So guys, Im about to go to bed but wanted to start this early. A shameless copy and paste with questions to follow in the morning. Pledge first! 🙂

Welcome All to another Hobby Weekender! As per tradition started generations ago, and handed down from wise elders, the intro blurb is shamelessly cut and paste below once again and possibly for all time…:
To the uninitiated, this is a virtual hobby hangout here on the forum. It is something fun and silly with a little more ‘oomph’. Its not just show and tell with your models. Its chatting, getting to know one another, community building. Think of it as a sort of club like hobby session. Everyone is welcome, of course, and there are a few rules to abide by. Let it go as OT as you like with chatting with folks. BoW/OTT is a special, unique community, and this little weekly thread is a tradition on these forums. Though not for everyone, if you are still reading and keen, then it is for you. If not, best click out.
We do a few things on this thread that usually lasts from Friday or Saturday til about Wednesday or Thursday. My say is final in this silly little corner of the internet. Fear not, for this is your safe place against the outside world of flame wars, trolling and all that other crap.
(1) Make a pledge for the weekend. It can be painting, assembly, priming, converting, background writing, terrain, you name it. Just gotta be relevant to hobbying or gaming.
(2) Chat with people. Be friendly. Do get to know one another, be kind, provide positive reinforcement and constructive criticism. Do not post up your real name, credit card, bank details or home address info.
(3) I will list out questions. Answer them. Longer answers = more points. Also, points are being assigned to something else as it confused some folk for a while.
(4) Awards will be given out at the end of the thread and you shall be awarded XP, added to your account profile by the wonderful @lancorz . Think of him as the ever vigilant Batman of the forums who keeps a careful eye on the status quo, but also acts in a way, like Alfred; with a calm disposition and the attentive nature of a concierge.
(5) Scottish Pub Law rules: no discussion of religion or politics**. Keep it clean. Behave. Be nice, be kind. Walk away if you get angry. Don’t be a dick.
Also there are bonuses for the following ‘Achievements’:
· Most Valuable Player (most engaged with topic)
· Fire Starter (topic starter, encourages the member circulation)
· Hobby Champ (most hobby over the weekend)
· Meme Lord (ryhmes, funnies & memes)
· Pun-Tertainment (best pun)
· Brush Licker (painting & terrain)
· Headliner DJ (most eclectic music)
· Armchair Commander (weekend battle reports)
· Community Usher (helpful & engaged)
· Storyteller (weekly discussion & story)Note: All points are awarded in fictional currencies…

January 18, 2019 at 6:13 am #1332839January 18, 2019 at 7:40 am #1332840Pledge for the week: Work on and finish up the 1st ed. Pandora crew and get most of my Some’r Teeth crew completed. I’ll have pics of the Pandora here soon as well as the Goblin crew. I’m mostly getting done a lot of work that I had set aside when it was half-ass started when the newest shiny caught my attention.
I’ve settled on painting up the Skeeters like those that spread Chikungunya virus which are more striking than Anapheles which spread malaria. The bad part about these models is that the antennae break easily on the sprue despite being careful. Replacement with 34 ga. wire has been the solution along with some wire to mount them and void breaking their legs while moving them.
These are just basecoats and washes for the moment.
I’ll continue work on the dwarf dirigible but there is a slight snag as I’ve lost the base flight stand. I’ll be ordering 3/8″ clear acrylic rod soon but I have car stuff to put money into at the moment. I’ll work on it as I can without having to mount it to the base. By the by I did figure that using material on hand to build with instead of spending money on resin/shipping would be a better deal.
On the painting side aside from that I’ll spray the goblin tanks with some pigment and calm my urge to cover those with paint as well. The question of palette choice for all these things has been posed and honestly I’m just playing about with what I think works. I dug around and found I had a box of War Dancers/Dance Master for Wrath of Kings tucked into a long forgotten drawer. Looks like one more mass of minis to paint. I doubt I’ll be winning any gold buttons soon for awe inspiring brush wielding but I think that having a wave of work put out might get noticed.
Music to pass the time with… anti nightcore

