@evilstu (70 points)
Good to have you back, 10 points. A long reply? 20 points.
It is nice that your group accommodates you for that period of time. Good to have you back in the bunker lol. Life has a habit of getting in the way of life. Paint stripper not activating? Seven hells man… I’m way behind on the weekender shows too. Gonna curl up soon in bed and catch up. Im getting used to it too. With the project logs, please check out my Dark Elf one 🙂
Ogres and Undead. Never together, haha. I really need to catch up on my backlog tomorrow and start posting what I am working on. As well as doing work on it. I did finish my Dark Elves but… I found an old Metal Regiment of Renown unit and they are on the backburner til I finish 1,000 points of Ogres.
Regarding Age of Sigmar, just get a small self contained set… like this:
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-IE/Age-Of-Sigmar-Storm-Strike-2018-eng
Or this, which can be used in Shadespire AND AoS
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-IE/Warhammer-Underworlds-Shadespire-2017-eng
20 points for the responses to everyone.
Glad you missed the thread in our shared absesnces haha. Poor brushes. That’s two recommendations for Knight Rider. Bit of an 80s revival? Yes, do the terrain challenge! 20 points.
Also, could you give us feedback on @warzan ‘s suggestions on funciontallity additions, please and thank you?
@dawfydd Cool picture, 15 points. Is that Overlord beside Devsatator? WAANT!
@evilstu (5 points)
YE gods man what kind of malign sorcery is it? Have you tried… putting it in your hair?

Ill draw this thread to a close tomorrow evening around 10 or 11 pm BST.
July 25, 2018 at 11:42 pm #1240008@evilstu : black magic is good, right ? 😉
all praise anti nurgle for undoing the brush damage …
Twitch presents has finished Doctor Who classic and is doing Knightrider this week.
So if you want terrible 80’s tv they’ve got you covered. Now back to sleep mode.
July 25, 2018 at 11:48 pm #1240010July 26, 2018 at 7:19 am #1240056OK have had a quick look at what @warzan is suggesting. Sounds good but I do have a couple of thoughts:
– Slight danger of potentially perceived elitism or exclusivity by those who do not regularly post if people who do post are awarded a special pool of XP. While anyone who reads or posts regularly will know that we do all we can to be inclusive and encourage others to join in, I am conscious that it does take a fair bit of courage for some people to take the first step and jump in and say ‘Hi’. Would hate to think that in trying to encourage more people to participate that we were inadvertently alienating some. This could probably be managed by continuing to maintain the positive welcoming feel of the thread, so as I said, only a slight concern here.
– Guidelines/framework for XP allocation for those hosting. I know having gone back and reviewed my XP award allocation on weeks when I’ve hosted (yeah, I really am that guy…) that the allocation of XP may depend on how much time I have, how late at night I am posting etc. If there was a framework in place, either automated or even back of house guidelines, it might assist in XP allocation. Further, I wouldn’t want whoever happened to be hosting that week to be accused of favouritism or similar, having a framework in place might remove that perception (or at least provide a defensible and auditable framework should anyone call the host out).
– Mentioning the Weekender thread in Weekender episodes, or Hobby Hangouts may assist in encouraging new participants. Might also be worth considering an early thread start and a frontpage link for those weekends when no Weekender episodes are scheduled and when the content is not replaced by coverage of a convention or similar.
– As far as buttons are concerned, ideas I would float for consideration would be ‘Comment of the week’ for when someone posts and wins the internet, a ‘Getting stuff done’ button for making progress on whatever form of hobby it is you choose to do and posting about it, and a simple ‘Awesome!’ or similar button for when someone posts something superlative. Not sure how many buttons would be feasible, but these are just what I’d consider adding to the list of potentials.
Just the thoughts off the top of my head, will PM if I think of anything additional…
July 26, 2018 at 8:05 am #1240071@mage I think if I was going to try AoS I’d just go in for one of the main box sets from the get go. Even If I wasn’t a huge fan of the rules set they do seem like pretty good value from a price per mini perspective. And everyone always needs more undead, right? Good point re Shadespire though, some nice alternate sculpts to flesh out core forces a little. Will definitely check out the project log – so many awesome projects to catch up on! 🙂 🙂 I do feel a little like a kid at Christmas…Metal Delf RoR? Methinks it must be Menhil’s Manflayers 🙂 Keen to see how they turn out.
@limburger ha, hadn’t considered it an anti-nurgle substance. And yes, if D&D has taught me one thing it’s that Necromancy is just way cooler than anything else spell-wise…
OK, I’m off to see if I can start one of those new fangled project logs that all the kids are talking about…
July 26, 2018 at 10:02 am #1240190OK, project is up, mainly to prove I got some hobby done this week 😛 I quite like the feel of the project system – could inspire me to actually start getting a few projects finished off…
July 26, 2018 at 12:58 pm #1240285July 26, 2018 at 12:59 pm #1240286A more detailed resposne to your material later @evilstu as well as me posting my own stuff. Right now adult stuff calls. Silly car stuff…
July 26, 2018 at 9:02 pm #1240454@mage kinda – it’s 3rd party TF producers Carnifex, aka Last Stand of The Wreckers Overlord, complete with fabulously fulsome lips, alternate face for when Impactor shoots a harpoon in his eye, a gun bigger than most Deluxe-class Transformers and an insane amount of articulation (kindof an MMC hallmark). They do a neat line in TF’s “inspired” by the IDW comics, especially LSotW and More Than Meets The Eye/ Lost Light for the CHUG (Classics Henkei United Generations) collector 😉

