@voidifremoved Mmmmm if it was me I think I would weather the tank and make it look chipped so that the primer colour shows in places and then paint some of the panels in the primer colour so that it looks as though the panels have been replaced aand not painted by the crew yet. Matty’s suggestion is to paaint the tank in camo but paint some of the panels in a completely different camo design so they look as though they were salvaged from another tank.
@evilstu Thanks mate, the spoon comment made me laugh, and is probably something I should really watch out for 😀
@robert thanks mate, good to see you too. Yeah just glad it wasnt both eyes and was temporary (i’m type 2 Diabetic and had a fluid build in the back of the eye).
Warmachine is a pretty cool game and highly reccommended (although not everybody likes it). The rules are pretty well balanced (theres a few niggles but no more than any other game and a lot less than some), the fluff is excellent and evolves over time. The Mini’s are pretty good too.
@tuffyears Thats pretty impressive. I’ve seen a 5k Space Wolves army before but nothing that big (outside of a GW display). Kudo’s to you.
March 1, 2019 at 2:12 pm #1355636And I am back after payday errands. Gonna watch some Star Trek Discovery and maaaaaybe do hobby before bed. Twelve hour night shift.
Wooooo…..
On the plus side im off for three days and have my son this weekend.
My own pledge:
***************
> Work on my Tiefling D&D character. That is literally it and all for now. I will probably add to my pledge once my son goes home and my time frees up. Aside from dad-ing and doing my thaaaang hosting the thread that is all Ill most likely get a chance to do til Sunday.
March 1, 2019 at 2:32 pm #1355640@biggabum <20 rupees>
Glad to hear back from you. Hope you are feeling better. Left eye feeling better? Odd coincidence about the questing on being sick and your own stuff…
Enjoy your granddaughter’s birthday and hopefully you can have it all and get a Warmachine game in. Trying new toys is always good.
10 rupees for the post and 10 rupees for the army lists.
Which Stryker? Stryker2 can be a bugger…
@biggabum <55 rupees>
1) So you ride out the storm to the best of your cranky ability 😀 5 rupees
2) I would agree, or at least 80%. Like, to me, not so much for basecoating. But yeah at the critical stages of painting a mini then not so much. 10 rupees.
3) I think it was an unprecedented time of creativity, experimentation, and expressiveness. The 90s, things kind of congealed a bit more and set up a more manufactured entertainment industry. Everything now, with movies and tv, is a reboot, continuation, franchise or based on a book. There are pros and cons to all eras I guess. 15 Rupees.
4) 10 rupees, good choices.
5) Why marbles are just dice without flat sides right? You still used a random ish way to resolve combats. 15 rupees.
March 1, 2019 at 3:35 pm #1355661@mage Yeah mate, a bit of a coincidence but then again I suppose it’s the time of year for bugs n stuff. Left eye is fine now apart from a little more blurry than it was when things are up close but otherwise fine now.
I think it was about 94 that things started to go down hill. I don’t know why but nothing seemed new anymore, just tweeks on what had already been done. We seemed to lose the variety in music with manafactured bands coming to the fore, some were ok but most were just Meh.
The 90’s and on was also the demise of the movie…. or the original movie anyway. Hollywood seemed to run out of fresh ideas, and while a few good uns do slip through there have been far to many sub standard remakes/reboots and unnecessary sequels that are rarely as good as the original.

(1) Vitamin C is actually useless full stop unless you combine it with zinc. Otherwise it does nothing. 5 rupees.

(3) List a few and Ill give you a buncha points 😉 Also post music videos. 5 rupees for now.
(4) I loved turles way back when too. Also, the original three movies were better than anything made since. Have a youtube link to spellbinder? Sounds fun. 10 rupees
(5) 15 rupees, nice inspirations. Maybe try and convert a few and develop your skills?
5 ruppees for the pldge. Tank looks good so far.
Perhaps scorch marks and battle damage? Model bullet holes and laser burns? Weathering powders?
