@tuffyears would you like to participate in the thread? Just pledge some hobby for the thread and post away, join in and chat with us 🙂 If youd like, or not.

@dawfydd (70 points – A lot more points awarded for this post, with a lot of ideas and bits I liked, Im just gonna be giving people lumps of points per post now rather than breaking it down, saves time)

A proper response to your post. We are indeed back. Everyone? Like four of us, haha. Man, I wish we had more numbers…

How is your arm? No, this fine weather is not conductive at all. Dark Angels? After painting up Wolves? Hm…

Is he a Praetor or something? Ah, you posted what it is, and I typed as I scrolled. Never mind. Awesome idea.

Cold front? Ah, its on the banner of the site. Not really paying attention to it. Any good?

You gonna paint any of those Gundams? Why 5? Just for fun?

    Finecast was pure crap. Pic?

It was a cool show, I remember watching it as a kid.

    @a27cromwell 50 points.

Those pictures arent showing for me. Perhaps try a free image hosting site like photobicket?

I feel the same about kits. That’s why Id rather a mix of tanks in an army. Its why I hate optimised 40k armies and prefer infantry with modular kits. Oh, look, you have six of the same vehicle, and painted identially too with no conversions or chapter/squad markings? And mono pose models. And identical duplicates of characters with no fun or creative expression put into them.

A huge infantry army with conversions galore and extra bits? My kind of force!

Enterprise series with the Xindi is brilliant.

Im back a little while from a Legendary Raid day in Pokemon go. I don’t wanna annoy anyone with non hobby related stuff but Ill post if any of you are interested.

Can’t quite figure the picture post mechanism out , think the sites still got a bug . I posted 3 pictures earlier today in the Historical thread , in fact one was Tiger I posted here ( or tied too ) . It worked fine in the other thread , but of the other 2 , only 1 seemed to work ? Funny because a week ago , every picture I posted in my project thread worked fine . I hate computers

@mage it’s geeky and you dig it. I don’t have any interest in Pokemon but you do so if you want to post about your raid crack on mate 🙂

The arm is still a bit off – more odd moments of the feeling going in my fingers (sounds worse than it is) and if I  move it suddenly – say to catch something i’ve just dropped – it really flares up.  Should just take time though 🙁

Well I’ve been wanting to kit-bash some Fallen for a while so decided to give it a go 🙂

Never really felt the urge to paint Gundams. kind of for the same reasons I never really got into the Transformers customizing scene when it is really like the perfect Venn Diagram of my interests. 5 because you always need multiples of Grunts.  I’ve got a clutch of the Astrays from Gundam SEED for the same reason (that and they look badass 😉 )

Coldfront looks pretty great to be honest. I dig these intro boxes as CB really give players a decent taste of the Infinity experience (admittedly I brought both the first two Operations when they came out but only played my first game of Infinity last month, but still…). Certainly got me motivated though – I decided to get some of the Infinity minis I’ve had on the go since, oh, before Dark Imperium dropped….

Anyway, here from Aleph are a converted Ekdromoi Hacker, a HVT and an Agema Marksman.

And a shot with some of my previously painted Steel Phalanx.I really do need to adjust the bases at some point…

@timchubb I see a couple of failed uploads in a post just above this one mate (might be the additional dots inbthr filename causing an issue?)

The hobby weekender thread is back … yay 🙂

    (1) What have you been up to in my absence?
Not much of anything really. It’s too bloody hot for anything. 🙁
Can we have some rain please ?
I’ve been watching classic Doctor Who on Twitch in the recent weeks.
Only missed the first 2 doctors and a few episodes that were broadcast at an ungodly hour for us Europeans.

I must say that Colin Baker was a brilliant doctor in the few episodes I’ve seen. The companions in the classic series ranged from great (Leela, Ace, Romana, Sarah Jane) to annoying (Peri) to awful (Adric & Mel). A lot of that is down to the writing though.