Regarding your points:
(1) I fear there is already a perception of elitism and exclusivity with these threads sadly. The subject has been broached with me by a couple of members. I think we, on this thread, need to participate more in other threads rather than have this be seen as a ‘Club’. They aren’t too wrong either, I guess. Theres been a lot of history with this thread. Good and bad. While we have been keeping it going and keeping a more positive vibe up, I think we kind of need to make it our mission to include ourselves in the rest of the forums some more, interact with others outside of here, as well as be encouraging and welcoming.
(2) I don’t think there can or should be too many guildelines. End of the day, a lot of hosting is down to personal taste. That both does and doesent work for everyone, but if you are the one putting aside your time and putting in the effort to host then it kinda should be that way to a degree. Brief but not strict guidelines however could be good. Or even if its down to members liking something, generating XP automatically and giving a total by a date that works too.
(3) That may help but its down to whoever has a say in that. Interest in the thread as well as activity in it has dipped for some time. Im not sure if it would work or help.
(4) Buttons work I think. It would be cool to have. Maybe do a button only tester and see how it goes.
Thanks for all the suggestions. 30 points.

Response to your second post:
That also works for AoS. There are some good entry points for AoS with prices and sets. The models aren’t even alternatives, those little warbands have rules for AoS. Yep, Manflayers, 5 points.
July 27, 2018 at 2:42 pm #1240756Okay, I have totaled up the points. Going back through the thread, and reflecting how I went through it and points, as well as how busy I was and the time I took to reply, additional points are rewarded as follows:
An extra 50 for @biggabum for constant, effort drive, consistent input.
An extra 70 points for @a27cromwell for similir reasons. Its nice to have historical stuff on the thread to mix it up. Ive been guilty in the past of not giving enough points to historicals.
You guys are both great, Im honoured to have you on the thread every week.
An extra 30 points for @tuftyears for sharing pictures and links of his wider collection. Its some super cool stuff you have my man.
An extra 50 points to @limburger for being consistently helpful, polite, nice, and an all round sound dude.

Yes, staute, not trophy. You will need a van for it, haha.
In second place we have @limburger with silver:
And in first, with many pictures, detailed responses and solid hobby as well as posting all week (it probably helps his points that we have a lot of interests in common, which makes me raise an eyebrow at myself for favouritism…), is @dawfydd with gold:

And as always : thanks for hosting 🙂Tomorrow : my killteam box arrives (if the mail man does his job that is ;)).
