    @a27cromwell you’d be surprised. I could probably fit the whole lot into one of KR Multicases doubles sizes bags. Drop Pods would be the killer as they can take up a fair bit of space, but at worst they go into a foam-lined box of some sort.

    @mage yeah I probably should have experimented first. On the other hand I do find experimentation on the fly can be quite rewarding.

    Speaking of I got this months Supply and Heroines boxes from Asset Drop. First time doing one of these gaming-orientated  curated boxes but I’m quite impressed. I’ll try and take some snaps when I get home but there’s a set of reds that look pretty spiffs, a set for of greys with a sponge brush and tutorial for painting concrete slabs, and two weathering paints – one rust and one dust that sound most intriguing. The Heroines is quite a nice selection as well – a 55mm MAS scenic base, two minis from The Drowned Earth that would work for a diorama, and a few more paints in the form of some interesting looking metallics and a wash.

    I think I’ll be staying on the Supply subscription for the variety, but may dip in & out of the Heroines ones depending on what is coming each month. Should be a fun way to try some alternate projects though and play with new techniques

    oh, and I may also have the geeky double of the new Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex Blu-ray set and a box box of Gundams showing up. Fun times ?

    @biggabum – the benefit of the Spartan games is that their background was generally  skin deep so it’s easy enough to peel it away and put something else in place.

    Ill check out that  stuff – cheers

    Beautiful sunny bank holiday here today so I spent the morning cutting grass and the afternoon down the seafront with the wife – I’m calling this project research though ?

    Ok so I am going to start on page 4 and work my way backward. Absent today with binge watching anime after my time with my son ended after lunch time. Doing housework and hobby as well. Ill post up pics when I can of what I have been doing.

    Here goes!

    5 points, oddly enough I do find experimenting with technique on the fly too to also be quite satisfying. Odd huh?

    What is Asset Drop? Gaming for hobby nerds or video gamers? Ah, I type as I read. Supplies for painting. Interesting stuff. 5 points.

    GITSAC is a classic. Tell me more about the Gundams. 5 points.

    @avien (5 points)

    Sounds interesting with Spartan.

    Project research for… what? Haha. 5 points.

    It will be interesting to see the Dark Angels and Grey Knight in person. I just primed a bunch of my own Dark Angels.

    Better late than never.

    How was work through the weekend?

    What kind of dice mechanic is it? D6? D20? A cards, that’s me again being a trained touch typist reading a reply, and typing at the same time. Ne’er mind.

    (1) 10 points, its always good having a game where someone else needs to know all the rules haha. The starter is brilliant to be fair. Every gamer should have a copy under their bed for a blackout/eclipse/snowstorm/sandstorm/apocalypse as something to do when the electricity goes down.
    (2) 5 points, fair enough.
    (3) 10 points, a very good choice at that. Horror supsense vs horror action with Alie(s). Home Alone 2 is good, 10 points.
    (4) Valid points, 10 points. A lot of people have said it to me with my own research that in jokes frustrate them. I guess it makes it harder to relate to?
    (5) Black pudding and chicken in an omellete with two kinds of cheese? 15 points.

    @biggabum (10 points)

    10 points for giving feedback. Poo day? We are all here to listen.

    @avien (30 points)

    I mean to see it again too. I looooooooooved it. The pacing is just right.

    How did the homewaring go?

    You based in Ireland too?

    Sounds like an interesting thing planned for the cliffs. Post progress pics of the buildings and bunkers sure.

    25 points for feedback to others and 5 for posting that link for me.

    5 points for sharing your painting recipe for the tanks.

    I think that is everything for me all caught up with. I might end this thread…. Wednesday evening. Ill keep checking back and probably post pics of my own stuff tomorrow once more substantial work is complete and it looks more presentable.

    @mage ,

    Yeah, Jon did a really interesting set of unboxings on their November box and I’ve been umming & ahhing over whether to give it a go, so this month took a punt. Gotta say I’m impressed so far.

    And just went in to manage my account and they have a referal scheme. Anyone fancy giving it a go then here’s £1.50 off 🙂

    Well this is my box’o’Gunpla:

    2018-06-04 21.09.122018-06-04 21.09.03

    Bit of a mixed assortment as I’ve been adding them to my HLJ warehouse account for the last few months, so there is a VERY orange gunner from the latest Gundam Build tv series, 2 suits from Gundam Wing – the generic Leo and the bombastic Tallgeese (in stunning RG format), from Gundam Seed Destiny the Akatsuki in all it’s gold-platedness, and finally a pair of RX-79(G) Gundam Ground Types, the generic “infantry” version of the classic suit, one of which also comes with the support APC’s as depicted in the classic 08th MS Team (seriously  check it out, it plays the wholething dead straight and really plays up the support even one of these suits would need on campaign). These are all 1/144 scale which has rapidly become my preferred scale for Gundam kits to be honest. These’ll be a good de-stress project further down the line 😉

    Yeah, GITS is some prime cyber action. I generally prefer Appleseed, but the execution of GITS, and especially the SAC series is just superb. It’s great to have the wholeseries on blu-ray in one package as well. I think the only shows I’m waiting for now for this treatment is Cowboy Bebop (but a 20th anniversary release is in the works,  including the soundtracks!) and Neon Genesis Evangelion….

