    @horati0nosebl0wer Those Conan movies were relatively sane by 80’s standards.

    You shouldn’t forget about ‘Red Sonja’ (Brigit Nielsen as Sonja and Arnold as a supporting character) and ‘Krull’, which were Oscar material when compared to the rest :

    Who can forget Beastmaster and The Barbarians (’cause what Arnold can others can do too … twice the muscle half the brain) ?

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092615/

    The wiki ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beastmaster ) mentions two sequels and a tv-series.

    A modern reboot of any of these movies would take itself far too seriously.

Kinda needed me time as the day progressed. Here are some pics of what I’ve worked on.

    also thanks for the Insecticon feedback. Not sure if I should do my entire burgle warband that way or do a deception themed chaos marine army. Please comment

    also I worked on adding to my goblin town Thread so please check that out

    And tearing into Dark Imperium and Conquest, at least the Imprrial side. Have some vehicles for these guys kicking about too. The Minotaurs Chapter to be specific

    Relatively sane, haha, love it. 5 rupees

    @sundancer

    Thanks! Not sure I should do an antire army that way after working on three of them though… Very tempting to do a Decepticon themed armied with Predators in the colours of Blitzwing, a converted chaos Lord as Megatron or Galvatron, and finding a place for all the G1 Decepticons to slot into the army with different units here and there. I could do Scourge and his sweeps as Warp Talons…

    @mage , ah yes Minotaurs. Lapdogs of the High Lords 😛

    Looking pretty boss though dude, so nice one 🙂 And dig the use of the Insecticon scheme on your Plague Marines

    @sundancer I’m with you on getting turned off  GW – for me it was 5th edition that did me in. I think the first dedicated Grey Knights Codex was the last book I brought until the announcement of 8th ed, and the whole revamp of White Dwarf back to a monthly along with them starting up the Warhammer Community program. They might want your money but at least they use Duncan & Peachy to sell it to you 😀

    @horati0nosebl0wer Good call on Conan the Barbarian (that soundtrack) and @limburger for not forgetting Conan the Destroyer or Red Sonja. Between the them probably the closest to getting Frazetta on the big screen. Krull remains a fantastic romp, and it’s so bizarre seeing some of the supporting players who went on  to much bigger things (whilst Ken Marshall probably gets most remembered as Eddington on Deep Space Nine). Any of you guys seen the film version of Howard’s other barbarian warlord Kull? It’s one I keep meaning to watch but never get around to….

    And yeah, Shadowspear is making me look at my MP-01 Convoy figure and thinking if I could flip it for at least the £80-odd most non-GW retailers should have it going for. They will make a perfect recon element for my re-booted Raptors, and it’s wierdly appropos that before the full reveal I’d one an auction for a FW Legion Vigilator:
    DtP9lKAX4AIMzIf

    ….who is going to be PERFECT for Raptors Chapter Master Lias Issodon – No Invulnerable save, but has 2+ armour with an additional 2+ when in cover, so you need at least a -3 to push him out of 2+’s. He adds +1 to all Move, Charge, Fallback & Advance moves of Friendly Raptors Infantry within 6″, including himself, and he starts with a move of 7″. Oh, and he is always able to shoot if he falls back out of combat. He can put himself and up to 3 Raptors infantry (not including Terminators, Centurions or Primaris units) into Ambush, where they can appear at the end of a move phase anywhere on the table outside of 9″ of enemy units – combo that with the Vanguard’s Phobos Armour infiltration ability and you could easily have your whole army outside your deployment zone. And his custom bolter – Malice – is just the nuts: 30″ range, Assault 3, S5 AP-4 Damage D3 and ignores the bonuses for cover saves.

    My old Raptors army had 2 Devastator squads, one with 4 Lascannons and the other with 4 Heavy Bolters. I sense that this could potentially lose me friends, especially if I add in combi-weapons and account for Bolter Drill….

    @limburger <10 rupees>

    I’m aware 🙂 They aren’t finished yet. It was just a WIP showing off the concept as  was eager to share even though I only put a couple of hours into them. Not sure if I should differentiate the tentacles from the armour or keep the flesh metal on some though.

    They will get more highlighting. Probably two for the yellow and purple surface areas, one for the metal and touch up the black which already has a wash and hilgiht.

    Oddly enough, and I know the plot but haven’t seen it, Weird Science actually had a TV show made after the movie which I watched a lot of. Odd show.

    10 rupees for the order. Man that’s a lot of cash to drop. You will have to take pictures when you start hobbying it up with your army.

    @horati0nosebl0wer

    Sounds like the cat found you adequately comfy.

    The mind raid shall now cease. My work is done.

