Heh, missed replying to a whole page of posts – You’ve been busy Team 🙂

@woldenspoons Actually on reflection 90’s TV did have some bright points. How did the Pathfinder event go?

@rayzryr with project updates I’ve found creating an entry with just a title or block of text, and then editing later adding in more content incrementally reduces the timing out. Heh, GW stores could have pretty much had their own in-shop radio station in the 90’s. Never went into one that wasn’t playing metal 🙂

@tuffyears nice looking force. those Churchills are great, love the detailing and shading. Best of luck getting the gaming hall up and going 🙂

Back from the birthday party of my little nephew 🙂

Ice Cool is a really fun game for kids.

The game also has a sequel, which allows for an even bigger maze and/or more players.

I do wish they sold the super sized version I saw at a convention …

Gonna put some gunmetal down on my Minotaurs before bed and that basecoat will be all complete. Ish. Some wires to do on the Aggressors but that doesent count… Seriously I will ask you guys tomorrow for tips or what colours to use as I do not wanna overload them with metal colours or silver. It would detract from the gold, less can be more.

Also, Captain Marvel was surprisingly good.

Well, I took your advice @evilstu and did each post in small updates. It took longer, but it only crashed once… thanks for the tip though!

I’ve now made the project public, please feel free to check it out!

@sundancer Sweet deal on the rebels. With all the SW:L you have I wouldn’t be surprised to find that you’re building wall shelves for your finished pieces.

@evilstu Epic inspiring me to do smaller scale? Hell to the no! This has put me off that for the foreseeable future. I’ve been playing around with monster figures that are relative to the heroic scale (mostly stuff from Reaper Bones for cost/weight) and found it much more rewarding to actually be able to see the details on the mini as opposed to going blind getting it on. Looking at the work done for Epic as painted for 28mm scale detail I was blown away and definitely set in the thinking that I am not going to any more after this. I did find that my friend had a couple ork Stompas in there and broke away for a two figures which helped my sanity.

As far as color I stayed with solid primary colors. From Reaper I used Cyan blue as well as Sunlight yellow. Out of the Vallejo range I used the Model color Carmine Red. I’ve got the Vallejo Air line as well and have been hitting things here and there with them. It all boils down to the basecoat and where I work from there. Speaking of that, I just looked at the Vallejo site and they apparently now do rattlecans through Squadron. This probably doesn’t do anything for Europe and Australia but I think they also have other distribution that could be looked up for you lot out there.

@blinky465 Good to see the gift you got out of that. When avernos put that together I think he missed me and I just threw caution to the wind on it. The unboxing video was the outcome.

I really have been impressed with the quality of RN Estudio’s sculpts. I remember when they first put up their crowdfunding and thought they were awesome. At the moment I am quite sad as they have great looking stuff and my wallet is anorexic.

If I had any wall space left that could happen… “if I had” …

@evilstu 18 months. He’s pretty enamoured with the pre-painted 4e D&D minis that I have sitting around from back then so I like to think he’s on the right track but I’m not kind enough to have him start trying to eat the AM infantry I have been working on.

Speaking of which: I did get some time to finish of my infantry, nearly. Just a Lieutenant and then adding any accessories I fancy to the line infantry and then it’s on the the armour/vehicles.

@blinky465 nice score! And that He-man mini does look great. Glad they had the forethought to make the optional parts optional.

@limburger awesome 🙂 Hope a great time was had by all, but more specifically, by your nephew 🙂

@mage good news, we’ll probably head ian and see Captain Marvel sone night this week if we can find a night where we oth finish work at a reasonable time…

@rayzryr good to hear – I find it really disheartening to rework a complete project update. Will check out the project shortly.

@horati0nosebl0wer I do love the larger Reaper Bones minis – super-cheap way to get giants. Their Bones 4 Kickstarter is about to drop so there should be plenty more on their website soon.

@sundancer all my wall space is hidden behind bookshelves…

Got plenty more done today. Middenheim infantry finished up to the varnish stage, and got varnish brushed on to about 100 of them. 50 more to go but will leave that for later. Then need to do the characters and then switch over to the 30 Knights of the White Wolf.

@evilstu – I’ve put some paint on it now, so it’s stopped looking quite so great 😉

@kiranamida plenty of time yet then 🙂 Although by the sounds of things he’s already on the right path…

@blinky465 heh 🙂 have fun with it 🙂

@mage bit of hail and sleet up here.  Proper spring showers, one minute it is sunny, the next you see Noah floating down the street in his ark 🙂

@woldenspoons GW also did plastic models with metal arms… which for Devastators was a complete nightmare unless you pinned them with a very big pin!

@rayzryr Yes, it would.  I would say Sabbat (first two albums, anyway) and Bolt Thrower were good, but maybe not D-Rok.  I can’t think of anymore bands they promoted.  Project Blog looks good!

@tuffyears nice tanks!  The Tank game is actually quite fun.  Very X-Wing but enjoyable nonetheless.  Good luck with the gaming hall, dude.

@evilstu Scotland V Wales wasn’t bad.  Scotland could have won, but Wales should have scored more in the 1st half.  Didn’t watch the Italy game as I knew England would smash them.  It was like Orcs v Goblins, the English team is massive but rather stupid, the Italians are sneaky but were just overpowered.  Ireland did well yesterday but the French didn’t look very motivated.

@blinky465 That He-Man model looks amazing, lovely deep detail which will make it a joy to paint.  Don’t remember that Ninja Orge, very cool.

@limburger Ice Cool looks awesome, like a fun version of Subbuteo!

    Music

1998. Blind Guardian – Mirror Mirror.  You should get bonus points if you can work out how this is related to toy soldiers and playing games.

1999. The Lord Weird Slough Feg – Highlander. Heavy Metal with a weird celtic/folk influence.  Pretty unique for the time, I would say.  Their albums are worth a listen.

@robert re: Blind Guardian It couldn’t have to do anything with the fact, that the album that track was on is called “Nightfall on Middle Earth” and is set in the world of the Silmarillion 😉

@sundancer absolutely correct!  Though I have never read the Salmarillion, so I have no idea what they are singing about.  I just like the tunes!

Got my Lias Issodon proxy built, and he went together surprisingly easily. I was going to add some purity seals to make it look a little less heresy-era, but figured a Chapter Master who specializes in the sneaky-boom-boom style of warfare wouldn’t want bits of vellum hanging off his armour 😀

I do plan on ordering a load of Raptors chapter symbols off Shapeways – a batch of 60 is under £20 so that would see for Shadow Spear and a good chunk more easily enough. I’d need to trim any symbol for this chap down though as his cloak rests over a portion of the left shoulder pad it would need to go on….

@dawfydd I’ve enjoyed the clean lines of the armor for GW plastics. The only thing is the price for the sheer amount. Its gotten a bit better with the specialist games that have made the models on par with other lower run operations. I really wish I had more time in my place in order to just pick up more figures and paint all day.

As far as Shapeways goes with all the individual chapters it was browsing Popgoesthemonkey that got me on those Star Spectres. The skull hourglass caught my eye first and then the rest followed. The other chapters…. I’m iffy on