Oh, different types of weathering on different panels and some panels with different camo or paint and some looking. Also subtle cult icons here and there? Kind of like a car with a replacement door, bonnet or front bumper that hasn’t been repainted yet? Maybe adding different accessories from different vehicless like dozer blades and las guns?
And maybe ever few tank threads one or two is different?
@sundancer <35 rupees>
(1) Chicken soup and sleep is the one. 10 rupees
(2) Me too tbh. Its just tune out and youtube videos mostly. 5 rupees lot
(3) 5 rupees. Why does the adult disagree with the younger self?

March 1, 2019 at 4:05 pm #1355666Is there a single song that epitomises the 80s more than 99 Red Balloons? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14IRDDnEPR4)
Dodgy haircuts? Check.
Rolled up sleeves on casual jackets – bingo!
Leather jeans, dodgy dancing, slap bass, jaunty tunes, everyone having a great time (against a backdrop of austerity). And all the while, the threat of nuclear annihilation hanging over everyone (just listen to the lyrics). Which probably explains why it’s not quite as jaunty as Walking on Sunshine or Come On Eileen – but it’s a pretty good metaphor for much of the decade!To the questions:
1) keep busy. Ignore it. It’ll either go away or kill you 😉
2) painting is difficult with a drippy nose – I ruined a few half-decent paintjobs last November, best not to risk it!
3) it looked light great fun at the time (although I was only a child/teenager) though looking back on it from today’s point of view, it looks more and more sinister!
4) The A-Team was pretty cool when it first came to the UK.
5) I tried to get into D&D after seeing a few of those cartoons on the telly, but it did nothing for me. I’m not entirely sure if anything from TV/film pushed me towards tabletop gaming (except maybe Aliens and Space Hulk), though I am quite excited about the idea of re-creating Masters of the Universe on the tabletop after finding some miniatures on etsy the other day!
March 1, 2019 at 5:13 pm #1355720Just something I found earlier.
March 1, 2019 at 8:15 pm #1355749Well we caught a break this afternoon and just finished the game we were going to play throughout tomorrow… yay us.
Not going to have time to do a proper Bat rep but….
We both spent the first turn moving our respective armies into range. Not knowing how nasty the Kraken was going to be I made sure that I kept my troops that could combine fire and all my shooty jacks close to the darn thing. A risky move in that if I ended up opposite Matty’s Bile Thralls he could really do some damage to my chances very quickly. Fortunately Matty deployed his Biles on the flank opposite my Long Gunners and Trencher Commandos. By the end of the second turn I had wiped out the Bile Thralls, and thanks to Striker casting Earthquake through the Lancer and knocking his Bane Warriors to the ground everything that could shoot on that side of the board opened up on them.
Matty moved to counter by using his Reaper to drag the Lancer to him but had some appaling luck as both the Reaper and The Slayer failed to do any damage. This allowed me to counter with my Ironclad and freed up the rest of the troops on that side of the board to go after Blackbane and his raiders.
Matty’s lack of experience using the Kraken meant he was getting in his own way and blocking his own Mechanithralls from getting into the fight allowing the Trencher commando’s to get into his flank. With the Long Gunners and Trenchers now in range to combine their shots and my Defender, Charger and Hunter all targetting the Kraken it only took two turns to cripple it and a lucky boosted shot from the Defender to take it out completely.
Matty tried a clever move with Gaspy but it went wrong when he tried to cast a spell with the Skarlock Thrall before he had intended to end Gaspy’s activation leaving him in full view of the Trencher Commando’s and the two remaining shooty Jacks and unable to finish what he intended to do. Gaspy was gone and his remaining Jacks were inert. With the Mechanithralls still stuck at the back of his lines the center was mine.
This left Matty with a problem, no matter which way Denny, his last caster, went, her back was vulnerable to either my flanking force or the guns from my central line. Matty took a while to assess the situation and realising that he was stuck between a rock and a hard place he conceded.
