Nice stuff @fogh ! 🙂
Man, there is so much I do not know about Historicals. What are Imperial Cuirassiers all about?
April 29, 2019 at 12:22 pm #1384052Hi @mage
These guys are the historical inspiration for Empire Pistoliers in WHFB.
Good brief explanation is covered on Warlord’s site here: https://store.warlordgames.com/products/royalist-parliamentarian-cuirassiers
(This current unit is a mixture of Warlord, Perry, Foundry and Horcata.)
These will be part of my Holy Roman Empire army, hence Imperial. The Cuirassiers are the serious, heavy mob element of the army!
April 29, 2019 at 12:43 pm #1384065Im going to enjoy reading this. I loved the older fifth edition Empire Pistoliers!
April 29, 2019 at 12:55 pm #1384071I read that and also the Wikipedia page. Interesting how they evolved and eventually got phased out with more modern warfare. Have to say I prefer the armoured pistoliers though!
April 29, 2019 at 2:36 pm #1384129Yes, the last hurrah of the fully armoured horsemen. Although most European powers still had cavalry called Cuirassiers, some with back and breast plates, up to 1914 and the start of the First World War. 12th August 1914 a brigade of German Cuirassiers tried to assault a position at Halen, but were defeated by Belgian machine guns and artillery fire.
Luckily my Cuirassiers should only (!) have to worry about 17th century musket and cannon fire 🙂
April 29, 2019 at 2:42 pm #1384130Hm. Now I want space marines on horses with dual pistols!
Your Cuirassiers are very fortunate then in that case! Can’t imagine their 1914 counterparts had a pleasant time in the auld hail of bullets.
April 29, 2019 at 6:57 pm #1384232I saw this :

Soo tempting … but I need to finish my minions first. That I promised myself.
Resistance is weakening though.
Moar Music!
It’s Rammstein … so it might not be totally safe for work. The music is cool though.
More privateer goodness :
Yarr!
ooh and this :
And for those who need a really big pair of scissors :
Why is a pirate with a hook not to be feared ?
‘cus he’s armless … 😉
April 29, 2019 at 7:43 pm #1384244@sundancer Hmm… my willingness to go broke for large amounts of troops says no. If I were more crazy to spend cash I’d drop it on Orks or Tyranids to get a basic army up and running. I’d also like something I can look at that resembles something more than running an olive drab rattle can over my models. What little I’ve come to learn about 40k has shown me this.
@mage Tenacity with working out the painting. Continued progress is good to see. Were you switching to using inks on the turquoise areas and the purple purity seals?
As far as the Dreadnought Scythes it is definitely gifting. I figured that the color scheme is bold and might be of interest to look at. One of my brothers isn’t a gamer but I might change him into one. What really pushed me was the fact that the custom kits only work with the full price unit. $(^))&#!!!
@fogh Neat mounted minis. Are those bottle caps for weight?
@limburger Giant pair of scissors?
April 29, 2019 at 7:59 pm #1384246Hi @horati0nosebl0wer, the bottle tops just help me to hold the minis. They are a nice size for a mounted figures and my hand size. The figures are all metal so have plenty of weight on their own

@sundancer Non Star Wars minis on your table? You feeling ok dude?
@sundancer Delightfully terrible joke. I shall reappropriate it

Man Im addicted to Tetris 99. Finished two Marine Sergeants and onto a Lieutenant now. One more go at Tetris and then Game of Thrones!
April 29, 2019 at 11:29 pm #1384308Tenacity is great when one has it, as is progress. Too much of a grind can be a pain but learning how to pace oneself and kind of fighting against laziness is an acquired skill. The old martial arts idiom ‘your greatest enemy is yourself’ applies to a lot of stuff.
On the torquise I was using Guilliman Blue: a GW glaze. As for the purple I cannot quite remember. I think it was a coat d arms basecoat getting lighter with GW purples and an army painter red tone wash to give it a burgundy/wine colour.
Scythes were always a cool Chapter. As for changing him you just need to find the right thing. I discovered with friends it is: eaiser board games that can accommodate a larger group (as in not as easy as monopoly) small miniature skirmish games that are low on space and models (Shadespire) and D&D (a game where they do not need to know the rules or make an investment as such).
Seems like a rip off with the custom kit.
Some music:
