@dawfydd some nice sculpts but to expensive for me. Plus I don’t like playing proxies. 😉 I’ll just hope FFG does some silly ewoks 😉 (they have fliers ans heavy artillery after all)
February 10, 2019 at 6:01 pm #1346811ok, so got the endo-skeletons on the Knights base-coated;
and then spent a bit of time on the Las-impulsor;
Then decided to try to experiment with some of those colour-change paints from Turbo-dork. It says to paint over a gloss black base, but i decided to see how it would work off of a bright silver base:
this was their Blue-raspberry that I used on my Deathwatch’s power weapons, and I’m really not sure about the results. there is definitely a change in colour, subtle as it is, and from some angles it’s shifts to a golden-green colour. I might try adding a glaze of something like Guilleman Blue to see how that looks….
February 10, 2019 at 9:56 pm #1346923@dawfydd very nice work. Is that a bloodbowl base under the pylon?
I’ve nearly finished my Imperial Specialists. Only varnish is needed. And with that: I’m ahead of the SW:L wave! ALL PAINTED! 8)
February 10, 2019 at 10:10 pm #1346934Actually @sundancer it’s the Knight Preceptors Las-impulsor that I’ve stuck to a regular 40mm base to paint separately from the gun-shield and weapon arm 🙂
February 10, 2019 at 10:16 pm #1346946LOL!!!!! I will force myself to understate this and avoid violation of the pub rules. Italy, in its tradition of Carnevale, has a float that is relevant to the interests of 40k. Long live the God Emperor *my face hurts from the laughing*.
Meme culture has reached epic proportions.
February 11, 2019 at 12:43 pm #1347163Hey!
Ok @dawfydd how was the movie? Seems like you enjoyed it. ?
Hmm, got to check out season 2 of Discovery.
@sundancer haha! Ewoks, nice! That’d really bend some meta-power-gamers heads out of shape. Also, what @evilstu said: Gungans. I know I thought of that too. I wonder which would induce a rage- fit first? ?
A state of cat-like readiness you say?
Cool work on the droids. Is there any room in the game to paint them as alternatives? I was thinking this with the new multipart Bossk and Sabine recently announced.
Ummm @woldenspoons Suicide Squad in Infinity? You mean like Die Morlock Gruppe for the Nomads?
https://store.corvusbelli.com/products/nomads/280591-0696-die-morlock-gruppe
I don’t the Suicide Squad That well, but I think Captain Boomerang, (I dunno the masked girl with the katana), Killer Croc and Harley Quinn are there?
@mage you’ve got a good spread of ideas there!
@horati0nosebl0wer Bloodbowl is an old fav of mine. It would’ve been good to see other Chaos based teams that play like their god. Tricky shenanigans for Tzeentch, but not the toughest hardest players. Kinda like Skaven perhaps.
Slaanesh? Don’t be so sure the Prince of Excess is out completely yet. The recent Daemon box set is perhaps proof of that? Slaanesh could perhaps be a tricky one to get to grips with: I’d say they’d probably need skills to bring out the real flavour of Slaanesh… (probably doesn’t bare thinking to much about that, lol)
Indeed, Bunyip were the Garou breed of Australia. They were Thylacines (Tasmanian Tigers). Driven to extinction by the invasion of the Europeans (both in game and real life). Now to be fair to White Wolf, I don’t know what research or information fed into their fiction. Perhaps they had good info that I’m not aware of.
But here’s the thing: the Thylacine is called the Tasmanian tiger for good reason. At the time of European colonisation that species was pretty much limited to the island of Tasmania.
That means, in all of the Australian continent, our Garou were reliant on a very restricted population, on a remote island (that even today takes a ferry about 9.5 hours to reach) in a time when the indigenous population had no maritime technology.
Here some images put that into context:
Now this can all be stepped around in story, neatly, by stepping-sideways… (that’s an Umbra joke for the non-Garou amongst us). But it seems an unlikely scenario when it’s put into context.
And this is only the Werewolf component of the old World of Darkness. Wraith wasn’t much better. A Well of Guilt ffs.
Ok, I didn’t mean to go off on a rant, but yeah it always felt that when Australia finally got a mention in these games (games that I played and loved), it wasn’t genuine.
oh man, I’m going to have to check out God Emperor Trump tomorrow. Every one else has gone to bed now, can’t be waking them up laughing…
@evilstu that’s some sweet looking Barbican… That’s A sweet looking Barbican… ?
Great work on the terrain! Lol!
Hmm yes, getting the respect right would the thing.
