I know I don’t often post up music but had a couple of recommends come up, one courtesy of the old Tumblr feed by a promising sounding Mongolian folk rock band, and a superb, haunting performance of Across the Stars from Attack of the Clones specially re-arranged by the maestro himself John Williams for the violinist performing the set….

November 10, 2018 at 10:20 pm #1299900@horati0nosebl0wer : Suckerpunch is probably one where ‘the quest’ is quite literal (get these items, defeat a mid-level boss to get the item, defeat final boss to ‘win’). And at the same time it twists the concept.
Most war movies tend to be ‘quests’ too as they do use the mission concept a lot (Saving Private Ryan, Dirty Dozen). However I’d argue that ‘a Bridge too far’ isn’t a quest based story. Unless a failed quest counts.
Ork Codex had to be in my collection as enemy intel at the very least.
Dark elves and Harlequins are next on my list.
//@sundancer : lol … I’m hungry. ‘gute butter’ and ‘Cervelaat’ … yes I wants it too.
Who thought mayonaise would even fit with that stuff? Heresy I say.//
@mage : the first Doctor Who episode with her is a kind of a dissapointment.
The story is too busy introducing her companions (too many IMHO) before she drops in (literally) and it’s got a bit of a downer ending.
The next ones do get better. The one with the spiders was flockin’ creepy.November 10, 2018 at 10:54 pm #1299931It’s Sunday morning, and all is quiet so far…
Daughter is asleep still and I’m part way through the first caffeination. Let’s do this!
Quest Movie
The old Conan movies, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Proper barbarian quest to slay the BBEG. But I also really enjoyed Scott Pilgrim vs the World too. It was definitely a quest movie!
Race and Character
I’m taking the robot! Has everyone seen the leak/ photo of the text where they come right out and say that’s actually one of the old Men of Iron from ancient Earth? Pretty cool…
Cool this week
Nothing out of the ordinary much but one thing. Last night we had my daughter and my youngest brother over. Ordinarily Daughter is all about video games, but she suggested that playing a board game would be better! So that’s how we got to try Goblin Quest for the first time. We had great fun creating Goblins, concocting a highly unlikely-to-succeed plan and then going about it. Seems that Daughter enjoyed her first RPG experience. Youngest Brother used to play RPG’s with us when we all lived at home, and he was having great fun with this game too.
The pledge this week is Elves. Elves, Elves, Elves. Monday night should see the resuming of DnD Monday after about two months break. More Elves there. We’re playing a party of elves.
Replies and music later, probably this evening after I take Daughter home.

A few tunes from Ethnic Zoorgioo (a group that prominently features throat singing) in apparent production value order that might all be well for questing.
Now for some Huun Hur Tu (a group from Tuva) that also might work well for the quest theme
November 11, 2018 at 11:10 am #1300071looking for bits to use on the bases of my Imperial knights, forgot I had this box knocking around. Pretty sure the contents are 15+ years old…
November 11, 2018 at 11:44 am #1300084What is this Overlord movie then?
@collins Friday evening is totally the Weekend. That’s an entirely legit presumption.
@collins age 11 was doing quite well! Neatly placed paint, nice trim on the pauldrons.
@limburger and @mage I think that Jodie Whitaker as the Doctor is doing quite well! I’ve mostly being keeping up to date with the series which is unusual for me.
The only problem I’m having with it is Bradley Walsh: I know him “1st” as a game show host… so I’m constantly reminded of that… but he portrays that character really well.
@horati0nosebl0wer I enjoyed Dark City, but never really thought of it as a quest movie. But I can see how that works.
@sundancer if you ever come to Australia, no doubt you will be subjected to the most basic of sausage sandwich: the Bunnings!
Caution! Language!! Bad words!!!
@tuffyears noice Ork wurk!
@dawfydd haha! Nice Elf spearman!
Some alternative musical style than your others good people.
November 11, 2018 at 11:53 am #1300085November 11, 2018 at 11:58 am #1300086@rayzryr : I agree she is great. As I said only the first episode was a bit of a failure story-wise.
I guess I’m lucky that I don’t know any of the actors.
At least I thought I didn’t, until I realised she was in “Attack the Block” which is a really cool low-budget SF film.November 11, 2018 at 1:02 pm #1300124@rayzryr from what I can extrapolate of that video… the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle is basically what we (Germans) server as Bratwurst. Minus the onions. Grilled Sausages with mustard and half a slice of white bread. yes, HALF a slice of bread. Cut diagonally. You get your Bratwurst with mustard and a triangle shapes piece of bread! On every corner in this country… And I love it!
Stock Photo for reference
November 11, 2018 at 1:16 pm #1300126@limburger Attack the Block looks like fun! I will have to check it out.
I did some work on Elves. Dark Elves! I’m trying three different skin tones: Drow, Grey and Palid.
The reasoning behind it is simple: these will be universal minis, system agnostic. They may appear in DnD or Warhammer Quest or any other fantasy setting. Their allegiance to each other will be present in their garb rather than looking like clones of each other.
And for for those of you who were playing along at home last week, an update: the Pyramid is complete ?
We had to perform some repair work:
Then paint. A base coat of AP Learher Brown spray, followed by a zenithal spray of GW Zandri Dust. It used a tonne of spray ? and it was still too brown.
We ended up mixing up some poster paint to approximately Zandri Dust colour and painting it on with brushes.
We based it on a 30cm square cardboard tile, which we coated in the time-honoured hobbyist method. PVA glue and sand. A pyramid in the desert, done! No photos of the sand though… d’oh!
November 11, 2018 at 1:21 pm #1300128@sundancer brilliant! I love it! Yep that sounds as though you have it correct. You won’t starve over here then mate and I won’t starve over there ?
Mustard, Tomato Sauce, Onion are all optional. I always take all the options ? haha!
