I suspect it will depend on whoever is writing the episode …
I suspect we won’t get more than a casual remark, because the series is rarely *that* deep.
As she’s basically starting from scratch I doubt that’ll happen, but her meeting River or Jack could be *eh* interesting.Capaldi was a lot different from his role (no swearing) in his previous tv-show, but other than the odd joke I don’t know if anyone complained about that. I guess the audience for both shows was different enough for that not to matter.
July 22, 2018 at 11:03 pm #1237945It’s a shame really because a lot of Doctor Who is about moral dilhemma. Both Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi were very good at portraying the Doctors angst at some of his decisions. I agree that when they have an opportunity to explore that turmoil deeper they tend to skim over it. 900 odd years of guilt must be kinda hard to live with.
Yes, River, Jack or even Rose (although River is probably aware of his/her present condition). Maybe a post-watershed episode? 😀
I did see a spoof trailer on YouTube where they spliced Capaldi’s Dr with his previous character (not sure of the show or the characters name). I will PM you the link as it’s NSFW.
July 23, 2018 at 1:12 pm #1238336Hey Guys, Sunday got away from me with pokemon go, visiting a cousin, mario kart, painting, watching tv and a date.
I tend not to post too much as I am painting with bad wifi at home and the fact I watch stuff on my computer as I paint. I shall post gradually now throughout the day today with replies and my own material too.

That is an odd problem. I cannot explain that. I’m perplexed the pictures are giving you such varied results, as you describe them.
@dawfydd (40 points)
Then I shall regale you with tales of my adventures, so!
I’d say with your army when it heals more consider weight training to rebuild muscle. Like, when physio and stuff is done see a PT or gym with a focus on weight lifting as a form of physio. Rebuild all that stuff up.
Fallen are super cool to be fair. Can’t wait to see how you paint them.
Can’t argue with the gundam logic. Screaming to be tabletop battled with by the sound of it. Or a sweet diorama. I want to include some in my K47 stuff down the line. I can’t see myself getting around to stuff outside of AoS or 40k til at least Autumn, with the stuff I have planned. Astray?
That dude in the middle is my favourite. It is all impressive but I love the mini, choice of colours and execution. 40 points.
Steel Phalanx? Cool. Cool name for a cool thing. Rolls off the tongue nicely.
@tuffyears (40 points)
Camera shot is a bit blurry. Nurgle Knights? Look cool! Their own army or augmenting another force?
@warzan 10 points for being helpful 🙂

Man there are a lot of things to reply to hear. Can’t wait to get stuck into more, but for now, lunch calls!
July 23, 2018 at 1:40 pm #1238373Whoo hoo!!! I got weekender points 🙂
@mage and all our weekender participants we are working on getting the forums an upgrade to bring them back up to full spec so they do notifications and fully reach out to those folk who were subscribed on the old system.
However we want to go a bit further for the weekender threads and to begin with I was wondering if you guys would like a pool of XP you can award every weekend and also if you would like some custom achievements just for this thread.
We will even try to design up some a cool badges etc for them and start pushing the thread on the homepage if you guys want to see if we can pull in some other participants some weeks.
I’ll let you guys throw around some ideas on how you might like to work XP and achievements etc and if your all cool with it we will start to put it in place for you 🙂
Thank you all for running such a cool and supportive thread every week 🙂
July 23, 2018 at 2:22 pm #1238383@mage I have a huge death guard and nurgle deamon army, just got a renegade knight house to go with it

Glad you are excited to be back. We got a little rain here recently and it was fantastic.
(1) It’s a tad hot. Cooling down here. A nice bit of Who for you. Never saw the older ones.
(2) It’s the weather you are used to isn’t it? We can bring all those hot weather folk over to this part of the world for a time when it rains for three weeks straight. Haha.
(3) What is Kult?
(4) Old school, lobed it. Torchwood was also good. He Man and She Ra take me back. Gonna watch Voltron (the old and new ones) at some point in the future, when I need something for bingeing.
…
How are you finding WD and what is MagPi? Which Killteam are you starting? I want the Scions.
Get painting lad, and post up some pictures too! 🙂
I’m a pale readhead, Im not handling the heat to great either, haha.
(4) Recommend me a tv show.
@biggabum (15 points for feedback and friendly posts to others)
I never experienced sleep walking before. It sounds freaky deaky.
Lego is always good. Yeah, liked the Lego Movie and loved Lego Batman, didn’t see the Ninjago movie. They have been fantastic to watch.
You should be fairly good dude. Me and friends have had no problem with the stuff. Just giving you some info Ive seen crop up a few times.
@a27cromwell Yeah I think there must be a bug on the site again, some of the pic’s arn’t showing for me. Lets hope it’s sorted soon.
A few more weeks might be good, but it makes work stressful as heck.
I didn’t like Matt Smith. Cringeworthy acting and bad writing at times. I need to catch up with Capaldi but I like what I have seen so far.
@tuffyears Cool, Renegade Knights to Nurgle are always cool
@dawfydd (20 points)
I did hear about an exec in documentaries that hated Who. How Childish. I mean, it made them money.
Nomads look cool. 10 points. 10 points also for interactions, feedback and friendly posts.
Is Earth Wars any good? I like some TF G1.

