    Response time…

@lancorz achievements look good, some nice diverse categories. Good to see 🙂

@torros that pirate radio comment made me giggle. I played Elite a bit on the C64. my main source of frustration was the docking procedure – inevitably you have to dock manually before you can get a docking computer, so most of my ships ended up shattered wrecks breaching the superstructure of floating space stations… Brilliant game concept though, way ahead of it’s time (this was the era of side scrollers, text adventures and platform games after all…).

@dawfydd quite enjoyed the main campaign in the Battletech game, since finishing that though I have moments where the game just feels like a mindless grind. But then I remember that I’m running around the Battletech universe with my own mercenary company, and everything seems right again. Haven’ checked out any of the mods yet, might need to look at that at some stage in the future.

@mage have seen reskins/new paint jobs on the pre-painted mins for X-wing but never considered actually repainitning normal ‘toys’ – keen to see how the project works out. The sabretusks (are they still called that?…) were never my favourite GW sculpt but you have made them look quite cool with that colour scheme – well played. Unless I’m reading @lancorz post wrong I think you have infinite Xp to award as usual, and then a separate pool of 500 to award at the end based on achievements? Otherwise we may be out of XP by Sunday lunch if things are busy this weekend 😛

@limburger I was thinking that recipe was looking not too unhealthy until I saw that sugar was listed as 3 of the ingredients. They do look good though… Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on Kill Team. I’m seriously considering jumping in, if only to use it as an excuse to paint a bunch of different small forces and play with some conversions a little. I like the more narrative feel too.

@mage Um.. @limburger has room on the tray for another 40 long finger biscuits?…

@biggabum ok so Matty may be facing the wrong way for the moon, but is he facing the right way for the zombie apocalypse? I think Samuel L Jackson would be great in any role he pleases. Great thing about actors is that the older they get the more experience they have, and the more they can bring to a role. That’s why I think the actors who do theatre a lot as well as films end up becoming so much more accomplished, they have to nail things day in day out every night of the week first time with no opportunity for a re-take. So then you end up with people of the calibre of Dame Helen Mirren, Sir Ian McKellen or Dame Judi Dench. OK, so that might not get cast in the latest hollywood reboot but apparently they do get honorifics 🙂

You can let Matty know that the moon has been doing it’s thing for a few hours now and there are no zombies here so he is probably OK to stand down 🙂 Terrible grainy photo follows (sorry, I don’t have a zoom lens, telescope etc)…

As for answer to my own questions:

    (1) What is your favourite type of biscuit and why – I do not have a favourite. I love Jaffa cakes and JOs (a superior, albeit off brand oreo by McVities I think). I adore Fox classic biscuit bars.

    (2) Favourite Ice Cream flavour (this can be regular old ice cream or a more exotic type thing like Haagen Daz or Ben and Jerrys) – yes, Im kind of hungry, ok? – Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food. Melted. Caraml, chocolate ice cream, marshamllow and chocoalte fish. It is a divine, alchemical confectionary treat.

    (3) The last video game you played? Why did you play it and how did you find it? – Mario Kart on the Wii. I have my N64 set up for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and I have been playing Pokemon Go.

    (4) What have you felt nostalgic about in the last little while? – Toys. Action figures, lego, transformers, the pokemon games.

    (5) Name a random awesome Christmas present you got once and tell us about it. – Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time. I remember being a kid when it came out and firing on the N64 and playing it before bed, as it was late Christmas Eve when I got it. It blew my mind. Going from the SNES to that. Damn.

No guarantee I will reply or respond for the rest of the night. Ill be online tomorrow though. Getting tired and up early for work.

Full disclosure with people: Im rationing points as I have never worked with a preset amount. More points will be given out for hobby and music.

    @evilstu <10 points>

Nice responses to people. 10 points.

Ive added some alternative markings and weathering to X Wing ships. Got half way through a Tie ship a few years back and quit. Got tedioues and boring.

As for the Vaporeon, I will be doing it as a Shiny Version. More on that tomorrow. Was gonna wind down for bed but saw your response, and then the old OCD kicked in, haha.

I cant remember. GW keep changing the names of stuff. Sometimes only slightly. It hurts my head sometimes. Not this time. Im not sure, maybe I did misunderstand, but I will try 500 limit for myself. A constraint might balance things out too.

    Good point. Like Anthony Hopkins.

Elite … that’s a classic. I remember playing it on my MSX and hacking the saved game stored on the cassette for extra credits.
Landing in that slot on the spinning station was definitely difficult. I was glad once I could afford the docking computer and listen to ‘blue danube’ as it landed the ship.

The modern variant (Elite:Dangerous) is a different beast. Although landing is still complex, because you need to ask for permission and then land on the indicated landing pad. It’s kind of like a flightsim in space LOL

    @mage :

Diabetes ? LOL … I’d be having the super duper extra mega infinite variant if that were true with regards to the sugar consumption.

