1. Never have played D&D , just not that interested in that type of fantasy stuff . I’m more a WW2 game player / model builder
2. Podcast , is that like a video blog , you tube channel thing ? I’m not really up on all this computer stuff , like I don’t face book , twitter or what ever else is all the rage . There are a couple of you tube channels I do watch quite regular , The Chieftain from WoT , one from the Tank Museum and this guy out of Norway ( ? ) who makes the most awesome metal covers of all sorts of songs in his home studio .
3. Best sequel would have to be Aliens
4. Shows that take for ever to get to the point or change direction and go way out in left field and talk about stuff no way related to the main topic . Although these types of shows can be awesome as seen by some ( ok most ) episodes of Backstage
5. Don’t eat eggs , so no omelettes
And I’m hoping to finish of my garden gnomes that I’ve painted for my daughters
June 2, 2018 at 6:09 pm #1198798@avien I hear you mate, my wife’s not too fond of 2.0 either…. maybe something to do with me accessing it from her laptop the other day and making it her homepage….. 😀
Have you thought of using Dowels or even magnets to keep the tops on, and then when you need the flat bit to stand troops on the tops lift off.
Anyhoo progress has been made on the Hex Beasts with no small thanks to Peppa Pig and a Claymation Baby Hulk thing.
June 2, 2018 at 6:32 pm #11988271) Surprisingly no. It’s just never been a thing I’ve gotten around to playing. I’ve played the Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights and Planescape games though, do those count?
2) Shut Up & Sit Down is a semi-regular look at what’s happening in boardgames with a pleasingly dry wit.
3) How To Train Your Dragon 2 – the first was an utter delight, but the second just hits you in the feels (and the trailer for film three hits next week 😀 )
4) I can forgive a lot of technical and production issues, but general douchbaggery, and especially snobbery can really turn me off a podcast or video (there is a GOT quote from Brom that fits but I figure it might lower the tone 😉 )….
5) Classic ham & cheese, but a handy hack I learnt at university? When seasoning the egg mix dried mint in place of salt & pepper works surprisingly well… Also, hot sauce of some sort (even a bbq sauce will do)
As for hobby? Well I got Ragnar and the Relic Contemptor to a place I am happy with today. I know there is more I could do but I like where these are at as it stands:
And got this big boy built for the Crimson Fists…
June 2, 2018 at 7:59 pm #1198997Fyreslayers are cleaned and built, now off for a soapy water bath.
@mage done a few threads on Weekenders in the past but had to stop due to work. Now have some of my weekend time back so trying to be a little more active online and to do some hobby too.
Going with the Fyreslayers. Going to use some inspiration from the art and from some of the great paint jobs a few people out there have done. So using the colours of fire.
I think Warren is a good host injecting excitement and enthusiasm in the right amounts. I think Chris Evans in the Top Gear reboot had it all wrong.
@avien, some serious plucking going on there buddy
@a27cromwell, those are some nice looking gnomes buddy.
@biggabum, those hex beasts models look good, what coulour palette are you thinking?
@dawfydd, strong work buddy, that’s a lot in a single day.
June 2, 2018 at 8:46 pm #1199095@gaz Errrrm not sure. In all honesty mate, i’m more of a player of games rather than a proper hobbyist, so painting isn’t my forte (Although, wierdly, all my mini’s are painted to some sort of standard, and I dont have a lead/plastic mountain at all… Go figure). I guess, due to RJ1027 being red, I shall paint all the pustules/boils/sores reddish with a purple wash and bring them up to yellow with a tinge of green, maybe, to make them look a bit septic. Skinwise I’m thinking a purple tinted flesh and the cloth will do a mixture of Leathers and Denims to match the clothing on our other WWX minis.
The Fyreslayers are definately cool Mini’s, I’m looking forward to seeing where you go with them.
@dawfydd What can I say mate other than Wow. Both Ragnar and the Contemptor look amazing.
June 2, 2018 at 11:08 pm #1199294@biggabum – I have a test magnet in place, mostly was thinking about having building parts that can be snapped in place to have a city in the mountains.
those hexbeasts look awesome, I may have to pick up some WWX as a painting project.
@dawfydd – I loved Neverwinter Nights, fantastic game! I still have it installed and boot it up when I’m feeling nostalgic!
Nice work on the Dread and Ragner – they’re looking great
@Gaz – yeah so much plucking I gave myself some serious foam burn on my fore finger and thumb? – I didn’t know that was a thing to be aware of for this sorta work.
Fireslayers are awesome to paint, tons of character. I’m really enjoying Shadespire for the variety of models. Nice being able to just paint 5 guys and be done.
