Good afternoon and may I say welcome back ?
Yes. This is the right place for geeking out about this glorious hobby and stuff.
(and posting this unlocked the 500 posts achievement award … I guess I officially have no life ) 😉
July 12, 2019 at 6:57 pm #1413996Of course you have a life…you are here! Unless you are implying I have no life? Right now I should have been on my way to sunny Glasgow, but some of the Scottish trains have been changed so I decided to stay at home. Unless you travel on Scottish trains you have no idea of just how abstract their idea of a timetable is. It’s a good job they didn’t work for the Nazi’s.
What are the population doing this evening? Getting pissed-up and standing in a club that sounds like four different car alarms going off at once. If that is “having a life” then i’ll stay sad and boring.
Some news from UJ towers: Eve is engaged and is getting married in May 2021 and we have two new additions to the family. Oh yes, I have two grand-puggies that I get to look after when Eve and Ernie’s shifts are different. I know what you are thinking. When Eve first told me I said, “…not a chance!”
Mollie & Lola.

July 13, 2019 at 12:58 pm #1414216July 13, 2019 at 6:15 pm #1414300@tuffyears both look great. Although the one on the left looks a bit more realistic and not as cartoon-ish as the contrast painted variant.
How did you like using the contrast paints ?//
Facebook proving that the world is full of *eh* the mentally challenged :

(670k people claiming to be going to storm Area 51 … LOL )
July 13, 2019 at 6:24 pm #1414304i’m loving contrast paints , how it makes it so much easier to knock out a good painted squad in a afternoon
July 13, 2019 at 7:49 pm #1414332I too love them. I kind of scared that there are certain things like flesh that I may never paint another way again.
July 13, 2019 at 8:53 pm #1414356July 13, 2019 at 9:23 pm #1414360@tuffyears how much of this would been with ‘traditional’ painting methods for you in a single afternoon ?
The contrast paints really make those cloaks look great.
Did you give them the same hair colour on purpose ?
July 13, 2019 at 9:37 pm #1414362the black, white and blue are all standard paint, the rest is contrast. they have all the same hair because i only have the one shade of brown in contrast
July 13, 2019 at 10:16 pm #1414365July 13, 2019 at 11:43 pm #1414399@robert – I noticed your Germans as I was browing about. Very impressive. I have been basing some 15mm Russians and base-coating a ISU-152. Not tried painting the infantry yet! Building up the courage.
Lola and Mollie are Eve’s, but I get to look after them at least once a week. They get to have a Pug-over. Lola is just recovering from a corneal graft and Mollie goes proper ‘happy mondays’ if she sees a horse when you play Red Dead 2. Mollie was sort of a rescue/rehoming addition to the family and had never seen a cat when she came to us last may. We have 6 cats…
Tomorrow I will be all alone for the day. Maybe I will get my garage unit finished.
July 14, 2019 at 9:56 pm #1414631Hi guys,
Just wanted to drop in briefly to reassure everyone that I’m around, but sadly my recovery has not been going well and subsequently my hobby has suffered. Good news though I saw the consultant who did the original surgery on Friday and they got me downstairs for an ASAP MRI scan that confirmed their suspicions: at some point part of the internal repair work on my spine failed so there’s a fluid leak that is pushing the nerves out, causing them ot act rather like a valve. Hence shooting electric-like pains in my lower back and both legs. I’m due to go back down to London tomorrow to be admitted for an emergency surgery slot on Tuesday. They fully expect after that I should be effectively pain-free, so fingers crossed 🙂
Now I did get one bit of hobby done this weekend; somewhat ironically most of my family were done in London this weekend and they didn’t want me left on my own in case of a bad attack and I needed help, so I stayed with my Grandfather for a few days. Whilst he was doing his own thing I had brought along my copy of Blackstone Fortress to try out as I hadn’t played it before and was curious about the single player. Man that was a lot of fun. I managed to get through the mini Expedition for Tad and pious from White Dwarf to get their special item, then two further expeditions with all bar the Ratling Twins. results were mixed, and whilst enough Archaeotech to buy sweet loot was lacking I did manage to score all the items for certain characters who needed them for their Secret Agendas, and whole load of Clues. I’ve got the two expansions (and extra card packs) to mix in next time I play, but at the moment I’m thinking trying two more expeditions before even considering a Fortress Assault, but might see if some friends fancy giving it a go as well….
Anyway, that’s it for me. Hopefully I’ll touch base by next weekend.
Laters 🙂
