    Uh and I did some hobby. There was a certain gift that was in need of some… “touch up” 😉

    Boba is now magentized and the rest of the case is snowed in so it really looks like a Santa Fett. When I find some miniature parcels I might add some more detail. Fett himself was a gift from @horati0nosebl0wer to me. (I would have put him next to my Legion Minis but those are currently… um… let’s say “hidden” behind stuff… I just don’t have much space and currently the painted minis are all stored away safely.

    Right, so I finished up those Space Wolf/Khorne Berzerker hybrids:

    2019-01-26 11.33.26

    & the Wolf Guard Ancient…

    2019-01-26 11.53.082019-01-26 11.52.482019-01-26 11.52.59

    And made a start on the Company Champion and 2 packs of Long Fangs, these two packing a LOT of Melta….

    That’s me done otherwise as I have the latest Gaunt’s Ghosts book – Anarch – to dive into 😉

    Questions questions….

    What is my kryptonite? Is that what makes me absolutely weak and unable to resist in a good way or a bad way? I think that being sick is the worst thing in the world where I would say I’m adverse to the whole thing. My inability to resist in a more pleasant way either is unmentionable or would have something to do with new shiny figures (just like the streams they do not cross… or something like that).

    I’d say that the Guild from Malifaux is my least favorite. The despotic nature of the group reminds me of what was found under authoritarian governments. The agents of the group lash out with pistol, proclamation, fire and swords (what you Aussies might call knives) with zealous determination to impress order on the world. Having agents at all levels of society, from base paperboys to the heights of bureaucracy with the Governer, the faction seems to desire nothing more than to burden Malifaux with the heaviest of yokes. The fluff in the gamebooks really doesn’t get into the politics/relation with the “real world” back home but I am interested to see how the story is addressed with ‘Through the Breach’ and the follow on game set on Earth.

    The weaponization of muffins has already been done. I cannot make it any better. It was originally accomplished by the late great Gourmand von Doom. It wasn’t long after he got his hands on the legendary infernal cookbook, the Nom-a-Nom-icon, and formalized the Voretility Index whereby ingredients were indexed according to their unstable properties. This was a boon to the lagging sales in the high calorie commercial confection market after so many years of a health conscientious public which had swore off the stuff. Notable not only for their questionable shelf life Twinkies were a best seller to the military after being used as the initial test desserts of destruction. Other forms of highly combustible cookies soon followed but soon led to the formalizing of strict manufacturing regulations to divide between foodstuff and explosives in industrial baking facilities.

    @sundancer Don’t worry about those nice young men in their clean white coats. We’ve got music for that.

    Seeing Boba Fett getting that treatment is great. That’s an awesome as a display. Keeping it from being scuffed definitely looks a lot nicer with the flock added. The original presents were just cut bits of square plastic rod. The bows will give you the issue with the .5mm plastic sheet when you cut to shape. Thinking about it, if you know anybody that does brass photo etching and have an appropriately mask printed up you can get scores of them to a single sheet and only need to glue them on like the details of 1/35 armor kits.

    @sundancer love the Boba Fett, makes me want to do Christmas again…. maybe at the end of the year though.

    @dawfydd excellent work on the Space Wolves mate. Do you Airbrush the base coat on?

    Cool questions @mage

    1) Apart from family, methinks my biggest weakness is saying no to the latest Shiny. Considering i’m on a ban from buying new stuff for the next three months i’m gettin a lot of parcels through the post…. errrm if the wife asks it was a gift 😀

    2) Not sure there’s any faction I would say I actually dislike, there are a few that dont appeal to me but I wouldnt go so far as to say I dislike them. Mind you there’s a few I don’t like playing against…. The Vikings in Saga spring to mind, I just can’t seem to be able to finish them off.

    3) Muffin springs to mind 😀

    Hey All, sorry late to the party this week. @mage a double-header? Thanks for hosting again 🙂

    Woke up yesterday with a headache but headed out early to Cancon anyhow. It was really busy (I need to remember next year to go on day 3 when it is less crowded and you can get to chat to the manufacturers and game developers…). Saw many awesome gaming tables (sorry too crowded for photos 🙁 ) and many innovative terrain pieces and minis for sale. Could have easily spent an absolute fortune 🙂 By midday it was about 40 degrees and I was in need of lunch and something for the head so wandered off early in the afternoon, but not before getting to catch up briefly with community member and all round nice guy @rayzryr who was in town with his daughter to check out Cancon – just sorry that the day happened to be so hot for them, hopefully a good time was had nonetheless. My purchases for the day were mainly hobby consumables that I had planned in advance (primer etc that is difficult to get shipped through the post, plus particular paint colours I was out of) but I did pick up some minis from ex manus studios – a few of what are called ‘Goblin Plague Striders’ – think goblin on stilts wearing a plague doctor mask and you’re on target. Ridiculously characterful, I have no idea what I’m going to use them for but had to stop myself from buying a dozen when I saw them. Lucky I got in early as it looks like he sold out of stock partway through day 1:

    Yesterday afternoon rather than drop in here and post a pledge I figured I’d just actually get the pledge I have been trying to do for the last few weeks done ( I gave up waiting for cooler weather and just holed up in the house with the aircon on and accepted the fact that all the paint was going to go thick due to dry air…). So finally managed to get the 12 Bret knights that I have been attacking for a couple of months painted up.