A pack of ‘lange vingers’ of 175 grams contains  +/- 30.
Like all tasty treats there’s never ever enough of them 😉

Besides … the ingredients of all good things are :

    • sugar
    • fat
    • flavour

Usually the first two are about 95% of the recipe.
    (I said good … not healthy ;))

There has been a lack of music … so I hope this one is visible in the rest of the world :

    and one more :

Its been a week already ? Where did the time go ? I’ve got nothing accomplished this past week , to much watching the idiot box , I guess .  On to the questions  1, Fav biscuit – I ‘m partial to my own homemade oatmeal cookies . Always an adventure when I make them , either hard as hell , and you might as well bust them up and eat them as granola , or they all spread out on the baking tray to make one large tasty chewy mess .

    2. Fav ice cream – always been partial to vanilla , best ice cream to add stuff to , fruit , nuts , chocolate chips  , butterscotch , and candy .Even crumbled up oatmeal cookie bits

    3. Last video game – wow , years & years ago , when the kids still lived at home . Dr Mario was always one of my favorites on the Nintendo 64 system . Told you it was years ago .

    4. I’m always nostalgic about music . Love my 70s & 80s rock and metal . This past week been listening to a lot of Blue Oyster Cult .

    5. I remember getting the Airfix French Foreign Legion Fort , back in the 60s . Came with the FFL and a bunch of Arabs on horse back and camels .IMG_20180727_184300204 What a great bunch of play sets Airfix had back in the day . Still wish I had it

evilstu mentioned X Wing repaints , I thought I’ld show a couple of mine . The decals were a pain though .

What are we planning on building / painting / finishing this weekend ?

I’ve still got some work to do on my werecrocIMG_20180720_194728088

Needs some dry brushing and then some kind on base . I was thinking of cutting him off at the knees and maybe making a water type base with acrylic caulking that he’s wading through . Still not sure yet

And I’m working on some foxholes and clumps of trees / foliage for my BA Japanese . IMG_20180606_195310873

A combination of air dry putty for the edges , with dollar store plants , GW spiky ferns , spagnium moss , and various model rail road type ground cover . The troops are cut off just below the waist to help give the effect of standing in a holeIMG_20180606_195326957

Sigh. Cars… Starting them should not take 45 minutes… Ah well, sorted with a new battery now 🙂

@mage exactly like Anthony Hopkins. Like the colour choices on your ogres – very much an Oni feel. Hrm.. wonder if I should do a tailored ‘eastern’ oge unit myself… I must get around to doing up a Gaelic themed unit to go with my friend’s Bretonnian army -mainly because seeing this as a unit on the tabletop coming towards you would just be awesome:

    https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=i&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjQot6l28DcAhXD7GEKHVMIAzYQjRx6BAgBEAU&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cgcreativeshop.com%2Fvectors%2Ffree%2Fobelix-free-vector.html&psig=AOvVaw1AC56pqjrxKLc6gyNQBCQg&ust=1532830106651522

I think I need to start a project log to keep track of planned projects (This is legitimate, I’m actually not being remotely facetious here…). Shading on your Stormcast’s shoulder plates is starting to come along nicely too.

@limburger visible in Oz at least 🙂 Second song sounded happy and upbeat. All that sugar and no issues? Reminds me of a friend of mine who drank 2 litres of Coke a day for 20 years and still has perfect teeth 🙂

@a27cromwell with the juxtaposition of those images I thought for a moment that the werecroc was going to be stalking the IJA for Bolt Action. OPK, separate projects, makse much more sense… I really like the bones mins. Casting isn’t always fantastic but that’s the point I find – it means I don’t feel any pressure painting them and can just have fun without stressing that I’m going to butcher a really nice mini. I like the reskins on your X-wing minis. If I played regularly I’d consider giving something similar a go.

Going to wander off for a bit and see if I can get some work done for the terrain challenge. If I don’t get a bit of progress done today while I can then I’m unlikely to have anything finalised by end of August. Well at least deadlines keep me focused 🙂

The wife’s gonna kill me…. said I would be ten minutes…. that was at half ten…. its half five now…. but I did get Nightwing and Batgirl painted up

    DSC_0202

    annnnd Chris’s Bane Crew built

    DSC_0203

Batgirl was a real pain…. @mage warned me, he did, oh yes. “Watch out for the leg on Batgirl, it very fragile.” He said. Did I listen? Well yes, but big old sausage fingers me managed to snap the ankle while trying to glue it to something to strengthen it…. and its just to thin to pin at the anke. So out came the clippers cut the leg off at the calf then long pin the calf to the shoe and resculpt the leg with greenstuff around the pin and Voila… Load of rubbish so I’ve ordered the Metal version….

@evilstu here’s the Rock Paper Shotgun article that turned me onto the wealth of mods out there.