    10 points. Why is it called GUNPLA?

    HLJ? RG? There are so many terms there I am not familiar with.

    I saw maybe two different versions of Appleseed, I like both. How did you find the live action GITS? I liked it a lot, to be honest. Some good animes you list right there.

    @a27cromwell Cheers. That liquid greenstuff on the T34 is very effective. I take it you watered it down a bit so as not to obscure detail? Anyway it’s something i’m going to keep in mind for the future.

    @avien I did look for the Monsterpocalypse stuff but Matty has been at his nans all day and apparently the box is in his room…. I would have nipped in and got it but seriously, I’m not that brave. We had a gas fitter round to deal with a problem with a radiator in there over Christmas… We saw him go in… but nobody saw him come out…. we figure the underpants got him.

    @mage thanks mate, but i’ve always figured that when the poo days happen things can only get better. As Dire Straits say “Why Worry”

    Today started off a bit naff but this evening has been ok so got a bit more done on the Gribblies

    biggabum ,  I just painted it  on with a cheap brush , then stippled it with a very stiff short bristled brush . You can really control where you add it . For example , the machine gun bump and armored cover , as well as the exhaust covers were cast on the T-34 ( among other things ), it’s  very easy to paint it on these small items  and thenJS 2 d stipple the amount of texture you want . When dry if it looks to rough or maybe , too smooth you can go back and touch it up . The problem I find  is the consistency  of the liquid green stuff . Some is the texture of paint , other bottles , you can scoop it out like pudding , I wonder how much of a shelf life it has from manufacture to not usable ? I also wonder how long ago the stuff  left the factory in the UK , before I buy it here , a month ago , a year ago ? The last couple of bottles I got didn’t last a week after opening . Any one know of a way to get lumpy  liquid green stuff back to a smooth , usable consistency ? The Italeri JS 2 has thin plastic strip added to the rear mg mount , then textured with LGS for a rough cast effect

    @a27cromwell – if the liquid greenstuff has become more difficult to work I found a tip that suggested adding small amounts of water and shaking vigorously. You do need to be careful of how much you add but it made a pot I brought last another  year before it fully hardened, and if I’d taken better care probably even longer.

    @mage Gunpla is the shorthand for Gundam Plastic Kits,  and the most common term for the hobby. RG and HG stand for Real Grade and High Grade respectively. RG is the premium 1/144 scale kits, featuring articulated skeletons on which the mech is built and offering a finer finish without the need for paint, labels or lining with markers. HG is what I call the baseline kits, and offer a good compromise of complexity vs ease of build, but still leave you with a very attractive figure. Once built they are comparable to a deluxe-class Transformer in size. I’ll see if I can’t get some comparison pics taken a somepoint (maybe tomorrow as I have an early finish due to physio).

    HLJ is HobbyLinkJapan, my preferred retailer of Japanese goodies. They are a Japanese based company so they ship everything over to you. Being able to stack items up for a couple of months and then ship in one go makes one hell of a saving 😉 They have do most nerdy stuffyou can think of, including a lot of historical military kits and have carried the Space marine Heroes kits in the past as well. Not the  only player but one I trust.

    And you asked about my Wolf Pack. Well I’ve been working on  these for most of the  last year now, slowly but surely, and have put up pics in previous Weekender threads on the old site, but as that’s been archived here are some up-close shots:

    2017-09-16 17.11.562017-09-16 17.10.262017-09-16 17.12.162017-09-16 17.12.442017-09-16 17.13.302017-09-16 17.13.472017-12-10 16.59.142018-02-03 12.44.022018-02-03 12.45.362018-02-03 12.46.14

    It was nice to finally  put paint to those wolf Scouts, given I’d built them back when the 5th edition Codex came out >_< (I think that’d been the best thing this year – using 8th and what I’ve learnt painting non-GW stuff over the last few years to really crack on and get some of these projects that have literally been sitting around gathering dust completed).

    Oh, and @biggabum ? I recommend full tactical cleansing of the site by low-yield nuke from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure 😀

    @mage – yeah I’m based in Ireland.

    Those Chaos Knights are looking good

    @dawfydd – are those glorious moustaches included in the space wolves kit or are they third party parts?

    got a couple of test fittings done – pics aren’t great, but the first one is going for a landing platform with an entrance tunnel into the side of the cliff

    I’ve found a load of bases – I think they came from Mantic – with a load of circles perfect for 10mm windows. Plan is to slot them into strategic spots around the foam. Not a great pic but here’s the general idea.

    I’ve found some awesome bunker entrances on 4Grounds site. £5.50 for 2. Debating grabbing a few or trying to build something similar.

    @avien actually they are all from the Chaos Marauder Horsemen kit. One kit gets you a bounty of luxurious ‘staches ?
