    @biggabum – Now, now, now … wine is not always the answer.  There’s also beer, brandy, vodka, liqueur, whiskey, bourbon, tequila  …  😀 😀 😀

    @oriskany True, but whatever I have I shall have to avoid people…. I get extremely silly when drunk…. and I mean silly by my standards (probably won’t take much either as i’m Teatotal 99.9% of the time)  😀

    @biggabum 100% teetotal is the curse of the carer. As for the jam, I’d leave it. Don’t look inside your keyboard if you know what is good for you.

    @mage tough call on the troll. I personally like consistency across a force if that helps?

    How’s the painting/building coming along @oriskany?

    @mage : there’s a “Flying Tiger” store in my town too. I think it’s some sort of scandanavian chain, because they have lots of weird Ikea style names for their bits. Definitely a potential source of interesting terrain and hobby bits.

    We’ve also got “So Low” store which has a metric crap ton of the kind of cheap-ish stuff for hobby’s that could be useful like tiny ‘jewels’. The quality of the stuff they sell does match their name though …

    Great looking dragon/flying lizard type thing.

    @evilstu : my back will be fine … provided I am at home when the stuff gets delivered.
    If I’m not I have things to make life easier, but that depends on knowing how big and heavy the package is
    And that’s info I don’t always have which kind of happened when I got Gloomhaven … *eep*

    @biggabum : consider yourself lucky-ish. I can get pretty mean when drunk so I tend to avoid alcohol.
    One half pint of cider or a glass of wine or mead is more than enough for me.
    So I don’t even attempt to go on until I can’t remember stuff the next day.

    Speaking of mead … Elfia is the weekend before bootcamp. Time to restock my mead supply.
    I still have one bottle out of the 4 I had bought at the previous event earlier this year.
    The whisky flavoured mead variant was suprisingly tasty. I never had real whisky so I can’t tell how close it is to the real thing.

    I once tried a tiny bottle of wodka … *yuck*

    It’s sleep o’clock so good night for now.

    @woldenspoons Funny you should say that, Matty’s younger brother was a Chef and he liked a few pints when he could, changed his career a few months ago and went into caring at an local old folks home and hasnt had a drink since.

    Yeah I gave up on the Jam 🙁 (Just had another doughnut instead he he he…. not a good idea for a diabetic though…. big sugar rush…. probably wont sleep for a month now 😀 )

    @limburger I’m usually not too bad with Cider my big downfall is a Stout, either Murphy’s or Guiness. It’s hard to get a really good pint of either locally but we had a small pub run by an Irish fella who kept both on draught, and knew how to keep them properly. Half a pint of Murphy’s and I was anybodies…. a pint of Murphy’s and I was everybodies.

    i’ve never had mead I should really try it. I dont mind Vodka if its mixed, but neat… yeah yuck

    @evilstu <xx points>

    10 points for feedback to folks, it’s a long post. This is what the threads are all about.

    Work my magic on what? I mentioned a lot of stuff, lol.

    I thought in the first game the White Scars completely annihilated the orks? Probably misread as I was like fourteen or fifteen at the time or something. Probably younger. The issues are still around somewhere. Never got around to reading them. Had a splitting headache after work yesterday and worked it out through painting.

    Frostheim, I like it.

    Nah I do not do ratios. Yet…

    Kill Team is quite… like a yorky bar, I guess?

    I powered through the Fellbeast and Firebelly today. The Firebelly is getting swiftly close to completion, while the feelbeast has a lot of work left. Mainly the skin which is quite a large surface area, and the dead little rohan rider and horse on the base. Then the lava base. Because Riders of Rohan would hang out up on volcanoes…

    Would be great to have you run a thread.

    The metal is: Gun metal over chaos black spray paint, a very slap dash and heavy ish highlight of plate mail, liberal dark tone wash, and shining silver highlight on the edge (all army painter).

    The Gold is: Balthasar Gold, Gehenna Gold, a heavy army painter soft tone wash, a very light dusting of Griffon Gold (all GW except soft tone which is Army Painter).

    @sundancer Kind of underwhelming previews so?

    @woldenspoons Very naughty today!

    @biggabum <15 points>

    Congratulations on the anniversary, dude!

    The dentist can understand you like that? Wow. Maybe they have an app for it. Funny poster. 15 points

    The work station has been scattered temporarily to the quantum winds while the room has been transformed into a play area for my son.

    Thanks for the compliments on the minis.

    @oriskany Don’t forget moonshine

    @woldenspoons Valid poinit on consistency. I have a few armies already: Moria, Isengard, Angmar, Mordor, Harad/Easterlings/Coraisrs so its really a case of ‘which army do I give him to’? I’m 90% sure of doing him like the one I just did with the gold and red. It was quick and fun to paint.

    @limburger Interesting. The flying this is a Fell Beast from the Lord of the Rings.

    Okay, ladies and gentleman, I am calling it a night. Time to total stuff up.

    @evilstu GOLD with 280 points

    @biggabum SILVER with 205

    @sundancer BRONZE with 190

    Thanks to everyone for participating! Here are my notes below if you are wondering about points, how I award, and why who won what:

    GOLD: @evilstu posted a lot of responses, taking the time in detail to write replies and interact with everyone with great effort. Many of you are like this, but these responses are particularly lenghty and detailed. If you write short replies, and are kinda 50-50 with being engaged on the topic and just hanging out and posting stuff and kinda not really mingling (more power to you if you are happy that way) and wonder about why you aren’t getting more points or achievements, well this is it.

    SILVER: @biggabum makes lots of good replies, cracks jokes, interacts with people, consistently posts actual work, battle reports (with a lot of detail, not just a pic or two with no context or any explanation) and completes work. If you wonder why you don’t get the BATREP achievement, then put more effort into crafting your reports and give this guy a run for his money.

    BRONZE: @sundancer completed hobby and was also engaged with everyone. What else is there to say?

    Once more, plenty of pics, interacting, pledges, music, completing work, detailed answers to my questions in the first post (rather than throw away one liners or ‘yes’ and ‘no’) will get you the points, if that is your thing. I’d hate for people to not be clear and wonder why they aren’t getting more or winning achievements; this is why if you wonder. I’m not trying to come across bossy, negative or pushy, this is just my way of being transparent.

    That said I would love it if people gave me feedback on my posting, hosting, awarding, and overall thread management. Id hate people to think I am ignoring them, doing them an injustice or showing favouritism to others.

    Thanks for reading!

    Not gonna lie, @woldenspoons – not started yet on those LRDG.  Interviews for the boot camp, writing for the boot camp, and good ole’ fashioned day job have crushed it.  I really hope to get started on it this weekend.  Meanwhile, I bought another 8 LRDG/SAS troops I hope to have here soon to build up my force to a more respectable level (two vehicles, 16 men).

    Holy Crap, @mage – thanks!  I did not expect to win points this week, I sadly have had little time for hobby.

    And no, I don’t think you’re being push or negative.  Clear parameters for clear awards keep everyone motivated, honest, and fair.

    @evilstu, so are you running the thread this weekend?  I will  have to check it out.

    @oriskany It is a hobby support thread and hang out. Doesen’t matter if you get hobby done (though hobby does = more points). Having the participants, keeping the tradition going and just enjoying each other’s company is more the point imho.