    (2) Did you miss the weekender thread? Of course not! Don’t answer this one!
It was (and still is) kind of too hot for too many things so … that’s my excuse.
(I’m sure certain Australians and others will wonder why we complain about 25-30 degrees celcius ;))

    (3) Tell me something interesting you discovered or got or did with hobby this week.
I’ve got the digital copies for Kult. The artwork is amazing and definitely not safe for work (it even features things that would have a certain BoW team member reach for a pair of scissors ;)).
It it however perfect for the setting.
Looking forward to getting the hardcopy for this kickstarter.

    (4) Recommend me a tv show.
Knightrider is up on Twitch on monday … if you want a classic 80’s action series with dubious acting then it might be worth.

And tomorrow (sunday) there’s Torchwood season 2, which is where I think the series finds it style/niche.

    https://www.twitch.tv/twitchpresents

    And there’s He-man / She-ra and Voltron episodes here :

    https://www.twitch.tv/twitchpresents2

If you need to be reminded how awful He-man was that is … 😉

I’ve got a new issue of White Dwarf & an issue of MagPi to read while I’m waiting for my Killteam box to arrive (a little over a week, so possibly hobby in about two weeks).
I also ordered the Team Yankee and Free nations books, because I am wanting to build a proper Dutch army eventually.

Did I mention I hate this heatwave we’re having ?
It’s too hot to do anything really … but I’l try.

Mornin…. half four and Matty sleepwalking again….. nekkid…. apart from a baseball cap…. hellfire couldnt he have put pants on instead…. not pretty…

@mage Lego is always cool… do you watch any of the Lego Movies ? They’re Hilarious.

Thanks, in future i’ll try and see if there’s an unboxing video or article before I order. Hopefully I should be ok, generally, with what I have so far as most of it is the new resins or have the updated cards (i’m hoping that points to it being a later metal). Still a couple of Matty’s Clowns that look quite old so will keep my fingers crossed.

@dawfydd Sons of the Emperor Eh? Do they have a background yet? I take it they meander of the path of rightousness a little 😀 As always great work on the Space Wolf. I really like what you do with those kits.

Infinity stuff looks cracking good too, although I suspect there’s a couple of pics not showing.

@a27cromwell Yeah I think there must be a bug on the site again, some of the pic’s arn’t showing for me. Lets hope it’s sorted soon.

@tuffyears Welcome to the thread Sir and what an entrance, that certainly made me smile. Great work on the Imperial Knights (or are they Renegades?).

@limburger yeah Colin Baker was a very under-rated doctor in my opinion. Mind you I did like them all until Sylvester McCoy.

Don’t want to upset you mate but according to one of the owd dears at the Bus Stop yesterday morning, the hot weather is set to return with a vengeance next week and stay with us untill late September early October 🙁

I know we’ve got at least a few more weeks of this terrible weather … 🙁

I haven’t seen a bad/unlikable Doctor yet to be honest. Then again … my favourite tends to be the last one that I’ve seen (technically Capaldi at the moment, can’t wait to see more of Jodie this year).
McCoy’s Doctor seems to suffer from scripts that rely a bit too much on him knowing a little more than he tells people.

Build high for the Doctor 😉

Watching He-man, She-ra and Voltron cartoons reminds me that there are shows out there with absolutely terrible acting and scripting. As such even the worst Doctor Who episodes are brilliant by comparison.

@limburger yeah, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy’s Doctor’s were both hampered by their runs getting positively crapped on by the bods in charge at The Beeb (just one man apparently, the name escapes but he absolutely LOATHED Who  and  did his damndest to kill it dead). Both have  been far better served by the Big Finish audio dramas by all accounts.

