them photos before they believe me!
The site is interesting, shame they are not real as there were a few I would have swiped right on if I saw them on Tinder (I would also have to download Tinder first mind you).
June 29, 2019 at 6:48 pm #1409942June 29, 2019 at 7:21 pm #1409954@tuffyears as soon as the sun came out today the shed went from cool 24C to 32/33C. Hard to keep the tip of the brush wet. The Tigger looks great though!
June 29, 2019 at 7:29 pm #1409955@robert I get the gist of it … I think 🙂
What’s the difference between a straw and a Dutch comedian?
One is a hollow cylinder, the other is a silly Hollander.//
Two Dutch girls are out riding their bikes when one of them suggests taking an alternate, scenic route home.
After a while they are in an area that the other girl doesn’t recognize and she has no idea where they are or which direction home is.As it is getting towards dusk she becomes nervous and a bit agitated, she says to her friend, “I’ve never come this way before.” And her friend turns to her, smiling, and says, “I know, it’s the cobblestones.”
😉
(ok … I googled them … )
@tuffyears nice Tiger … now go practice pronouncing the word like @sundancer has shown us … 😀
June 29, 2019 at 7:32 pm #1409956@limburger I may or may have not ordered a proper USB microphone…. @brennon had such a hard time with “Kinderspiel des Jahres” from Haba “Tal der Wikinger”
June 29, 2019 at 7:49 pm #1409960@limburger I love that second one! I’ll add it to my routine. Having played rugby most of my life, most of the jokes we told in the changing rooms weren’t always jokes you could tell your mother!
@sundancer I look forward to more “Learn German with the King of Puns” videos. I’m still giggling at the devil telling us to get off his lawn!
June 29, 2019 at 7:54 pm #1409961English people trying to pronounce German is kind of like that policeman from ‘Allo ‘Allo …
“Good moaning!”
So that’s quite a challenge @sundancer
