@limburger yeah the character was from an ‘evil’ campaign where each of us played with a portfolio of characters (so could bring a different character to each session) and we rotated GM duties. By the end of it half of the characters (I’m going to stress that this was the characters and not the players – we still all got along just fine 🙂 ) wanted to kill each other so badly due to thieving of loot, double crossing, backstabbing and treachery that about half of the characters in the portfolio could not adventure with at least one or two of the others. So no doubt Arnold would have had a grand time stalking all of them down 🙂 Personally looking at a couple of marine kill teams (Salamanders and Blood Angels to begin with) plus just all of the Orks… You are right about the space wolf box – just another thing calling to our collective wallets at the moment 🙂
@sundancer it was well worth the effort, and now you will always have a fantastic detailed terrain piece to use 🙂
@mage is that a stompa head? You really are bringing the horde to the table 🙂 That coffin looks quite disturbing – hope it dries for you soon 🙂
@woldenspoons you are right – thay board does look amazing. Glad to hear that the the terrain components details are as crisp as the minis. And yes the Gellerpox should look really thematic tied into your Death Guard army. Are you going to paint them in the same scheme or try something new and differentiate the two factions a little>
September 17, 2018 at 6:06 am #1269348Good morning everybody. It’s monday 7:00 am here in Germany, the weather is fine and I wish you all a very good start into the day… oh, and I’m working only half a day today so maybe I can work on my tower again… if the *peeeeeep* glue on the gras finally dried XD
September 17, 2018 at 6:31 am #1269349@sundancer that tower is great mate, well worth all the work. Reminds me, as you are the scenery guy, how would you make hay bails for 28mm?
@evilstu I think I will do them more traditional skin wise. Match in the orange from the pox walkers. Who I haven’t shown yet.
Either way, Monday morning, work is dawning I think I’ll spend the day yawning.
September 17, 2018 at 6:45 am #1269350@woldenspoons good question… I think a cylindrical base shape like a piece of plastic tube or cardboard. Close the ends with cardboard or plastic-card. PVA glue on the surface and then sprinkle it with static grass (use a more brownish colour if possible) and let dry a bit. Before fully cured try to “comb” the grass in one direction to archive the look of the real thing.
But this is just a theory I never tried it. First thought was “short teddy fur” but hay bails aren’t that big after all.
Also try the toy store for cheap plastic versions and just paint them up a bit.

As long as your having fun with the game that’s all that couns.
Im eagerly anticipating Orktober, and if other peeople do not jump on board Ill do my own thread for it.
I might check out Horizon Zero Dawn but I don’t own any current generation game consoles.
Great Van Fleet – very LZ ey. 10 points, and 10 for the darkness.
Valid point and interesting talk on Kill Teams, 10 points.

Thanks! Maybe a wash on the smoke but that’s all. It awkward with those being all preassembled. Don’t want to break them apart into sub assemblies either but I would prefer sub assemblies with the translucents.
Hopefully, with said nice mix of project, I can summon the strength to get out of bed, eat and then do some. My energy levels are low today, I felt sick at work yesterday morning. Head cold-ey and sinusey. Im looking forward to my two days off starting tomorrow. Aside from a bit of training in the evenings Ill be taking it easy, unless I deteriorate. I could do with either building up a healthy sleeping pattern, vacation or both.
15 points for replies to other people.
Sometimes you need a hobby session like that. Im helping my friend with Star Wars tomorrow again too for a few hours. We might even get some minis done. Its been fun, a bit of a grind, but doing a whole half of a starter set tends to go that way.
30 points for the hobby. How much work did you do? Im not sure what stage the models were at beforehand. Not sure if I am giving too many or too little points, don’t want you hard done by if you put in a butt load of work.

Nice game, 10 points, and good work on the Sudanese so far, 10 points.
40 points for the music, I quite like it.

Im bringin’ da table to da horde. An’ smashin’ it! Waaaagh!
Ahem. 10 points for replies to others. Pretty sure it is dry now but it looks like a tiny tiny part didn’t cure propery but that’s ok. Ill know next time to do smaller thinner smooth layers. It looks cool all the same.
Hm. Maybe I could be a dick and make a powerful vampire appear when someone seizes the objective…
Enjoy the weather! We have a storm due to hit on one of the western coasts.
It does not seem too… with work we are superstitious, it effects us and I could jinks this… ‘severe’, It isnt affecting my region and its ‘only’ yellow so it could be worse.
A bale of hay is not that big? Compared to what, and round or square bales? A round one is big enough, heck they’ve been known to crush people to death.
Yawn away, good sir.