@biggabum well Fallen Dark Angels. I dig the idea of using them in Kill Team using either Loyalist or Traitor rules as the mood takes 😉

@warzan , it does appear some pictures are failing to upload correctly, especially if done in bulk

Built some Nomads I’ve been waiting to get more bases for – had a minor panic last month as Antenocities no longer listed their 25mm Landing Pad style and that’s what I’d based 50 + Nomads with >_< . Luckily it was  just an error during the move to the new website.once advised they were up the following day 🙂

And this is going to be a bit of a tangent but I’ve recently gotten back into playing Transformers: Earth Wars on my  iPad. it just tickles me that you can have a squad comprising Optimus Prime, G2 Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime, Optimus Primal, Ultra Magnus and Star Sabre. Yes, I am a giant nerd for Transformers 😀

@limburger Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t so much McCoy himself as my image of him that put me off him being the Doctor   (I know there’s a lot of people have him down as the best). My problem was that I grew up with him on a TV program called Vision On, and a few other appearances on Kids TV and he played silly and annoying Characters and thats how I saw him at the time. Sadly, after a few episodes, I stopped watching it because I felt my feelings about him were justified. Had I watched his second season I would have been proved wrong, as apparently he turned much darker.

@tuffyears I love Nurgle. Back when I played 40k I had a Nurgle Chaos Marine Chapter.

@dawfydd sounds like a good idea to me. Sort of a Chapter not quite fallen to Chaos yet but on the brink. Walking a fine line between redemption and eternal damnation. Kill Team seems like the ideal place to use them.

Sooooo, Matty loves Saga. In all the games we have played over the last couple of years I have only beaten him once. He refuses point blank to upgrade to version 2 because he doesn’t want to jinx his winning streak. Out of the window went our planned game of Dropzone Commander and in came Saga (Matty wanted a McDonalds and figured he could con me into buying him one by beating me at Saga).

    The battle was on.

I tried something new by putting my Warllord out on my flank with no protection which tempted Matty into placing a Warrior Unit and a small Sling armed Levy unit out on the same flank. However it was a ploy and on my first turn I moved my Warlord back into the safety of my Heathguard units, leaving both his units a long slog across the board to get into the fight. It also meant Matty’s central units were outnumbered.

In all honesty, Matty played well, and after the first couple of turns I did think it was going to be another drubbing for me but a timely use of “Intimidation” (prevents a unit from activating) I was able to delay His Hearthguard for a turn and it gave me a chance to pull the game back a bit.

By the last turn matty played a sneaky move on me, activating his Warlord twice and getting into Melee with my own, removing the fatigue he got from the double move with one of those pesky Viking tricks from the Battle Board. Fortunately I still had a trick of my own and gained a single extra attack dice which luckily was enough to get me a draw in the Melee and force him to withdraw into move range of my only surviving Warrior unit.

In my turn I charged his Warlord with my Warriors, hoping to put some fatigue on him to give my ,now in range, Hearthguard a fighting chance. Luckily for me, my Warriors were enough and managed to kill Matty’s Warlord…. although it didn’t save me from having to buy Matty his Big Mac……..DSC_0190

@biggabum : That I do understand. It kind of sucks when you know actors from certain roles/characters to the point that it makes it hard to like them in something different.

Fun fact : I saw the series “All creatures great and small” on tv before I even knew Doctor Who existed.
Peter Davisons’ character kind of matched his Doctor persona in those I think.
I can’t remember if I ever saw the complete episodes, but a few bits and pieces were familliar when I watched the marathon.

@limburger  I think thats why Peter Davidson worked for me, his portrayal wasn’t too much of a deviation from a character the audience was familiar with. Most of the other Doctors, if I remember correctly, wern’t known for Television roles when they took on the Doctor, mostly stage work, so there was little to no pre judgement on how their Doctor would be.

I had a similar feeling, to a lesser extent, when Christopher Eccleston took the role (moreso with Billy Piper playing Rose in fact) that I didn’t see him as the Doctor but as Christopher Eccleston. I was lucky with the others (Tennant, Smith and Capaldi) as I knew of them as Actors but hadn’t seen too much of them in other parts.

I’m looking forward to Jodie Whittaker taking on the Doctor because I have never seen her in anything yet, so no pre-judgement there. Must admit i’m curious to see how she handles it more than anything. Like will she go all out female from the get go or play it as a male in a female body and getting used to all the different emotions and skill sets. Could make for some very deep TV.
