@tuffyears That is the cat friends of mine are going to have in the not too distant future. They got a Maine Coon kitten a few months back and its already the size of their other cat now at full size.
@oriskany Its all good. If I reallt wanted to recall the stuff that got crammed in my brain then I can always dig around on the Internet or put out the money for a subscription to Jane’s. Thanks again. With regard to ‘mechs and your game I’m reminded of my favorites for Battetech that were part of The Unseen. As a kid and watching Robotech, seeing a friend’s field manual that featured the “veritechs” Wasp and Stinger.
@limburger *sigh* Good music before heading off to work. Thanks buddy.
April 16, 2019 at 10:23 pm #1378466I did hobby!
April 17, 2019 at 3:28 am #1378528Hey guys
been super busy with my boy and only got a snippet of hobby done.
just back from a Dropkick Murphys gig and got some hobby stuff beforehand.
This is from a few days ago. Also managed to wash all the red with dark tone on the Primaris half of ark imperium and finish some unpicturee Ryza ruins
April 17, 2019 at 10:57 am #1378653@tuffyears Now I can sleep easy and that cat is close enough to be an Ewok. Just give it a hood and a house in a tree.
@horati0nosebl0wer that video about dental acrylic was really interesting. I wonder if my local denture repair place would sell me some… Never got into Within Temptation. Was a big fan of Nightwish’s earlier output though.
@sundancer been blasting a bit of Savatage recently. Great band. Star Trek while building Star Wars. Some people’s heads have just exploded!
@blinky465 yeah, I had always thought it was something to do with one of the band members being related to Brian May but it seems he actually meet the band in a Games Workshop store and ended up having a chat and boom, he is on the album 🙂
@mage how was the concert?
April 17, 2019 at 11:07 am #1378661April 17, 2019 at 11:07 am #1378662Still in ‘prep work’ mode – Feels like there should be a lot more here than there is but this is what i’ve assembled and primed in the last few days:
Governor’s mansion (unprimed silver building on the back right) needs a lot of greenstuff. the Longships were really fiddly, but once I started using one of my empty AP magic spray bottles filled with a mix of water and bicarb then the superglue activated much faster. Got it down to 20 minutes a boat for the shields as opposed to the hour a side I had with the first one…
Also got a small cavalry squadron assembles to support the Albion force (back left) – will get to the other half of the box in due course. Now I actually need to start painting some of this stuff…
April 17, 2019 at 11:47 am #1378699Man I have some responses to make
@robert it was brilliant. Three sold out nights at vicar Street and I was there night one with the mrs. So much energy and fun and really worked the crowd. Not sure I can post up videos. I took a few
picked up some stuff at GW, Gamers World and forbidden planet too. Some nice displays
April 17, 2019 at 1:17 pm #1378757Cracked today and finally ordered some Bolt Action activation dice, so might be able to test WoE soon 🙂 New bed sensor for my printer is scheduled for delivery next Tuesday, hoping it’s not too onerous to get up and running again… It should be fine, just swapping out a part but I’m always a little hesitant playing with anything involving electricals and volts and wires etc ;-P
@blinky465 best of luck with the car repairs – always such an inconvenience when it happens. Hope you get a quick resolution 🙂 10 points.
@robert thanks for the suggestion re superglue activator. Had a few empty bottles of the AP activator and was going to go through a process of testing mixing bicarb with water, isopropyl alcohol, methylated spirits and mineral turpentine to see which one worked best. Tried water first and it worked fine so I didn’t get any further 😉 haven’t been able to source AP magic spray or an industrial equivalent locally for about 2 years now so having a DIY substitute is good news 🙂 20 points.
@horati0nosebl0wer yeah your’e right the airbrush might be a bit much – a mate of mine carries his airbrush around in his painting kit but his painting kit is a 2 1/2 foot cube steel toolbox… Hey, I thought the girl in the 2nd Within Temptation video linked looked like tarya from Nightwish.. 🙂 20 points
@tuffyears probably more brutal than an Ewok… 10 points
@oriskany cheers 🙂 yeah planning on doing my AWI on square bases too when I get there. Napoleonics I’ve left on the default round bases that came with but have rectangle 8 man movement trays so they end up being square via that mechanism. I don’t mind round bases for loose formation games but it just brings in too much ambiguity for rank and flank or massed battle I feel. Yes can see the Locust II C comparison too. 10 points
@limburger oh cool! Really liked the look of that Batman KS. Keen to hear how it turned out once you have it in hand. 10 points
@sundancer solid start! Have you had a chance to prime yet? 20 points
@mage I’m with @robert – we need to hear about the concert 😉 More shiny conquest goodness. It’s just getting local distribution here in Oz. Like the idea of slow growing a couple of forces like that but I’d realistically never use them. Still, appreciate the approach they are taking. 20 points.
April 17, 2019 at 6:11 pm #1378831@evilstu – ten points just for buying a rubbish car a few months ago? I reckon I’m due to clean up points-wise then, because not only are the injectors blocked but it also needs a new crankshaft sensor, apparently.
I also did some hobby this week, but I’ll take the easy points too 😉
April 17, 2019 at 6:45 pm #1378833@evilstu : yep, however I reckon the quality is like Mythic Battles and all the other stuff they’ve done so far. So it should be pretty good. 😀
//
@sundancer : I’m guessing you’re watching that episode of Enterprise which has Gandalf tell young Harry Potter to collect them all for their can only be …
😉
//
If you like dragons then Anne Stokes does some very pretty paintings and statues :