That’s typecasting for you with the first McCoy series.
The Fallen were about half the Legion that went traitor during the times of the Heresy and who are still at large now. A big dirty secret and a staple of 40k lore 🙂
So your initial gambit worked, but things went Matty’s way, you pulled it back, got blindsided once again, and pulled a bold move scraping a win? Awesome!
In my turn I charged his Warlord with my Warriors, hoping to put some fatigue on him to give my ,now in range, Hearthguard a fighting chance. Luckily for me, my Warriors were enough and managed to kill Matty’s Warlord…. although it didn’t save me from having to buy Matty his Big Mac……..
I never watched All Creatures Great and Small…
@biggabum again
They did that to a degree with Matt Smith and David Tenant who had mostly done Theatre before TV , right? Elleston was one of my favourites if not THE. I wish he stayed for another series. He was Dark. I liked it.
July 23, 2018 at 4:30 pm #1238441I think River’s song is firmly told and over, but I could be wrong.
I’d love to see Jack back but it has been years.
Capaldi was good the few episodes I saw. Need to catch up. Very different audiences for both shows. Doubt there is much fan overlap.
Eccleston and Tennant did it good too. One persons angst is another’s ott scene, but I digress. Capaldi was a bit self righteous at times but solid acting, Matt Smith seemed just attention seeking and full of bad pomp (like a pale Jack Sparrow imitation).
Yes, yes you did 8)
All the hard work is sincerely appreciated.
Reading as a type. Wow! Are you serious? That would be amazing. What does everyone else think? I hope that isn’t too much work or inconvenience. Custom achievements sound awesomely fantastic.
Thanks for the focus and work @warzan I am stoked! 50 more points for you? Is bribery a thing? Haha
Sage advice from @torros
July 23, 2018 at 4:32 pm #1238442Cool Nurgle stuff @tuffyears 60 points. Interesting Undead and old Ogryns in the background by the looks of it.
Right, thats everything caught up on. Going to try and post my own content now. Damn, am I spamming this thread, lol.
July 23, 2018 at 4:45 pm #1238444@mage Earth Wars is a decent laugh. It’s a base attack game that happens to feature Autobits and Decepticons, which is novel at least, and there’s a certain kick out, say, seeing Blaster eject his tapes for reinforcement, or Slag bulldozing through lines whilst on fire. Still trying to unlock a Combiner though – cheeky buggers made it so you need 3-Star bots or higher otherwise I’d have Victorion, Optimus Maximus and Superion in play….
and yes, The Fallen are a fun concept. And I dig the idea of renegade Astartes who haven’t fallen to Chaos and instead are still defending humanity in their own way. Adds a bit of nuance to things….
oh, and a Battletech update – the fine folks at Rock Paper Shotgun ran an article on the burgeoning mod scene for it and some of their favourites and my word, coupled with the latest patch they give the game some added oomph. I’ve installed one that lets you see the health of enemy Mechwarriora (handy if trying to take their mech intact), and there is a great one for Mercenary Deployments, which plays to the lore where companies take long term contracts with big payoffs at the end. Only downside your pay between missions is much less so managing your company becomes far more intensive. I love it!!
July 23, 2018 at 4:49 pm #1238445We will definitely start with a pool of XP and lets do the achievements too.
Let’s decide how much you want to give away each week and what cool achievements you guys would like to award.
However I can also have Tom look into a set of nomination buttons you guys can click on each other’s posts to award points to each other.
For example the following buttons
Question
Answer
Funny
Music
Hobby
Helpful
Interesting
etc
We could then do a bit of an automated tally for you guys and award more XP on the fly etc
what do you think?
July 23, 2018 at 4:52 pm #1238446@mage i have a project page on the spooks here. and thinking about using the Ogryns in my 8th edition guard army
