    Painting progress – all 152 regular infantry for the Middenheim army have now been painted and given an AP varnish. If I plan things right could have them all based and matt coated by the end of the weekend. Have 3 banners and 6 character models to paint for the project still, plus 2 warmachines and  30 cavalry, but have put a solid dent in the pile of shame, plus am close to having a new army to mess around with 🙂

    Struggling to keep up with the posts at the moment… 🙂

    @robert the Orcs v Goblins analogy made me laugh. and reminded me of this:

    VJWIM

    @sundancer excellent! All caught up just in time for the new release wave! X-/ Seriously though, those veterans do look good 🙂

    @dawfydd you are consistently knocking it out of the park with your conversions! Really inspiring stuff.

    @horati0nosebl0wer you’re pretty much saving me from having to post 90’s tunes as what I listened to you have pretty much covered off on 🙂

    @woldenspoons good news! And classic comics too! Hope you find some good reads in the loot pile.

    @mage don’t stress and enjoy the painting time 🙂 Further to the earlier, dieselpunk is a sub-genre of steampunk, where instead of things being set in the Victorian era and everything steam powered you jump forward a few decades (to the 1930’s/40’s I think?…) and everything has a grimier diesel powered internal combustion engine aesthetic. That’s what your in progress Minotaurs reminded me of anyhow. it’s a good thing 🙂

    @limburger woohoo! Shiny new project! Great idea to theme it around too buy the way 🙂

    @rayzryr sounds like all the fun of being drunk without all the fun of being drunk! Seriously, that must be really frustrating. Hope you have been able to focus on something to pass the time at least and that you are back up to speed soon 🙂 Nice progress on the mins. Not familiar enough with the unit markings to be able to see where the decals have been misapplied, but as you suggest, everything can become a cool back-story in 40k 🙂 Heh, that opening Space Hulk theme used to sound so awesome…

    @evilstu actually we’re behind… With Jyn should have come Director Orson Krennic, with the Pathfinders should have come Imperial Death Troopers but those got pushed to Q2/2019 for some reason….

    I should mention that the mini I’m using for Lias Issodon is a stock Forge World Legion Vigilator – I was debating a different head but it just fits the tactical shenanigans of the Raptors.

    @sundancer I’ll admit that the release schedule doesn’t make a lot of sense to me but we are now hitting what I’d call a critical mass for unit choices, so I’m getting more tempted to look at this as a serious gaming system. Maybe once I clear out a bit more of the backlog… 😉

    @evilstu better hurry up cleaning then 😉 Next up are the tank, the speeder, that “terrain piece” and after that we get Rebel Veterans and Tauntaun Riders (And I’m still very keen on what the imperial version of those will be… Dewbacks maybe?)

    @sundancer well done on the Legion models, they look good.  I love Final Liberation as a game but it had some serious bugs.  I’m very tempted to buy it again now!

    @woldenspoons Must read it.  Read The Hobbit a couple of times, and LotRs once when I was a teenager.  I guess because my sister didn’t have a copy, I missed out.

    @limburger Another project to follow.  Looking forward to seeing it, I think it is going to look awesome 🙂

    @rayzryr hope you are feeling better. Never played that version of Space Hulk.  I think D-Rok had one of Brian May’s nephews in the band, which is probably why they were signed ( I am a cynic).

    @mage as with @rayzrz, if you are getting dizzy regularly, get it checked out. I would get dizzy spells which is probably down to having low blood pressure and a slowish heart rate.

    @evilstu the Middenheim is looking good.  Crazy number of troops!  I batch paint in 3s or 5s…

    Music

    Dark Tranquillity – Therein.  One of my favourite tracks from 1999.

    Squad number on the Consecrators, now these guys are “done”. I’m planning on printing my own sheet of transfers, but it’ll have to be an A4 page’s worth. So I’ll do a batch of all the Unforgiven.

    I’ve also started in on the Elf project again.

    Im going for a “quick win” here: these guys were already primed, I’m I’m doing them very basically.

    @horati0nosebl0wer well… no blonde ear hairs for me. Dr said “Do these exercises” drink plenty of fluid. Didn’t even look down the ol’ ear hole ?

    Keep them ears clean!

    Your first track with the Wipeout 2097 thing happening reminded me of this track from the end of MDK.