@horati0nosebl0wer 15 points for the detailed pledge. Lots of info and ambitious. Also, Malifaux
January 18, 2019 at 9:52 am #1332913@mage but I can’t read! *cries in the corner*
(Note to self, start up internet not after one but two coffees… I’m getting old)
January 18, 2019 at 9:53 am #1332914@dawfydd 5 points for the pledge any idea what you will paint
5 points for the seeet dramas cover horatio. Similar to the Marilyn Manson one. Wonder which one came out first…
January 18, 2019 at 10:09 am #1332918@mage thanks for hosting 🙂
Pledge for the weekend
– Try and do some of the stuff from last week (Bret and Empire cav)
– Collate notes I have sketched out for solo AI decks for historical/fantasy settings
– Go on a spare parts hunt through my Elves.
Right now gonna crash though – up to Sydney and back in one day today. 45 minutes sleep and too many coffees….
January 18, 2019 at 10:46 am #1332926@mage not to sure at the moment. I’ve got some bits I might use to put together another 5 Skyclaws as I found out this week Space Wolves can field them in Packs of 5-15, plus the Wolf Guard Pack Leader. Something about sending a blob of raging Space Wolves at my opponent just appeals ?
I do want to get my Wolves done, but I’ve got some 60 odd left to go so will most likely focus on the Company Ancient & Grey Hunter Pack I was working on last time, then pivot back into the Deathwatch for a bit. I do have another Knight on its way that would give me a House Mortan super-heavy detachment as well, so that will probably be the next objective. With my currently painted stuff that’d give me legal detachments of Custodians, Space Wolves and Imperial Knights up to about 2500 points.
Reminds me that I need to have a proper go through my old army cases and point up the old Imperial Guard. Maybe some pictures as well?
January 18, 2019 at 4:56 pm #1333156Okay well I failed completely on the pledge last weekend, hoping to get the paints out tonight and complete the work on First Mate Hawk.
@horati0nosebl0wer those Skeeters look good already – good luck on getting them to look the way you want.
@dawfydd – looking forward to seeing more of your Space Wolves, I have a lot of Marines that need sorting as well as new Primaris from Conquest.
January 18, 2019 at 7:36 pm #1333250I just finished watching the “4Ground Chat: Partners & Publishing” video and I think I must say this:
When ever there is an interview on BoW it usually works like this:
Straight from A to B.
And then there is this video involving Big Ben, @avernos and @dignity and the talk goes like this:
“What a beautiful landscape, what sights to behold so much to see… wait, where were we going? Were are we? Never mind, HIT THE RED BUTTON! FULL SPEED AHEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaad”
I love it XD
January 19, 2019 at 7:16 am #1333445@mage Lol.. that is the Marilyn Manson cover. Nightcore was a subset of hardcore electronic music, related to happy hardcore, which come people might know from jumpstyle artists (Scooter being a major name waaaaay back when). Nightcore was essentially taking something already performed and speeding it up to hit the high pitches normally associated with the vocals of hardcore. Anti-Nightcore is the opposition in slowing things down. I’d say that its something like witchhouse but the two differ distinctly when it comes to original material. You might trace some early precursors in the experimental pieces done by Trent Reznor in his various Halos with noise sample arrangement to witchhouse where Anti-Nightcore seems like something of the alleged reverse play of rock music being satanic messages.
@dawfydd The amount of fur bearing figures that you’ve come to show us all makes me think back to the PETA debacle with GW covered by the always fun TL;DR (aka Teal Deer)
@jodain Thanks much. I’m just getting more things cleared from the cache of halfway worked models and the completion of stuff keeps me going. Making things actually look good and sharing with everybody is a great positive feedback loop.
@sundancer I think that the lack of direction like that comes from the fact that 4Ground Ben builds worlds and can’t sit in one place mentally. There are too many things to wander around and look at as we all get to see (with or without consent).
More dirigible work. The balloon doesn’t fit too perfectly but it will be better with more work. More pictures to be featured in the project.
January 19, 2019 at 7:27 am #1333446@sundancer you have just got to love Ben from 4Ground when he appears, he certainly suddenly turns right when you least expect it. I don’t think it matters who is on the show with him, but interesting to hear as always.
@horati0nosebl0wer that dirigible currently looks like a kind of rocket – looking forward to watching the progress though. I did sit down last night and try to follow the ideas for painting black that you linked me to previously for Hawke, no photos of her today, but progress has been made.
I did sit down and paint last night whilst watching a few videos that have just gone up, the VLOG from yesterday – hope @warzan had some friends round to keep him company, the 4Ground chat and Roman on painting wolf fur. I put some paint down on Hawke, but most notably I put some paint down on Leia. Still working on the advice from last time on photographs:
I tried to modify the videos on painting black for the leather on Leia so started with an Oak Brown, then a Black Ink then highlighting with Oak Brown through Khaki. I’m actually quite pleased with how she has come out.
January 19, 2019 at 8:36 am #1333458@jodain so you’re saying Big Ben is the Spanish inquisition? oO
@horati0nosebl0wer true, he’s an endless wayfarer 😉
January 19, 2019 at 2:13 pm #1333616@sundancer – I never expected ……. anything Ben does.
