@sundancer Darn… my wallet is going to look worse than it does this year…. if thats possible 😀
August 23, 2018 at 9:23 am #1256217@biggabum can’t happen to me… I’m at rock bottom…. that’s why I had to pass on Fallout Wasteland Warfare :S
It will be better next year 😉
August 23, 2018 at 10:05 am #1256238A quick FYI the thread ends tonight and either just before midnight or a little after I will give out achievements and doll out points. And try and catch up on announcing an overall winner for the last two other threads too which I sort of forgot about, oops.

Solomon Kane open still? Cool. Your going to run out of space for stuff soon dude, haha
@biggabum <10 points>
10 points for feedback and posts to others.
Thanks. Nothing intentional as you describe it from me, I just kinda did it and it turned out that way without any technical know-how going into the execution. Still, with what you are saying with banners in general its making me want to practice on normal ish ones not made of flesh and see if I can up my game.
A Whinge of Mother in Laws kind of works. Or maybe a ‘Caw’ like the sound a crow makes. What sound does a buzzard make?
Quiet gaming season so?
@sundancer and @biggabum I feel you guys on the wallet front…

August 23, 2018 at 10:12 am #1256253A little funny one for everyone:
And I loved this tutorial, which I never used on my Blue Ogres, which I found online:
On a recent trip to Galway I stopped by the hobby shop ‘Dungeons and Donuts’, a great place. If your ever in Ireland on the west side of the country and not too far from Galway city, you have to check it out.
I also got my first look at Kill Team. While initially I thought that the warband/army/faction starters were overpriced, the box is huge, heavy and actually has quite a lot of stuff in it. This is what I like about going into a shop and seeing a product in the flesh, as well as holding it. You can read about something online and it seems ok or ‘meh’, or the product or item simply doesen’t sink in.
As you can see, it is big! Kind of heavy, and thick too.
I was also in Flying Tiger, not sure how far this chain reaches, but I picked up a nice little haul on the cheap (the Age of Sigmar models were from Dungeons and Donuts, btw):
Shot glasses, multi coloured dice packs and a small bottle of mini dice came in at seven euros. Unpictured are two small packs of road construction signs for use with toys for my son.
My work station as of when ‘N’ and ‘M’ were up to visit (I have to turn the room into a play room for my son today as I have custody this weekend**):
**Which leads me to a request, can anyone else host and do a thread this weekend? I really, really am not in a good position to do it with getting quality time in.
August 23, 2018 at 10:17 am #1256254After completing my 1,000 points of ogres (don’t worry, I still have another 1,000 points or more to do in the future…) I powered through some Lord of the Rings stuff as a change of pace from Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.
Old Metal Witch King of Angmar rider on Fellbeast before:
and after:
I also did an Easterling inspired Mordor Troll over the course of a day (it had some half done basecoats from like a year or two ago, maybe longer):
And the progress:
I got him done super quick by my own standards. Im not sure if the red and brown straps needs another higlight but I finished him with varnish and grass since. Im probably gonna set up the light box and take another proper picture and post it in the WAYPN now thread later. Or in the next few days.
Next I did a brown basecoat on another Troll. Not sure to theme it along with my Easterlings, again, do something more movie accurate, or put him into a different army and theme it… Thoughts?
August 23, 2018 at 10:26 am #1256256Also doing some basecoats, but intending to do a high quality speed paint, on some Morannon Orcs:
Ive also started working on my Fellbeast (for the Witch King) again, an older metal model form the early 2000s.
I also couldn’t stay away from the Ogres too long. After taking weeks batch painting the ten infantry in my free time, and the relative expediency finishing the butcher, I decided to tear into another character. The Firebelly is another Spellcaster available to Destruction armies with the ‘Ogor’ keyword but is actually its own faction oddly enough. Good thing the alliances rules are there now.
I also have some Boglins from Arcworlde ready to go. They come from the Battle of Troll Bridge set. All my current Bayourk faction models have blue pants. I want to make this warband look a little different but also have them be part of the same larger overall force. Grey will be the colour of their clothes, but I intend, at some point, in getting more models and diversifying the colour of the force a bit more. However Ill have to be careful to keep it consistent and coherent. Im looking forward to it all the same.
August 23, 2018 at 10:36 am #1256261I made haste with quick basecoats and heavy washes. Detail work was also done. There is still a lot of drybrushing to do on the wing membranes and other work, but it was good swift progress:
I did more detail work, hilghts, touch ups and washes since.