    It was weird then, it’s weird now. But at least I finally found what the song is about ?

    @sundancer Final Liberation? Mmmm maybe not… ?

    @evilstu that looks like a serious dent out of the Grey Pile.

    Nah not as much as being drunk ? lol

    Hmm, better this evening, kept my mind off it by reentering the handwritten catalogue of my own Pile onto a spreadsheet…

    Cheers @robert thanks for the well-wishes ? I’m much better this evening… which means back to work tomorrow ? haha! Oh well.

    Family connections had nothing to do with, surely ? lol!

    Quite an interesting track too!

    @rayzyr a half day back, don’t want to succumb to it again…

    Damn bait and switch with work. I got transferred to a new site and it sounds fine well and wonderful actually getting near to regular people hours/weekends (what are those again?). Found out “Oh yeah, we’re going to 12s next week. We’re short on people”. FML, the painting might take longer than anticipated with the prep for moving.

    @evilstu glad to see that the music is hitting all fronts then. Good to see that the troops are coming along as they have. I think that I’ll probably skip on the large scale battle forces unless I’m reeeeaally involved with a system or want to build/paint/sell.

    @evilstu and @mage dieselpunk is good stuff. Look at Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow as well as The Rocketeer are good examples that you’ll see the aesthetic in. You’d be playing it with Crimson Skies and Bioshock. The mechanical and clean lines of Art Deco are there without the “romantic” flair of what might be organic in Art Noveau.

    Reading on the wiki for it the grimy/gritty aspect to it is about right when compared to atompunk/decopunk.

    @sundancer Dewbacks on a Hoth board or tauntons on Tatooine… yep broken narrative. Forget the whole clear base debate.

    @rayzryr Great job putting together the music from the videogames. MDK was not a game I played but I had been interested at the time. The video you found really put me into a “WTF?” headspace, as French visual media tends to, and made me wonder if that young lady might twist her neck to the point of injury.

    @evilstu : that middenheim army looks impressive.

    @robert : don’t expect any miracles or speed …  then again …  now I have to post something new every so often.
    @sundancer : yes … I caved. And you will too my friend (eventually). You will buy a new system, although you may have better anti impulse buy protection 😉

    @horati0nosebl0wer

    You just had to remind me of all the crappy music from the 90’s hadn’t you ? 😉
    Atomb bomb is cool though. It’s one of the few tracks of this infernal techno genre I kind of like.

    If you like Wipeout then I’d recommend Redout (for PC and probably consoles too).

    The late TotalBiscuit did a review :

    They even have a VR version … which once again proves that the tech is excellent for a highly specific type of game.

    More musical earworms from the 90’s :

    @limburger I wont! Not this year!

    Also, I build a 4th tray… and when the tank is out I’ll need a 5th…

    @rayzryr <40 points>

    I kinda feel that when I get up sometimes. I do have: clogged sinuses, an inner ear thing and have been doing weight lifting on my back yesterday. Hopefully it is happenstance than vertigo. No nausea or headaches for me.

    I see what you did there with the music.

    10 points for the elves

    15 points for the finished Dark Angels (not a lot but I believe I dolled out points throughout the WIP stages)

    15 points for feedback to others

    @horati0nosebl0wer <20 points>

    Ill give the music a listen to shortly. Bit of a marathon listening fest ahead of me!

    20 points for responses

    @sundancer <15 points>

    Easy now, getting a tad risque there with innuendo…

    10 points for feedback, 5 for Toto

    25 points for the family photo of the Star Wars collection.

    @evilstu <35 points>

    So over the last week you pumped out 152 Middnehimers and basecoated them to night completion (using the army painter method, as well as before basing and varnishing), is that correct? That is a lot of work! Just clarifying for points lol.

    10 points for the meme

    25 points for feedback to other posters.

    Oh Im not stressing. Kinda in a bad mood with a head cold type thing and a couple of people cancelling on me, and I am starting to find the grind tedious. Then again, I hit a wall with the metallics and then start detail work again and I get a second wind. Its weird. Pics to follow. Ill be going radio silent in an hour ish.

    Thanks for both the compliments and explanation of Dieselpunk. So, kinda like Cadillac’s and Dinosaurs?

    @dawfydd

    The Vigilator is a sweet model. Keep it as is!

    Man that is some dubious amount of pop music lol.
