As Warren is building ghostly figures, I thought we need some Ghost and my favourite song about being afraid 🙂
May 26, 2019 at 11:54 am #1395053Brilliant music choices @robert lol
So I’ve pretty much completed the clean up phase and had my first stab at using liquid green stuff.
Things I’ve learned
1) a small file is easier to use than the fancy GW mold line remover
2) liquid greenstuff is a bit hit or miss… goes on thick but doesn’t fill gaps just as nice as I expected
3) played with using water on a brush to blend and smooth out the results
4) still leaves a bit of a texture behind mmmmm
now deciding whether to prime white or prime black and add a white zenith.
suggestions folks?
May 26, 2019 at 12:17 pm #1395055@warzan when I did my KoW undead, I sort of did both. For my normal regiments I gave my skeletons a white undercoat, then a wash then a gloss varnish to represent a ghostly effect and thought it didn’t look too bad. For the more elite units, I undercoated black, dry brushed them white and then gave them the wash and gloss treatment. It was a good way to get a lot of models done quickly. Seeing the new GW ghost paints, I wish they had of been available but I am still happy.
The gloss makes them hard to photo.

Very happy with the work done. Some tidying to do and then I need to work on LJ’s face.
May 26, 2019 at 4:16 pm #1395087@warzan The Warhammer TV painting team have a good few videos on painting the Nighthaunt including a battle ready and a more detailed approach that are very nice.
Pete the Wargamer also has quite a nice on using the Shadespire Nighthaunt team.
May 26, 2019 at 6:24 pm #1395125Work was a bit busy and my sleep after it was interrupted three times. After housework I am somewhat goosed.

1. 15 points. Interesting to hear from a vet of the early earl editions.
2. Well, all that stuff does still technically exist. There was mention of a half eldar in a bad novel as a sort of legend / poem /fairytale type thing that’s it. Personally, alien hybrid marines are a bit ridiculous to me, and I kind of like what the background is as it is. But everyone’s taste is different. Interesting answer though, 20 points.
3. I completely agree. 20 points. To me there are three things: something weathered well, something weathered badly, or the over weathered Imperial Fists army that covers up a bad yellow paint job.
@sundancer <60 points>
50 points for the write up on X-Wing.
10 points for responses to others. Do you think Adeptus Titanicus or whatever the hell it is called is sort of a slow grow epic?
May 26, 2019 at 6:49 pm #1395130@mage no, the half-eldar person, whose name was Illiyan Nastase actually had rules in Rogue Trader. It wasn’t a bad dream, it was in the first 40k Rulebook. Rogue Trader had a completely different feel than it is now, the Imperium wasn’t the xenophobic place it is now. Space Marines even had personalities. There was a lot more left to the imagination and so many gaps you could do things in. They just decided one day to wipe the Squats out because they couldn’t think of anything to do with the race that wasn’t bearded biker, even though the Epic Squats were amazing with their land trains and stuff. And if anyone is wondering, yes, he was named after the tennis player 🙂

1) I started in third ed, and as like, a ten year old or something they were relatively accessible. It did need a refresh and it was a staple for the time you list. <20 points>
2) 15 points. Its always a good story from 40k
3) 10 points.
Ah heroquest, I have to spray them up when I get a nice day. Overcast now. Hopefully tomorrow.
I love ordering from Firestorm games! But I did do an order with On Table Top for Shadowspear! Now, I wait!
Castlevania is always fun. Aleph eh? 10 points for the pledge.
@blinky465 <35 points>
I noticed, glad you are back!/
How are your hobby projects going?
(1) I have only played blood bowl a few times, but for a skirmish sized game (yeah I know its sports) it strikes me as very slow and bogged down. I know a lot of people love it, but I think it is a game of its time and people view it through nostalgia goggles. 15 points.
(2) You will have to elaborate that on me because the explanation you detailed still doesent mean anything to me.
(3) True. It will be interesting to see what the various painters of various standards across the world come up with. Me? Im gonna hang back and watch. It will be interesting. 10 points10 points for the music.
@crazyredcoat <110 ponts>
Hey man, preaching to the choir with samey pledges with my Minotaurs Space Marines. 15 points.
1. Warhammer Fantasy, which I loved with all my heart, became a warped reflection of itself over time with the rules, prices, meta and army books. It was also a pain in the butt to set up and paint such huge armies compared to six edition. I love AoS for those reason. 15 points. Yes, she is a Darkling Coven model 😉
20 points for sharing all the same, even if it is not new.
2. 20 points, totally agree. They get murdered over and over and over…
3. 20 points, I think we are on the same wavelength dude.
20 points for the music.
@limburger <30 points>
Interesting points, 30 points
@robert <30 ponts>
10 points for the pledge, 20 for the music.
Phew, Page 1 done. Took much longer than I thought.
May 26, 2019 at 6:51 pm #1395132@robert <20 points>
Not disputing it was different or even in bad taste, but I kind of prefer things now. Interesitng piece of yesteryear you shared though, 20 points. That said I still want a copy of the Rogue Trader rules.
May 26, 2019 at 6:58 pm #1395134I decided to try some colour corrections on old minis I painted a while ago. Basically, I made a mistake in research for British Webbing colours and I painted them beige rather than the green colour they were in the field. So I did some tests to see if I could recolour those parts rather than repaint them. Here are my experiments, thus far.
The colours are a bit more vivid in person…but I’m not great at taking pics. 😛

***********************There is a 3.30am?
That’s a long wait for Conquest. I went down to get my two issues from my newsagent, and hes kind of ‘old school Ireland’ where at bang on two pm on a Sunday he closes since he wont get the ‘Mass crowd’ any later than that. Also there are a bunch of First Holy Communions and Confirmations on (Catholic thing for those not in the know), the Fleadh Nua (Irish traditional music festival) and something else on around the town today. So yeah first thing tomorrow morning instead.
1) We should arrange a game? How far are you a flight from me? Lol. 20 points.
2) We could start a private thread somewhere to discuss game of thrones maybe? Calgar does seem like a bit of a dumbass from what you describe. 15 points.
3) Don’t suppose you have a pic of Two-Face-Dreadnought no? Valid point on the best tools we have had. 20 ponts.
To dark? Ah come on, show us your Johnson!
@robert <30 points>
I like the dice bag. 15 points
Odd lyrics. 5 points
10 points for the sexy goal
I wouldn’t worry about apolgosing over painkillers and confusion.