August 23, 2018 at 12:54 pm #1256325@woldenspoons we can but hope – – I have a stack of Daemonettes still on the sprues -would be good to find an excuse to get around to painting them and revisiting my older models too. They are well-overdue for a touch up and repair 🙁
@limburger ah yes I picked up a Humble Bundle some time back for the warhammer fantasy Roleplay 3rd(?) edition – as you say, great repository of source material. Might have to give the Kill Team tactical squad box another look… Hope you don’t damage your back when taking receipt of your Kickstarters…
@tuffyears congrats on the purchase 🙂 Almost seems a shame to modify it. Almost but not quite 😉 So naturally keen to see you work your magic 🙂
@mage looking forward to the photos. Yeah from memory in the 4 board game batrep that I was referring to previously the White Scars hit a Speed Freaks army head on at full throttle and everybody died (ok i think there may have been 2 or 3 white scars bikers left standing… out of two perhaps 1000 point forces?). So they literally replayed the game with ‘reinforcements’ while they were waiting for everyone else to play games on their boards. Will see if I can track down the old issues, would be good to revisit that story… Ha yes buyers regret is not a permanent state of being – usually passes when I pull the shrink-wrap off of the shiny new thing 🙂 Heh, we refer to our gaming tables interchangeably as taking place in either ‘Mordgrave’ or ‘Frostheim’ given the similarity with the terrain required. Admittedly it’s not pure ‘Frostgrave’ per se, but there are enough other people who play ‘Junglegrave’ or ‘Forestgrave’ that I feel we have enough freedom to play in a slightly more thawed area of the frozen city 🙂
@biggabum congrats on 28 years 🙂 Good to hear that I am not the only one who ‘improves’ or ‘enhances’ rules sets by dragging things across varying rulebooks…
@sundancer anything particular on the games front we should be keeping our eyes on for the next 12 months? Other than maybe Star Citizen…
@mage again thanks for linking that tutorial – I always find it helpful when people provide ratios for mixes rather than just ‘a mix of X and Y’… If that’s how you roll as far as ratios are concerned, then for the greater good please don’t tend a bar or bake pastries… Yes I was genuinely (and pleasantly” surprised by how heavy the Kill Team core box was – and the rule book is soft cover so there is less weight there than there otherwise might have been (rule book is still 200+ pages so is plenty hefty enough as is…). Happy to host this week if nobody has any objections – enjoy the time with your son 🙂 Really like the metal plates on the Troll- is that soft tone ink again to achieve that effect? Sorry can’t offer any advice on the other troll – have the original rulebooks fro back in the 2000’s but never read them (bought the boxed games so I could paint the minis for my cousin…). Might look through them at some stage – i understand that the rules set was the business as far as gameplay was concerned. Wow, powering through the projects – nice work on the Fellbeast and great job on getting the Firebelly up to speed in such short order.
Won’t have much of a chance to hobby before the weekend – still printing road sections but not much progress otherwise so nothing to report really. Will try and come up with a strategy for hobby on the weekend so I can hit the ground running as it were 🙂
August 23, 2018 at 1:06 pm #1256326@evilstu Well Fallout 76 is inbound for this year if you can live with the mandatory multiplayer. Other than that there will be DLC for Battletech, Metro Exodus, Rage 2 and maybe (very maybe) Doom Eternal. The Elder Scrolls VI, Cyberpunk 2077, Iron Harvest and other games are after 2019….
And Star Citizen… yeah…. I’d wish they would just release Squadron 42, that is all I wanted in the first place 😉
August 23, 2018 at 1:07 pm #1256327@evilstu ‘touching up’ Slaanesh models writes itself…
August 23, 2018 at 3:48 pm #1256429Well i’m back from the Dentist and have a new found admiration from them. You’re sitting there with a mouthful of Dentists tools and fingers and they are talking to you and your answering with things like “yargackacak mulimararer fafalagamar.” and they understand everything you say…. anyway no fillings again for me… yay.
@sundancer I think being skint is most definately a trait of all Wargamers…. that and paint in the middle of the bottom lip from getting a point on the brush and black primed fingernails…. and this
@mage Your worksation is a helluva lot tidier than mine 😀 Excellent work on the LOTR stuff, am really liking the Ogre and especially the Fellbeast.
Mmmm Dunno about a Crow, lose the r and you’ve got the Mother in Law spot on 😀
@evilstu Thanks….those 28 years seem to have flown by for me…. not so much for the wife, she says it feels more like 58….. he he he
@woldenspoons now that made me choke on the doughnut I am in no way eating .
… and does anybody know how to get jam out of a keyboard…. licking it doesnt work 😀
August 23, 2018 at 4:09 pm #1256434Ill be back tonight at some point.
Any thoughts on weather I should do my second Mordor troll in the same colours as the one I just did or should I base it more on the movie?
Thanks guys! 🙂
August 23, 2018 at 4:20 pm #1256445@biggabum re: jammed keyboard – disassemble, rinse with water, follow with pure alcohol, let dry over night. (If it’s a PC keyboard. If it’s Notebook…. well…. that’s a bit more fiddly.)
August 23, 2018 at 6:01 pm #1256507August 23, 2018 at 6:40 pm #1256524@sundancer bugger the keyboard mate, i’ve got another one… I just dont want to waste the jam 😀
@oriskany Thank you Sir, I will do my best…. I think wine might be involved 😀