    Our 10 favourite BattleTech mods

I highly recommend the ones for telling you how much health enemy Mechwarriors have left and Merc Deployments (word of warning, the deployments can be BRUTAL if you don’t have some backup pilots and a mixture of chassis in the hanger…).

@a27cromwell those X-wings look nifty dude. always thought it might be nice to repaint some in the personalized colours of the Rogues from the old Bacta War novel…

See I missed Elite. The closest I got was the I-War series at the backend of the 90’s (in fact I still have the joystick – Microsoft Sidewinder Pro – that I brought to play it), where the unique selling point was you were piloting a 200-meter corvette. italso had an insanely lengthy intro that is still pretty bad-ass:

And the sequel (which was far more free-roaming and closer to Elite) was equally nifty:

    https://youtu.be/hq8P_27BnQA

@mage you requested a link, and here’s one to Snip & Wib’s Codex Compliance playlist. I daft, but coming from a place of love for the subject matter 🙂

    And Powermaster Optimus Prime

Sadly I no longer own my original version, but those lovely folks at Hasbro & Takara resurrected it as an extensive remould of the Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus but instead of the powermaster engine gimmick it got the headmaster treatment as part of the Titans Return line.

    300px-PowermasterOptimusPrime_toy

Takara then went one further to re-engineer the mold to instead of Optimus Prime be Ginrai, hero of Super-God Masterforce, andthen put out a new version of the Godbomber/Apex Armour so you could make Super-God Ginrai.  I don;t have a good picto hand but this is how mine now looks as I’ve also brought a few of the Perfect Effect upgrade kits, and got a 3d-printed replacement for the cannon mount on his shoulder (far less droopy 🙂 )

    pc18-god-ginrai-kit-03

Music? well here’s a little number I always dug from the Cowboy Bebop Movie:

Otherwise hobby for this weekend? Currently reading through Castellan, the latest Castellan Crowe novel, and have The Carrion Throne and the first Horusian Wars novel, Resurrection, on the stack along with the Primarchs novellas for Lorgar, Fulgrim, Ferrus Manus and Jaghatai Khan. Probably won;t get any painting done as again it is waaaay to hot, but I think some iced drinks are the perfect accompaniment to a bit of model building 🙂 Got a few Infinity bits to build and might see about kitbashing up some more Wolves for a Kill-Team…

@mage Yeah, I’ve sort of caught up now as to whats going on. I like the ideas put forward by the BoW team but I think they’ve missed something obvious. Some sort of Incentive for the host. I mean I don’t need to tell you how much time and effort it takes to run this so you deserve something for your effort, as do the stand in hosts when you need a well earned break.

Errrm I pronounce it “That stuff we saw on telly.”  (true). I say Yog urt… with an og not an owe.

Right, 7 Days to die. Well you wake up nekkid (bar a nappy thing) in the middle of this zombie infested world and have to begin crafting/scavenging items to survive. As you go through the game you pick up parts and manuals/books to craft better weapons and stronger building materials. You have to forage for food and drink too or you starve to death. You also need to find or build a base because while lone zombie’s are nasty enough early on and very difficult to kill but slow, at night they become fast and run. Whats even worse is that every 7 game days, there’s a blood moon and that brings Horde Night and the zombies turn super lethal and attack you in a huge horde (and there’s no hiding on Horde Night because they can sense where you are). so if you haven’t found a base and fortified it in the first seven days, yer dooomed. Oh and it’s muliplayer (there is a single player mode but it’s not as much fun) so, even though its frowned upon on most servers, there’s always some asshat that will rob you.

Canon was a fat private eye with a tash, and Ironside was a Police detective in a wheelchair (played by Raymond Burr) so he was the brains and had a team that did all the legwork. You may be thinking of the actor Michael Ironside (Scanners, and was the second Captain in Seaquest: DSV amongst other stuff.)

Nice work on the AoS stuff, its coming along splendidly.

@evilstu hey mate, good to see you back.

Yeah I definately agree with you. There are a number of actors that are just infinately watchable whatever they’re in. Have you seen Red and Red 2 ? Dame Helen Mirren at her best.

@a27cromwell I like what you’ve done with the X Wings, the results are excellent. The werecrock is coming along very nicely. Great idea with the Foxholes, they look really effective.

Might not be on much for the rest of the day. I would like to say its because i’m working on the Bane Crew…. but it’s more likely i’m doing penance 😀

I only caught the last quarter of the bloodmoon.
Didn’t need a telescope as the thing was big.

Thank ye gods of intertubes for videos like this :

    //

While talking about famous space sims … why hasn’t anyone mentioned the Xwing series ?
    Anyone remember the Freespace series?
I remember a mission in which you had to scan an enemy capital ship in a cloaked fighter … no combat, just praying that the cloak wouldn’t fail and you could survive.

At least we’ve got Elite:Dangerous now. Them targoids are back (and scary as heck from what I’ve heard).

If only Star Citizen wasn’t taking ages to get anywhere. That game has been stuck in development hell since kickstarter.