    I did the three Decpticons on a whim. IT does look good, no doubt about it. If I were to do the rest of the Nurgle army in these colours I’d mix up the purple and yellow a little more compared to the colour layout from the source material. And probably not paint organic surfaces in either yellow, purple or silver.

    I’ve thrown a dark tone wash on the metallic since but also notice some parts I missed. They will then get a silver edge highlight. What kind of weather had you in mind?

    As for the yellow I did an orange basecoat, then averland sunset, and a soft tone wash all over. Should I still follow the ‘’…If you stippled a little ochre/burnt umber around the yellow and hit it with a brown wash the age/wear on the yellow areas would definitely pop….’

    I’ve never used pigment powder before so its kinda new and scary to me lol.  Nor rubbing alcohol.

    @dawfydd <20 rupees>

    They are indeed but they get the job done, kick a lot of butt and are well supplied and stocked up. Nothing wrong with that. Would be interesting to know what Robot Gorillaman’s opinion are of them…

    Thanks! They were a couple of hours of work with drybrushing with a large brush. It was a real time saver. I watched some Call of Cthulhu review type youtube videos for the chaosium RPG and the time flew. They will get soft tone washes tonight. I haven’t done serious batch painting since I did the 40 or so Goblin Town Goblins before Christmas and the idea of tearing into them didn’t fill me with terror. I guess doing that many marines at once is akin to an entire army rather than one large unit in a horde army. I think I have a Landraider, Ironclad in Droppod, the Forge World Characters and a bunch of other power armoured marines around somewhere which are all part of the force.

    Thanks! I thought they would fit nicely with plague marines.

    10 rupees for responses to others.

    Man shadowspear marines painted as Raptors is very fitting to say the least. That’s inspired, he’d make a fantastic Issodon from the Badab War books. Nice haul! 10 rupees for the idea

    @mage with mister tax man wanting what little intrest I had (somehow assuming 6-8% return of investment) and the almost 0 interest (0,25 is now 0,20%) on what savings I have it feels like I get punished for not spending.

    I’d swear it is more profitable to go deep into dept as opposed to trying to save for bad days.
    Enough rambling.  I had this list in my shopping cart for months, but I didn’t have a theme in mind.

    Anyways … I reckon the Gitz army total will be +/- 1000 points.
    And posting progress pictures ? hmmm … maybe a project too ?
    That sounds like work … 😉

    I have time to get stuck in this week though.
    I’ve got a bit of shopping to do for my nephews’ birthday (his 9th).

    Why not build a transformer themed kill team instead ?
    I think it makes more sense in context and it works best for themes that may be a bit too over the top for a complete army.

    Would it be ‘Kull’ ? I think I remember seeing that.
    Lots of sword&sorcery themed movies back then. It kind of sucks that ‘superheroes’ are the rage now in Hollywood.
    OTOH … there is a distinct lack of actors who could play a barbarian type character without CGI to *eh* make them bigger.

    @limburger yeah I know… GW has really cranked up the want factor on me lately too… I really don’t need any of the current stuff though. At most I play Kill Team occasionally.

    Very sad news about Keith… you couldn’t go to ANY live venue in Oz in the 90’s and not hear at least one of their main tracks.

    @horati0nosebl0wer if no one has anwered your Harlequin question thoroughly by now… they’re a sub faction… so they can be fielded as part of either Craftworld Eldar or Dark Eldar, or even as their own force. Though they usually lack the numbers for that, and don’t field many vehicles.

    Yes, awful and gaudy is perfect for the Harlequins. Though not as gaudy as say, Noise Marines ???

    @mage @horati0nosebl0wer huh, that’s funny… in Oz we imported G.I. Joe…

    Insecticon Marines are awesome!!! Nice start to, solid colour choices ? I reckon a Decepticon themed Chaos army would be sweet!

    Minotaurs are looking great as well.

    @robert hahaha! One addict won’t feel so bad if he has another to suffer with!! As I said above, I really have no need of either… though I note that BSF can be played solo, which could work for me…

    @tuffyears …hmmm big fire or little fire?

    As long as the Manual isn’t on fire, I’m sure it’ll be fine.

    Hey Team, apologies for the lack of input this week. Busy at work and think I’m coming down with something to boot. never fear though, just had a big bowl of garlic and ginger for dinner. OK, there may have been some vegetables and protein as a garnish… So that should ale what cures me. Or something…

    Struck out on my pledge on the weekend, might try and revisit later this week depending on work commitments. I did get sidetracked by some dwarfs form the WHFB 7th ed starter set so got those primed and prepped for later. Also got base colours on 70 night goblins from the same era starter set to add to my night goblin horde as they didn’t need any attention to progress to that point…

    Heh, 7 pages of posts by Tuesday – not even gonna try and catch up posting responses on that lot at this stage, sorry team 🙂 Good to see everyone joining in though.

