@sundancer I’m just stoked the Primaris characters are coming up – went on the Forbidden Planet website and put a pre-order in for 2 each of the Chaplain & Apohthecary issues, even with postage they still work out cheaper than buying the minis from any retailer, let alone GW ?

@dawfydd If you’re playing 40k it’s definitely a way to save some money. The gravtank is a saving too…. but I don’t play or collect 40k… I just want the terrain and take the paints and brushes as freebees. (And with the paints… I’m still curious if those will arrive intact XD)

@sundancer : At least you’ve got someone watching over you so you need to explain every transgression.
I am trying to limit my hobby & kickstarter spending to the bare minimum, but *aaarrrg* resistance is futile.

On the plus side … if I do find a house then I get to dedicate each room to my hobby so *eh* yay for me! 😉
(ok … I’m not *that* crazy, but it’ll be close *grin* ) Now if only those flocking houses didn’t have the insane pricing.

Speaking of which … I got a unit of grots on squigs to build and paint, because I found a GW store by accident … *eh* yeah, by accident. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Anyways … the gitz on spiders are a GW web-only item at the moment.
I hope this means a new set is incoming, but it most likely is a temporary supply issue due to the floggin’ chaos dudes clogging up the production line.

Most likely a temporary supply issue @limburger . I still have some left over from a Skull Pass set

@sundancer The paints should arrive fine. It might be the postal service but it still isn’t a Hadron Collider haha.

@sundancer I was going to make a glib reply to that, but I won’t haha. Trust me. I go too far with these things. Luckily typing on here my filter catches it.

@dawfydd Of course, Forbidden Planet. I did mildly wonder how to get extra copies.

@mage those plague marines work but they shouldn’t. Defintely need nurgled up, though.   Good work on the other stuff.

@rayzryr what is your recipe for the green on your Dark Angels?  Do you mind sharing?

@sundancer “The lady doth protest too much” comes to mind when you say you won’t start a new system.  But I agree about coffee… though it is actually a poison,  coffee beans evolved to contain caffeine as it killed the bugs that tried to eat them or so i was told.  I’m just glad I am not a bug!

@robert Thanks! Ill kind of paint them to a normal level for me and then come back for some weathernig and corrosion 🙂 Points pending for music, not in a position to listen to anything at the moment.

Im going to clock off for the night soon. Unless I go home, get a second wind and decide to paint and will show progress pics.

    @mage : yeah, I thought as much.
I’ll probably stick to the squig hoppers (or their veteran equivalent) for now and add the spider variants as and when they are available.

Got enough to do with the stuff I got anyways and it looks like I’m 1 battleline short of the required 3.

My Death Guard Codex and Data Cards arrived too! Woop! And a speeding ticket. And Heroquest arrived a couple of days ago. Mixed week…

@mage The yellow progression I would go after is maybe a light brown and work it into the yellow. Considering its Nurgle I’d say something along the lines of a WWII Japanese uniform green would impart that putrid tone that the forces are known for. The use of the brown pigments is a simulation of rust you can also see it on decaying flesh. It looks good spotted like mold growing on materials.

The rubbing alcohol was introduced to me as a medium to use on minis when I first tried an airbrush. The owner of a FLGS had his kit in and showed me what he did to get a quick coat using GW paints. The idea was to thin the paint and have it evaporate as thin as possible then leave the pigments behind. It works for pigments because all you do is get a cotton swab and soak it before rolling it on the powder. When you have what you think is enough you roll it on the area you want to look dirtied. The best way to get smaller areas is with pointed makeup swabs unless you really want to cake on the material with a rounded one.

Nice work on the figures for such a mass . It’s GOLD!!!

@limburger Krull was a definite fantasy film…. with lasers and evil alien brain thingies!

@rayzryr Sounds like I’m on the right track in just throwing random effects on these things. I keep trying to go up to 28mm level of detail but I remind myself as I paint that its 6mm. Thinking about a color scheme for Chaos Marines… I’ll just finish out the stuff that I have for the moment before I lose myself down that rabbit hole.

The DA look great for the color. Honestly that was something that made me think they were pretty cool as a chapter. In reading fluff for other chapters I think that the Star Phantoms hold my attention most. They also seem to offer the most for conversions from the inspirations of the Capuchin Crypt in Rome, Sedlec Ossuary in the Czech Republic, and San Bernardino alle Ossa in Milan.

Agreed that the passing of Keith does suck. Its interesting to see the spike in Prodigy that I had recommended to me on YouTube.

@rayzryr and @limburger On your models I found that there’s an easy way of getting those checkerboard patterns with a tool just for mask cutting that you can airbrush over. I don’t know about brush painting but it should work too. I own one of these and its what I used on my Ork warlord a while back.

@evilstu I’m versatile. Besides, the 80s aren’t the time to drag up anything that would induce the paroxysms of glee that later music did in sight and sound (speaking of Noise Marines… heh heh heh).

Then again here are some more tunes that were inspired by the era but are modern.

@sundancer  *poke* I hear there’s a new system you just gotta try man. The first game is free. Maybe you need to get a case for all those minis you got too. I hear that IKEA has something for that.
