Hello everyone! And welcome once more! Let’s get cracking! Everyone is welcome.

Welcome All to another Hobby Weekender! As per tradition started generations ago, and handed down from wise elders, the intro blurb is shamelessly cut and paste below once again and possibly for all time…:

To the uninitiated, this is a virtual hobby hangout here on the forum. It is something fun and silly with a little more ‘oomph’. Its not just show and tell with your models. Its chatting, getting to know one another, community building. Think of it as a sort of club like hobby session. Everyone is welcome, of course, and there are a few rules to abide by. Let it go as OT as you like with chatting with folks. BoW/OTT is a special, unique community, and this little weekly thread is a tradition on these forums. Though not for everyone, if you are still reading and keen, then it is for you. If not, best click out.

We do a few things on this thread that usually lasts from Friday or Saturday til about Wednesday or Thursday. My say is final in this silly little corner of the internet. Fear not, for this is your safe place against the outside world of flame wars, trolling and all that other crap.

    (1) Make a pledge for the weekend. It can be painting, assembly, priming, converting, background writing, terrain, you name it. Just gotta be relevant to hobbying or gaming.

    (2) Chat with people. Be friendly. Do get to know one another, be kind, provide positive reinforcement and constructive criticism. Do not post up your real name, credit card, bank details or home address info.

    (3) I will list out questions. Answer them. Longer answers = more points. Also, points are being assigned to something else as it confused some folk for a while.

    (4) Awards will be given out at the end of the thread and you shall be awarded XP, added to your account profile by the wonderful @lancorz . Think of him as the ever vigilant Batman of the forums who keeps a careful eye on the status quo, but also acts in a way, like Alfred; with a calm disposition and the attentive nature of a concierge.

    (5) Scottish Pub Law rules: no discussion of religion or politics**. Keep it clean. Behave. Be nice, be kind. Walk away if you get angry. Don’t be a dick.

Also there are bonuses for the following ‘Achievements’:
    · Most Valuable Player (most engaged with topic)
    · Fire Starter (topic starter, encourages the member circulation)
    · Hobby Champ (most hobby over the weekend)
    · Meme Lord (ryhmes, funnies & memes)
    · Pun-Tertainment (best pun)
    · Brush Licker (painting & terrain)
    · Headliner DJ (most eclectic music)
    · Armchair Commander (weekend battle reports)
    · Community Usher (helpful & engaged)
    · Storyteller (weekly discussion & story)

Note: All points are awarded in fictional currencies… sometimes

My pledge for this weekend is to get Leia based and then hopefully start on some Wookie (all arms will remain firmly attached to all bodies!).

What will I be working on this weekend? To the surprise of absolutely no one, finishing off last weekends Grey Hunters and after that? Either cracking on with another squad of Wolves (maybe some Long Fangs?) or the Deathwatch Vets that are in the queue…

Hey guys. Been a bit busy the past couple of weeks but managed to get some painting in on and off. So the pledge for this week is to finish off these guys.

Then, fingers crossed, I’m hoping to get Matty’s Bane Wariors finished and make a start on his Phantom thingy.

@biggabum Blackbanes Ghost Raiders! Man they are tough to deal with. My old regular opponent used a small group of these when we played and they were still a pain in the butt. I mean, do they still regenerate when they kill something and have fire or continuous fire on their attacks? 35 rings they look great.

@mage Thanks. Yeah they’re nasty. Matty was fielding a unit of 6 alongside 6 Revenants  but he’s dropped the revenants and is going with a unit of 10 Blackbanes Raiders now. Yeah not only do they regenerate the unit when the kill sumat but they can actually increase the size of the unit…

In fact virtually all Matty’s Infantry can regenerate lost Guys. As well as Blackbanes Ghosts backed up by Captain Rengrave he will have 10 Mechanithralls backed up by a Necrosurgeon and 10 Bane Warriors with Banelord Tartarus. Then he has that bloody Kraken too. He’s taking Gaspy 1 as his caster with Cankerworm, a Slayer and a Reaper , he also wants to fit in a Pistol Wraith and his Phantom Hellsinger. If points allow he will add some Bile Thralls and/or a Nightwretch or two (for the nodes) and a Skarlok Thrall….. methinks we may be having some big games soon 😀

I’m off to bed after work but here are some questions

    (1) what is your kryptonite. Discuss

    (2) name a faction from a game you dislike and why but also make a balanced argument

    (3) how would you weaponise a muffin? The crazier, sci-fi / magic inspired the better. This is creative and zany

    #1337597

Hmm… this week’s pledge, finish the December Acolytes and possibly finish the gobbo scrap tank I’ll send to my brother. I got the magnets I ordered in and I’ve affixed them with the industrial epoxy to the turret/hull. Now time to get the barrel attachments painted/magnetized.

*yawn* time for bed.. but first @mage … music

    Now some Russki craziness

Geez, these questions always look so easy on first glance.  These are tough.

    (1) what is your kryptonite. Discuss

Oh this one is easy. “It depends”. No, really, we need a bit more context. I can’t speak for everyone but given certain situations there are different thing making me weak. But for a simple answer: my daughter. And I don’t have to explain that to any parent, especially not fathers with daughters 😉

    (2) name a faction from a game you dislike and why but also make a balanced argument

There are so many! But first thing that comes to mind are the SpezMarinez. (Word of warning: I stopped 40k years ago so I can only speak from the past) They are soooooo bland, dull and generic. Especially Ultras. They are the protectors of humanity but lack any human treats. They don’t love, they only hate (if they really hate and not just focus on the enemy. How can you differentiate hate and love when you only claim to feel one). Yes, it’s cheap design decision from way back when but I really can’t stand to see those walking tin cans. They could be robots for all intends and purposes and since they are mostly genetically engineered they are (more or less) biological constructs.  That being said I never really felt a dislike for any faction I just don’t care for them. I disliked multiple miniature sculpture redesigns and I could have done without Anime Gundam in 40k (Tau, I’m speaking of Tau) but I didn’t dislike them. As long as they put up a good fight I enjoy myself. Be that 40, X-Wing, Blood Bowl, Celtos or Star Wars Legion.

    (3) how would you weaponise a muffin? The crazier, sci-fi / magic inspired the better. This is creative and zany

The obvious way would be to poison it or bake sharp thinks in it but that’s lazy. With magic (or biochemistry) you could create a semi-sentient muffin that attacks it’s victim at that moment when his mouths open. Jumps at him and eats his face. *muahahaha* Or (inspired by the Batman movie with Jack Nicholson) use different chemicals in each muffin that are harmless on its own but when a certain combination is digested you explode, go up in flames or just die. And let’s not forget simple mechanics. Freeze the muffin rock hard and throw it at your enemy. Or us a firearm to launch it as an projectile. And for the real nasty surprise: Beam a muffin into the head of someone. *That* will make the autopsy a surprise party! XD

Ok, I hear the guys with the white jackets knocking… later! *muahahaha*
