    3. 5 favourite songs, albums, artists or even genres from the decade – please post links so we can all experience…

Shinedown (The Album ‘Sound of Madness’ is brilliant and spawned so many hit singles)

Five Finger Death Punch (The Album ‘Way of the Fist’ is amazing, another strong solid mainstream debut)

(not a single but it rocks and a strong opening for an album)

Avenged Sevenfold (The Album ‘City of Evil’ was likewise a breakthrough success into mainstream but not a debut)

(I went with a lyric video as the music video is silly)

Audioslave (A supergroup formed consisting of the late great Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and three members of Rage Against the Machine. Saw them play in Dublin and they were amaing)

Velvet Revolver (Another supergroup formed consisting of the late great Scott Wayland of Stone Temple Pilots and members of Guns and Roses. Saw them play in Dublin a few years ago too when they were still together, very good as well!)

@mage nice paintjob on those. Gold and purple. I still don’t like the pose of the jumpjet-marine-dude.

Thanks @sundancer He is missing a flight base thingy but these dudes are 50/50 with most people.

I have more pics to post up. Im starting to notice omissions and such and Im kind of ‘losing site of the forest for the trees’ with some details so I may start to focus on one squad at a time til completion.

@mage I’ve seen the sculpts on flying (over is it hovering? ;)) base and I still don’t like it 🙂 But you do you. One day I may dust of my Stormboyz.

I like them myself but really can’t work out exactly how to attach them.

I did some spraying (still refuse to do pictures) but I did pour agrax earthshade all over some toy cars and started painting my barn.

@sundancer I agree. Those orbital drop troopers look too static, so even with the base they lack that certain something.

I think they need to have something to indicate that they’re dropping from orbit.
Maybe a bit of smoke from underneath those gigantic rocket pods ?

I picked up some PLA last night and finally (finally) got something more than a ball of goop or plastic spaghetti out of my little Up!Mini printer. I thought I might have been a little previous writing it off, with buying a Prusa i3 clone (arriving Friday, yay!) but thought… well, if I’m printing, why not try printing Castle Grayskull for my He-Man mini to run around in?

    IMG-20190315-WA0000

It turns out the scaling was very wrong on the original file. When I scaled it up to a reasonable size, it didn’t all fit on the print bed! So I emailed the files over to Jon at Eagle Lab Brighton late last night and this afternoon got this photo message.

    IMG-20190319-WA0002

Very exciting! The print time is about eight hours per section, so the tower base is still running (as of 7pm tonight). I’ll pop over in the morning to pick up the pieces and see how they look after a bit of sanding/filling/priming….

(in other He-Man related news, my minis from Quest Miniatures turned up and are primed and ready for painting!)

@kiranamida nice progress! And some nice dynamic posing too. I do like the look of massed Cadians like that. And yes, probably best not to fire up the dremel… 20 points for hobby progress.

@mage nice pics re albums. Congrats on getting to see both Audioslave and Velvet Revolver 🙂 Really like the way the minotaurs are coming along, and you are getting the project progressed really quickly too. does focusing on smaller numbers improve your focus? Haven’t tried that approach – I usually just accept the fat that I’ll need to do a second detail pass on my units after the first colours are down (but then I’m not going for as high a standard as you are achieving). Nice work on the plasma coils too 🙂 40 points for tunes, progress and responses.

@sundancer I see what you did there 😛 Classic track. Yes the jump pack primaris marines do look a little bulky with all their extra armour – I find it helps to imagine them with massive exhaust plumes firing form their jump pack jest and possibly some muzzle flashes and empty ammo shells ejecting from their hand cannons. At least that’s the way I’d go with them if I ever got around to painting my starter set up… 😛 20 points for responses.

@sundancer @mage “Flovering” is now my word of the day 🙂

@woldenspoons congrats on the progress. Happy to see pics when you are happy to post them 🙂 20 points for hobby progress.

@limburger or heat friction effects painted on their feet as though the extra armour on the drop troopers is acting as a heat shield? 10 points.

@blinky465 good to hear you are making some progress 🙂 How big is the print bed on your new I3? Greyskull seems to be printing nicely. And more miis to paint 🙂 How far are you planning on taking the project? I know there were several dozen characters by the end of the initial run of the franchise and no idea what’s been added subsequently… 20 points for hobby progress and getting some results out of your current printer.

@tuffyears looking good! Quite the solid force you have without the incoming reinforcements. Looking at picking up the new Abaddon mini as well? I think it might well be worth it just for the fun of painting him up 🙂 20 points for hobby progress.

OK, haven’t done any painting since the weekend so might try and work on a few character models so I can finish them this weekend…

    Hey all!

Much like like the actual 2000’s, I’ve been too busy with other stuff to do much of any hobby.

I did get a game of Gloomhaven in with a couple of mates on Sunday evening. I’ve been plodding along through Dave Taylor’s Armies & Legions & Hordes in between other things.

Injust wanted to pop in and check out the vibe! I’m off to see Alita tonight, it’s just about at the end of the run.

I might see you in the 2010’s!

    Have fun!

@rayzryr Gloomhaven sounds like so much fun! Also that book too which I missed out on. Enjoy Alita, I wanna see that too.

You could join in and post something anyway for fun?

    @evilstu

Those bands I saw years ago when I was younger. I think they both only played Ireland once so I feel lucky and greatful to have seen them. Thanks for the compliments on the Minotaurs. The Librarian is done: I focussed on him yesterday til completion. While he needs a touch-up (which cannot be completed til more Soft Tone arrives in the mail), varnish and basing he is pretty much done. I am pretty sure I will leave the base rim black and do some Martian Ironcrust over it.

Initially I batch paint on the basecoats, a layer, a wash and maybe another layer. After a while when I see I missed detail X on Y number of models it feels like I am stretching out the project inadvertently due to a lack of being able to maintain focus on a batch of twenty or so models. As a result my patience for batch painting hits a critical mass and I stop it. Then, I focus on small units or groups til completion. I did the Librarian now. Next I will do 2x Hellblasters, 3x Reivers, 3x Reivers and so on in a similar fashion til I get to a squad with more numbers or psychically larger models.

As I said a second detail pass for me (especially on more than one colour) feels like extra steps and annoys me. It is easier to trick my brain and just finish a small batch and think ‘Naaaah this isnt an extra step these are just small quick touch-ups’.

@everyone else ; apologies I havent been too chatty aside from responding to when people actually ‘tag’ me or the like. I realise I am kind of just answering questions, responding specifically and posting pics. Still not feeling great so am kind of doing the minimum on the thread this weekend.