Oh yeah, Bunnings is a danger zone. Though maybe not the only one… Officeworks has its risks too ?
Adult themes doesn’t seem to be something that has really come up too much in the projects on this site. Perhaps a NSFW warning would be advisable. I know some of my KD stuff would be a little concerning for some.
February 11, 2019 at 12:53 pm #1347165My hobby progress from today:
They need squad and Chapter markings, but that’ll wait until I finish the next squad. Just basing otherwise. I’m going to try a little experiment on one of these guys for the basing, see how we go ?
February 11, 2019 at 1:09 pm #1347167@rayzryr Oh I’d bet that gungans would lead to more outcry. At least Ewoks don’t behave like bellends plus they put up a descent fight with sticks and stones! And there is even one in an X-Wing in the X-Wing novel series 😉
February 11, 2019 at 1:52 pm #1347190Talking of World of Darkness, I watched the new Underworld movie yesterday. Why in the hell isn’t that a wargame?
Werewolves Vs Vampires sells itself.
February 11, 2019 at 2:35 pm #1347228That’s even less meat on that bone then on the Harry Potter IP. Two factions and that’s it. XD
February 11, 2019 at 5:31 pm #1347293@sundancer there are more than 2 factions just in the vampires. And various types of heroes, weapons, powers etc. I’m sure people said the same about The Walking Dead and that goes from strength to strength.
How many factions in SWL again haha?
February 11, 2019 at 7:38 pm #1347327February 11, 2019 at 8:03 pm #1347381This is what my SW:L collection looks like right now
February 11, 2019 at 8:58 pm #1347387@rayzryr I’m not too familiar with all the minutiae of Werewolf but I’m pretty good with the fluff. I think that there probably was quite a bit that could have been done with Oz in writing. I can say that the WW writing team weren’t well versed in the world. I remember there was a portion of the Clan novels (Brujah I think) where there was mention of a particular location having vampire forces capable of being mobilized. What the author obviously didn’t know was that was an active military installation. In their defense there are plenty of places in the American south that are named with Fort “…. “ for historical reasons and aren’t.
I can say that the fluff did spread far and wide though I am sketchy because of the breadth of writing. With regard to Wraith I am at a complete loss. I know of there being some sort of spirit war after the Spirit Bomb was detonated by the Technocracy, in effect to kill Ravnos and 2 (3?) of its progeny, which tore a whole in then fabric of reality. Something that The Great Down Under might’ve really gotten some mileage out of might have been the Cult of Ecstasy having a community that was damn near impossible to pin down on an eternal walkabout in the Dreamtime. It also could have been well presented to have more Changelings there with the same attention that was given to the Cherokee nunnehi or the Hawaiian menehune in one of the supplemental books.
Good work on the Templars. Putting in those highlights inside the pauldrons breaks the visual space nicely.
@sundancer Gungans actually were halfway decent in the Clone Wars series with the notable exception of the secret Sith general. Jar-jar probably will be revealed as a badass
@woldenspoons The IP from WoD would have eaten that alive (or dead?) as it treads on the territory of the RPG. Look at GW as a fine example of protecting one’s business. I do, however, agree that the idea would work in as far as using the fluff for factions.
The only problem is that werewolves in the WoD are walking, (somewhat) talking, fur covered murder rugs. It’d be broken before it started. Rping the idea I could definitely take some of the vampire clans and really make things horrendous for the game.
Camarilla :
Toreador – have them become high speed murder machines.
Malkavian – make the enemy literally claw their own heads apart to try and free their minds.
Brujah – Soak up damage and draw the power of the earth for their strength to beat wolves at their own game
Sabbat:
Tzimisce – Fleshcraft some war golems, warp the bodies of your foes or transform into an unliving nightmare. It’s all fun
Lasombra – In a war within the shadows use the world around you to fight or choke the life from the beasts from within where there is eternal darkness
Ok.. unburrowing myself from this rabbithole. I already watched the newest rehash of Watership Down and I think that it is good for presentation. The animated version definitely snuck by some parents as a cartoon to leave deep impressions on kids. There should be more things like this to knock people into thinking/feeling that don’t get bulldozed aside.
February 12, 2019 at 8:42 am #1347482Okay, got home way too late yesterday morning and didn’t get to bed just after four. Yesterday I worked on one model and played South Park on the Switch all day. It was highly unproductive. Here are some meme submissions
And this is the Transformer I’m excited about which I mentioned a few times:
Before the Steel Panther gig I also picked up these (I would have spent more but I am on a savings budget):
