Before Star Wars: Legion, X-Wing and Imperial Assault there was
It was from Wizkids and highly addictive. I loved it to bits. But just being out for about 15 months wizkids was terminated by topps and the game was gone. I still have all my stuff including a bigger stack of unopened promo sets, tin cans (those where special/limited editions) and battlemaps. But after 11 years I have forgotten how to play.
Do you guys have any game you hang on to despite knowing it will never come back?
March 21, 2019 at 8:52 am #1364304@rayzryr Hey! Hope the game an d movie were enjoyable. How’s the book? 10 points.
@mage get well! glad you have agame plan for your approach to painting that works for you 🙂 10 points.
@woldenspoons looking good! 30 points for hobby progress.
@limburger good advice, 10 points.
@sundancer wow that’s a lot of shiny Star wars loot. Seeing the models all lined up like that kind of makes me want a massed battle small scale SW game. Most of my old games (I hang on to all of them…) just get components re-engineered into whatever I’m currently playing so I don’t have things that really go to waste. (D&D is great for making use of random minis that no longer have another home….). 20 points.
OK team, going to formally close the thread here. Anybody keen to host next week? If not I can host again so no pressure 🙂 As always feel free to keep posting until the next thread is up…

@evilstu Yeah…. I think FFG could really blow some people out of the water if they were to create a mass battle game in the same scale that X-Wing is in and make rules for flyers using X-Wing models… The possibilities! Star Wars: Epic Legions. Hordes of Taun Taun riders fending of Imperial troops XD
March 21, 2019 at 9:23 am #1364327@sundancer we got some 1/300 AT-AT’s and a sandcrawler with the intention of doing something similar. Having had a quick search on thingiverse I’m now just wondering where to source 6mm sci-fi infantry from… ;-P
March 21, 2019 at 9:44 am #1364351March 21, 2019 at 9:50 am #1364356@evilstu at that scale… couldn’t you use *any* 6mm infantry and just paint them white? 😉
March 21, 2019 at 9:57 am #1364358March 21, 2019 at 11:35 am #1364405Hey,
so Alita was great! It totally vibes with the image of a dystopian cyberpunk future that’s always been inside my head! Between that and Altered Carbon, my Cyberpunk dreams are becoming film reality. More please!
Gloomhaven is good fun. It’s very much a board game. Thought it has RPG elements to it, a player very much has to focus on planning out how they’ll use the cards they have to the best value. This time I went too hard earlier in the mission to take down a mini-boss/elite and found my character was exhausted before the end of the mission. Which meant that I was out of the game with about 20 or 30 minutes of play time before the other two guys finished the mission. But we were successful, just! Each game we’ve played has come down to the wire…
The ALH book is interesting. It has some good tips on project management. Some of which I’d already been doing, some of which I’d never thought of. I’ve not finished it yet, though I’m through the main part of the book, being the actual “advice” of the book. The second part consists of example project where Dave shows how he has used this system to organise and complete army painting.
March 21, 2019 at 6:11 pm #1364612Alita definitely was a fun movie.
I’m not sure about the ending myself … I think it ought to have been a tv-series instead of a movie.
btw :
March 21, 2019 at 6:17 pm #1364613@evilstu I thought it was mandatory for any 40k Player to have abaddon in their armies
March 21, 2019 at 7:21 pm #1364619@tuffyears I’m a chaos player and I don’t even own Abbadon. (yet shhh).
Looks like they have recognised the Word Bearers as the first and greatest Daemonkin. I approve.
March 21, 2019 at 8:25 pm #1364632I’d big character models like Abaddon (and the blue smurf equivalent) are not fun in armies, because they kind of take over the narrative of an army.
Then again … I got my minions. I don’t even get to choose a proper big named boss character as a general, so maybe I’m a bit jealous at Chaos getting all the cool toys ? 😉
March 21, 2019 at 9:09 pm #1364634Hi lads… I just did a little more digging… I found my second collectors tin from Star Wars Pocketmodel TCG. I thought it would be empty but it had more ships in it. Plus two build decks. I’ve sorted all the cards and there are some multiples (especially promos) that I have. May I can swap them or sell them off. I’d like to complete the collection somehow.