    20190127_135927a

    But wait, there’s more! I even bit the bullet and put on all the decals (so many decals…)

    20190127_191746a

    Will brush on some AP varnish when it’s less humid and then base and matt varnish. Keen to move onto some other stuff.

    With hobby supplies restocked I was able to prime another few units for my Middenheim ‘built from storage’ army, and kitbashed my way to a unit of 25 halberdiers. they all look a little same-y so if/when I get my 3d printer working again I’ll print out some more torsos and use some of the old 5th ed arms and push the unit up to 40 strong just to have a bit of variety in poses.

    20190127_140846a

    20190127_161930a

    Plan from here on out is to cycle through either the Knights of the White Wolf or Middenheim infantry in small batches (maybe 6 cav or 10-12 infantry at a go) as the colour schemes are different enough that I shouldn’t get too bored. Well at least that’s the theory…

    Replies etc to follow 🙂

    Hey all!

    I hope everyone has been well, and the hobby gods have blessed you with time to spend worshipping at the altar! Haha!

    The last couple of weeks were too hectic for hobby really, though as @evilstu mentioned, this week was capped off with a visit to Cancon.

    It was great to meet @evilstu ? another actual Beast! In the Beast flesh! Thank you for the kind words up there, you are quite the gentleman yourself! @evilstu has lent some assistance to my ongoing Elven project: I now have enough horses for all the mounted Elves I have.

    Yes, I had my daughter in tow, she mostly enjoyed it, though she prefers more main stream geekery: Pokemon, Nintendo type stuff etc. It was damn hot, she got a little overwhelmed by the crowd and the heat, but we took our time and had plenty of breaks.

    Cancon is much more miniatures focused. It was my first visit. It won’t be my last. I too could’ve gone crazy with the shopping, maybe another time. As it was I limited myself to a hand-made dice bag and some new dice for DnD ( my current set are slighty random, and missing a d4).

    Ha! I too obtained those Goblin Plague Striders from Ex Manus. I just had to grab them! I took two, so I can build a couple of options, I think I can mix them in with my Dungeon Saga Goblins.

    I did get some photos, I’ll put them up tomorrow, I might do a seperate thread. I’ll have to see if my crappy old laptop will cooperate ?

    Ill get properly involved tomorrow, replies pledge etc.

    Have fun all!

    @horati0nosebl0wer (5 rings)

    December Acolytes? How many? Two? 5 rings for the pledge. I have an old metal one around somewhere. I always liked the December faction within the guild. Music is good! 😉

    @sundancer (45 rings)

    (1) Well, these are freeform context so whatever you perceive as your own weakness or something, I guess. You. Your krytponite. I have a son but get where you are coming from. Can’t say ‘no’ to your little princess eh? 10 rings.

    (2) 5 points. While all opinions are valid, that is a low hanging fruit and you didn’t balance the answer, which I feel is key 😉 What I would say is check out the horus heresy novels. Marines are far more human in it, and its from a time before their psycho indoctrination and hypnosis sessions in training and they retain their identity and humanity from their homeworlds.

    (3) Muffin mimic? Mufmic? Genius! 30 points! I mean rings. Maybe a bio weapon integrated with the muffin as opposed to chemicals? Froen muffin in a sock as a sock flail? Mind muffins? Dear god man that is genius.

    Just unboxed a transformer. It is quite awesome. Need to feed the dogs soon, unbox a large pop vinyl and an xwing revell kit I got for 8 euros. Then I will tear into my GKR models. Also I want noodles. Haha who wants to hear this? Lol

    So you painted up and constructed a Boba Fett snow globe, which was a gift, and put it into a dice container to theme it all? I love it. Man your killing it this weekend. 40 rings

    Ah and more music.

    @dawfydd (30 rings)

    20 for the Wolf Guard Ancient, 20 for the berserker wolves. Why did you do the Zerker Wolves out of curiosity?

    5 points for reading the book, 5 more for the fresh marines you started.

    Is that a multi-melta in your power armour or are you just happy to see me 😀

    @horati0nosebl0wer (35 rings)

    Nice meme!

    (1) Either way! Ah, you are a spendaholic like myself? Nice. One of us one of us one of us! 5 points.

    (2) 10 points. A good, in depth answer showing a lot of detail and understanding of the game world, but balance to your argument was lacking, sadly 😉 Its very cool though how it is from a fluff segment.

    (3) 20 points, love the answer. Hm, a D&D scenario: a twisted willy wonka style scenario. Combustible cookies, I like that!