March 1, 2019 at 11:30 pm #1355766@robert <60 rupees>
Sounds like you have quite a few refurbishment days ahead of you. Is that your pledge?
(1) That’s like saying ‘what could possible go wrong… 5 rupees
(2) 10 Rupees, sounds therapeutic.
(3) Don’t suppose you saw any of Steel Panthers gigs on their recent European tour? 30 Rupees for all the various things you list out.
(4) What was Metal Mickey?
(5) Quite a few wargamers seem to like trains. The CGI stuff is kinda pointless but my son liked it for a while. Interesting curtain tip. 15 rupees.
Listening to your music now as I type responses so points pending 😉
Glad you are digging the theme haha. I thought about themes ages back, a time when the threads were more popular, and people didn’t seem to vibe with it. Not saying its something I will do every time I host, but I will do it if something comes to mind and it flows right.
@pafetikbazerka <70 rupees>
And onto the questions!
(1) 5 rupees. A decent dose of common sense!
(2) 15 rupees.
(3) Elaborate if you’d like for the sake of conversation, and I shall awrd out more points. If you want 😉
(4) Brilliant choices, and haha your brother, 30 rupees. That’s awesome.
(5) So destiny lit the beacon and you answered the call. 20 rupees.

Haha, like listening takes so much effort.
March 1, 2019 at 11:41 pm #1355770Ah crap sandwiches I noticed I lost some of a reply through copy and paste. Ill come back to that later. Page 2 post with responses to page one. Feeeeckit
@biggabum <10 rupees>
I will get to your music list shortly.
10 rupees for conversation and replies.
@robert <60 rupees>
10 rupees for the find and 50 rupees for the music on page 1. I liked all of it.
@blinky465 <55 rupees>
Very true with that song. 10 rupees for the commentary. I do have a soft spot for Come on Eileen.
Cant remember did you make a pledge again? Did I award points?
10 rupees for music on page 1.
1) Haha grim and to the point. 5 rupees.
2) Very much so. Poor minis. Nurgle be praised. 10 rupees.
3) How so if you do not mind me asking?
4) 5 rupees.
5) If you want I can send you some links to an artist friend who is doing that on facebook? He made his own castle greyskull for a Warhammer quest mod I believe. 15 rupees.
March 1, 2019 at 11:44 pm #1355771Pictures of the batrep are great. I shall read through it now. Photos are great too. Points pending for that and music.
March 2, 2019 at 3:07 am #1355773March 2, 2019 at 7:24 am #1355807@evilstu @mage @biggabum I faced Stryker in my first ever non demo game of Warmahordes back in 1.0. He basically just kept knocking all of my trolls over and I really couldn’t do anything. Sounds like his flavour remains which is good.
(1) How do you deal with a cold or flu?
Painkillers, keeping warm and keeping hydrated. Also ‘feed a cold, starve a fever’.
(2) Can you hobby when you feel run down? (Initially I accidentally wrote run over…)
When I had my accident a couple of years ago and broke my ribs and neck I could still wargame but sat down on a low table. I couldn’t paint or glue anything. As for with a cold my hobby room is cold so I tend to avoid it and nobody wants their lahmium medium mixed with any other fluids…
(3) Your opinion on the entertainment industry of the 1980s is…?
Of its time. My key school years were in the 80s so I was pretty much surrounded by it. I loved the cartoons we had but not the music or fashion.
(4) Name a tv show you liked when you were younger or a child
So many. So so many.
Transformers, Droids, Ghostbusters, thundercats, he-man (and she ra shh), knight knight rider, the a team, manimal, automan, airwolf, streethawk, blue thunder, Spiderman and his amazing friends, X-Men, cities of gold, dogtanion, and dragons, around the twist, terrahawks the list goes on. They really don’t make them like this anymore.
(5) What toys or tv shows influenced you, directly or not, a little or a lot into this broad hobby?
I think I discovered gaming seperate to TV. They probably led me to each other. Although I realise I used to enjoy buildings Zoids following the instruction manual. That led me to GeeDubya tanks and things for sure.