April 17, 2019 at 6:52 pm #1378835@limburger no, it’s the one where E.T. steals the tardis and then travels back intime to sample famous people for his school project
April 17, 2019 at 9:21 pm #1378861@sundancer oh I remember that one. This was the alt universe Mr Spock aka Mss Spock, am I rite ? 😉
April 17, 2019 at 10:00 pm #1378885@limburger no, you’re thinking of rule 34
April 18, 2019 at 9:46 am #1378977Hey Team going to formally close the thread at this point. Will kick a new one off tomorrow morning when hopefully the internets have recharged their speeds….
April 18, 2019 at 10:51 am #1379018Hey guys. Im a bit late and the thread is officially closed but I wanna post anyway now that I have the free time. Today is the last day of my son’s visit and I’m at work. Had him a full week which is great but he has been the main focus of my attention and free time. My hobby has been minimal.
I’m hoping to do hobby when I get home; working on my Minotaurs and hopefully assembling my Conquest Terrain. Im hoping to finish at least one colour and aim for two, but it will be time consuming. Ill see how I feel.
I think I’ve fallen behind the conversation a bit so a bit of a swift recap insofar as replies.

@evilstu Neither would I. Maybe more an Inquisition type? Like Ordo Hereticus? I had one coffee on the way home from the gig so that’s like… 2 over the course of 8-10 days now. Im tempted to get one at work now out of sheer boredom but I do not need it. I will need it on my night shift. As for the player base I think we are close to market saturation, unless there is a boom in the economy and people end up making more to spend on stuff and get more time to paint and play.
Nice sprues. Whats the point of no cape though?
Are all those minis for one project or several? Also the shieldwolf bases would look great if the base recess was filled and then the mini was added to the top.
@tuffyears How are you finding Assassin’s Creed Odyssey? Im playing too much Tetris 99 on the Switch. Played on and off for about four and a half hours last night. Cool medal! What exatly is an anniversary prize?
@robert nice assembly of those minis! J
@limburger That Chronos mini is veeeery cool.

@blinky465 It is always nice to see some DIO.
@robert I heard that too, that it was used in Vietnam.

@sundancer Hobby looks good. Its kinda cool to see how consistently what you are working on is Star Wars. Comforting even. Like… a toasted cheese sandwich and bowl of tomato soup on a bitterly cold day.
@evilstu Did you 3d print that terrain and boats or did you buy it? I particularly like the longboats. I dig the Albion army. Man that takes me back. I loved that Campaign. Shame they don’t do ones that are that good any more.
Has the 3d printer caused you much problems or needed much work since you got it? This type of thing is the reason why I’m on the fence about getting one for the foreseeable future.
A new thread? Whoop! Im working a twelve hour day tomorrow, Good Friday, which is a holiday here in Ireland. Its not an official public holiday but most Government workers get the day off and most business close for it. So, it kinda is and kinda isn’t.
Ill see if I can upload some videos to my Instagram and post them here. I’d be more than happy to share videos I just don’t know how to do it. I took a bit of footage at this gig to be fair. It was a great gig. There were two opening acts but me and the mrs took our sweet time checking out nerdy shops and eating in a 50s style American diner and came in half way through the second warm-up. It was a folky (though not country) American rock band called ‘The Devil Makes Three’. There was an intermission and then Dropkick Murphys came out and played for about an hour and a half. I’ll type up more on this shortly.