June 2, 2018 at 11:25 pm #1199306Hey guys, busy with my son and later a date. Bed now with an early start. Points and responses tomorrow. Keep the good stuff coming!
June 3, 2018 at 12:01 am #1199331@avien sounds like a plan. I think the City in the mountains is a great idea, it would look fantastic.
The thing with WWX Mini’s is that your spoiled for choice. Aliens, Werebeasts, Mexicans, Conquistadors, Holy Zealots, Mutations, Native Americans, the WXX version of the Magnificent Seven (the newer movie) and the WXX version of the Crew of the Firefly (called the Wayward Eight)…. Oh and there are a few general Cowboys too 😀 Plus you have a few Vehicles like Bikes, Buggies and huge trucks (that are the equivalent of tanks in other games).
If I was you I wouldnt wait too long if you only want a few mini’s to paint though, as Warcradle are pulling most of the Single Mini’s and releasing them in boxed sets or as resculpts (although the resculpts are as good as the originals so far).
Ive included a link to the Warcradle site for you so you can have a look when your ready:
@mage good luck with your date Sir. Have a great night!
June 3, 2018 at 8:09 am #1199589Hope the date went ok @mage 😉
@biggabum , @avien , @gaz thanks guys. I was really worried the primer had gone on too thick on the Contemptor, but once washed it came p really nice 🙂
Thought I’d just throw this up to show how my Wolves are currently progressing:
Given I have 1 day a week in which I can paint, and I’ve been fitting in other projects as well, I’m fairly happy with how this is progressing. And as it stands that still leaves me with the following to complete for this force:
- Rune Priest
- Wolf Guard Battle Leader
- Lone Wolf
- Wolf Guard Standard Bearer
- Iron Priest
- 10 Wolf Guard Terminators
- 10 Wolf Guard
- 22 Grey Hunters
- 10 Blood Claws
- 11 long Fangs
- 12 Fenrisian Wolves
- 5 Drop Pods
June 3, 2018 at 8:31 am #1199626@dawfydd So theres me looking at the Pic and thinking to myself thats a nice sized force…. then I scrolled down and saw what you had left to do 😀
You’ve made fantastic progress with it, considering the Arm, and managed toi keep the quality of the paint work at a high standard throughout, many Kudo’s to you Sir. Me, I have a tendancy to rush things when I get to the end of a project, and the last few miniatures/units tend to suffer. Matty, bless him, suggested painting the last miniatures first and that would solve the problem….
Just curious, but how many points would that full force come in at?
June 3, 2018 at 9:30 am #1199726Good morning weekend warriors! Right, time to start going back through the thread, have such a nice amount of content to go through 🙂

5 points. That’s interesting. Is it inevitable the substance will corrupt a person or not? Or is some of it made in a moonshine type fashion? Or does it give off a radiation? Sounds interesting, both from a background and game mechanics point of view. Pictures or no listen?
@avien (10 points)
5 points. I get you, you’d prefer if they were more chill, humble and less self righteous. Onions? Bleh! Spring onions are ok.
5 points for feedback to others.
Any chance of posting a link to the video on sponge rocks, my search fu is weak
June 3, 2018 at 9:54 am #1199776@a27cromwell (60 points)
1. To each their own. 10 points. Do you branch outside the WW2 stuff much?
2. Think a youtube channel chat with no video and just sound. It’s a hipster way of saying radio on the internet, I guess. 10 points, those channels sound interesting, maybe post a link or two for us to have a gander at.
3. 10 points.
4. 10 points, I see BoW is an exception to the rule then J
5. 5 points. Dietary or taste thing?
Interesting pledge. 15 points.
@biggabum (15 points)
You do a good job of throwing rocks at the old wasps hive when it comes to the wife, eh? Hex beasts look good. 15 points. . My son is sorta going off peppa pig but after a busy active day yesterday with lots of visiting Hotel Translyvania 2 seemed to calm him and keep him sat down and quiet.
June 3, 2018 at 12:01 pm #1199893@dawfydd (90 points)
1) 10 points, they count.
2) Tell us more about it.
3) 15 points. I need to go back and watch those movies.
4) PM me the line and I will award points based on it, haha.
5) 15 points, the mint thing sounds mind blowing.
Are you doing much more with them? They look sweet. 20 for Ragnar and 30 for the contemptor. Im that impressed and I think they look that good. Everyone else needs to up their game here. Leviathan is posed in a suitably menacing fashion.
@gaz (35 points)
10 points. Get some paint on them! J Can’t wait.
15 points for the info you gave with with schemes, returning and hosting.
10 points for giving others feedback.
@biggabum (10 points)
10 points for your response to people. It really helps the thread move along, thank you.
@avien (10 points)
10 points for responses to people as well.