Okay, I feel like a lazy pig, need fresh air and a change of scenery. Im going out for breakfast.
September 17, 2018 at 10:39 am #1269484Somebody asked me on some thread how long it would take me to get to Ireland… I think it was in the thread… I was curious myself and took a peek…. Fastest flight to Dublin was 5 hours with an average of 13 hours flight. Soooooo, no, there is no “quick” way for me to get to Ireland.
You’re all safe!
For now….
September 17, 2018 at 11:54 am #1269517@sundancer half day, nice 🙂 Hope you enjoy it
@woldenspoons if I recall there was a brief demonstration that @lloyd did in a terrain video a few years ago on simple hay bails. It was essentially gluing PVA to a square object and rolling it in what was either accumulated static grass clippings or chopped up coconut husks and then spraying and detailing when dry. Apologies I don’t remember exactly as it was a few years ago and I couldn’t locate on the site (my search-fu is weak…). I think the demonstration might have been an aside while he was showing how to make fields and haystacks? regardless, something along those lines would probably be pretty effective. maybe glue a coil of twine around the middle to look like rope? Of course depending on the game you are playing hay bails may look different. What @sundancer suggests would I think work really well for the more modern rounded hay bails.
@mage hope you are feeling better soon. Don’t sweat the points they are gratefully received 🙂 – have spent a lot of time on the historicals but not much actual progress. Mainly getting distracted by army lists and youtube gameplays… yeah that coffin just screams powerful vampire lord – any clerics in your party? I’m keen for Orktober – trying to hold off on getting prep work started until September finishes. Plus I’m waiting for some conversion bits from Spellcrow to land in the post… Have enough projects going on to distract me presently so no doubt I’ll manage to keep my enthusiasm in check a little longer 🙂 From the look of the thread you put up there seems to be a reasonable number of people who were keen to join in. Are you envisaging something like a mini WAYPN thread where people post what they are youp to for a month?
Managed to get my French detailed and 95th rifles up to the point where all the colours were blocked out and hit them with a coat of AP dip this evening. Will hopefully matt varnish tomorrow and get some flock on the bases and then I will have enough for some starter games of Sharp Practice. Plan thereafter is to start cycling through a few smaller projects for a bit then get back to historicals for some cavalry options. Then put everything else on hold once the green tide rises in a few weeks 😉
September 17, 2018 at 12:50 pm #1269528@woldenspoons check this page out:
https://www.beastsofwar.com/hobby-lab/
If you have a Backstage Pass you will find a video on there all about hay bails and stacks 🙂
September 17, 2018 at 2:07 pm #1269567Put a bit more work into my wardrum, i had the sudden idea of waaaagh!-energy seeping out from the seams with every drum beat, as if the drum was a giant reservoir of waaagh!-stuff. So at the moment i’m working on that. What do you guys think?
i’ll come back to this thread and throw some comments around later today.
September 17, 2018 at 6:51 pm #1269700September 17, 2018 at 8:27 pm #1269748@evilstu : ah … yep, that sounds like the sort of crew he might be hunting.
Evil campaigns definitely requires players to understand that it is just a game.
OTOH … how different is an evil campaign from the average bunch of murder hobos playing ‘good’ guys ? 😉I’ve been reading a bunch of after-action reports from this DCC campaign :
https://therpgpundit.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-world-of-last-sun-from-my-dcc.html
The word you’d be looking for here is ‘gonzo’ …
His ‘RPG Pundit Presents’ series has a lot of info on stuff in this campaign as well as more ‘normal’ stuff to use in an authentic medieval setting and some that can’t be classified (‘dungeon chef’ aka what eating monsters can do to you … )
//
@querion : I like the red, but it doesn’t really match the green glowy stuff.
I also think that it looks a bit too neatly painted for an Orky drum. I’d be expecting more variations of colour to show the various sources of scrap they would have used to build this thing.
@mage : definitely keeping an eye out for anyone starting an Orktober thread. Maybe we could start it with an Ork-themed weekender thread ?
September 17, 2018 at 8:46 pm #1269751limburger , to answer your question posted on the John’s tank Vlog about the 88 ( can’t post picture in those threads .
The 88 , Flak 36/37 had 2 sets of 4 wheel axels that hooked up to the gun mount to move it around ( the earlier Flak 18 had a 4 wheel & 2 wheel set . ) In a pinch the gun could be fired on the wheels but it wasn’t a good idea to fire directly to the sides . The Warlord / Italeri 28mm plastic kits have no wheels include . The Rubicon kit does
Sundancer ,awesome looking gun turret
Querion , I think the drum looks great , the green looks like some kind of energy ( good / evil ? ) trying to get out and “inspire ” the troops
September 17, 2018 at 9:27 pm #1269761@sundancer (30 points)
5 hours isnt too bad. 30 points for the pew pew
@querion is the green an energy effect or verdigris
Maybe Ork flavoured rather than themed, keep it accessible for everyone.
10 points for the write up and picture, interesting stuff.

I did some work on my objectives for AoS and finished two, but have been mostly reorganising my room. Ill take pics tomorrow when I am home and post them all up.
Lads, keep it up with the hobby! No @biggabum this week?
September 17, 2018 at 9:35 pm #1269762I did want to play kill team this evening but my bus didn’t show up. Sad times.