    Nervous about picking up a brush – think I’d do more damage than good presently with overstepping so might try for an early night and see what tomorrow yields. Plenty of projects queued up just need a bit of clean air to get stuck in with them.

    @tuffyears wow, serious chaos army! Rebasing 80 minis sounds decidedly less fun that basing 80 minis the first time round (Yeah I know it’s not actually that bad but basing minis feels too much like work to me…). Hope it went well 🙂

    @rayzryr nice work on the DA’s sergeants helmet looks great!

    @biggabum game looks entertaining, hope you gents had a good one 🙂

    @pafetikbazerka welcome!

    @robert oh no! So much sorting undone! Hope you got it sorted out now.

    @mage hope the hobby time with your son was enjoyable 🙂 Nice work getting him hooked so early ;-P Woohoo! Insecticon paint scheme FTW! And bonus cred for posting Dio 😉

    @dawfydd stunning conversion work as always 🙂

    @horati0nosebl0wer Kind of different music pics from you this week – normally your tunes are a bit like biting into a live power cable (That’s a compliment by the way 😉 ), bit more diverse with the 80’s theme this week 🙂 Hope all’s going well.

    @blinky465 99 red balloons is the business! A nice subversive political song wrapped up in a squishy synthpop blanket 🙂 best of luck with the airbrushing, still haven’t tried that with pre-shading but I have seen it used to good effect.

    @woldenspoons ah thanks for the clarification 🙂

    @voidifremoved did you settle on a plan for the camo scheme?

    @sundancer heh you went in too? Maybe just hoard up the extra minis and see if you get inspired to do a project later. Kill team doesn’t take much effort…

    @limburger yes sad news indeed. Saw those guys live..errr… 22 years ago…. Show was great but now I suddenly feel old… 😛 Yes Kung Fury is the essence of the 80’s, simmered down into a concentrate and delivered in a pure, sharp dose to the face 🙂

    Hrm, seems I missed a Shadowspear shaped announcement somewhere…

    Ok, early bedtime calls…

    My hobby time from yesterday consisted of nearly finishing the Dark Angels: transfers are almost all done, just need to do the bases on most of them, and matt varnish them.

    3A4460B4-D3BF-4CD5-B508-D3689F2EB58240F6146B-365F-4413-A82A-6CD3C6C685E2

    I ran out of small 2’s and the large 2’s were too large for the Tactical markings I had mostly used. You can see the size difference above. On the missile launcher Marine, I hand painted the 2 on.

    These two have studied left pauldrons, so the right has to have the Chapter Insignia as well as Squad and Designation.788709E7-5D39-45A6-BB46-71C50E72F7C9EB7D2664-3896-4DA0-A2F6-28F0D3B5244B

    I’m kinda proud of this one too:

    415FEFD8-5676-463F-AC9C-3DEFF617A866708E31C3-ABF9-4FB4-A745-A38CFAF0B600CB437C0B-9CF7-4E72-8EB8-90464F96C7D3

    The tactical marking is half of a transfer, I then use that as a guide to paint over to strengthen the colour, as the Dark Angel green dulls down the red of the tactical arrow marking.

    The Sergeant isn’t done, as I’d put a transfer on to his pauldron then decided after it was well and truly dry that it was in the wrong place. I’ve since removed it, so I can put his squad number there, and the other mark will go into his forearm.

    The other thing was supposed to be DnD but one of our players couldn’t make it, so other plans were made…

    Handpainting markings ? *eep* …

    What’s your secret ?
    I have a pair of magnifying glasses just to cut & glue the minis these days (must be getting old :-D).
    I still doubt I could do fine detail like that though.

    @rayzryr <15 rupees>

    15 rupees for feedback to others.

    Either a Decepticon Kill Team or Army. Not sure an army will work…

    Thanks! Ill update this whenever I do the next bit of work on the Minotaurs.

    Make sure to post a complete pic of the force and a bucketload of points shall be yours.

    You cancelled the entire game over 1 player? We do that if three people cannot make it.

    @evilstu <15 rupees>

    15 rupees for responses. My sinuses acted up yesterday and I got four hours ish of sleep last night so I am not the best either. Looks like I summoned a plague with Question 1. Garlic helps.

    Get back to the pledge when you can. Pics!

    You could try, points pending! Aren’t doing too bad this weekender.

    Field research to whether you can hobby when you are sick.

    Hobby time with my son was fun. It actually calmed down his often hyper, bouncy personality a little.

    Sleep well

    @limburger I am pretty sure @rayzryr Is using the drug from that movie ‘Limitless’ for the freehand.

    @sundancer What system are you thinking of NOT starting?
