@sundancer I forgot to add what I saw at the LEGO store today.. speaking of other addictions… notably your penchant for Star Wars
March 6, 2019 at 6:01 am #1357416@horati0nosebl0wer your… “hobby incentives” are much appreciated. If I had the space, DETOLF (with additional shelves in it) would already have found it’s way into our home. So no more new systems for me right now. (And even though I still have all my 3rd – 5th edition W40k stuff I’d consider it a new system) And the LEGO stuff is tempting me all the time at my FLGS… if I only had the space for the bigger models… the smaller ones fit here and there… but space is finite.
March 6, 2019 at 10:27 am #1357529Yeah, LEGO do have supercool and incredibly expensive models.
They almost make Forgeworld models look cheap by comparison.March 6, 2019 at 11:26 am #1357570@mage so, it isn’t built into the core box of Gloomhaven. I’m not actually sure of the source, but it wasn’t house-ruled/ homebrewed… I’ll ask Steve and let you know!
@limburger “Now if only those flocking houses didn’t have the insane pricing.”
I hear you on that one!
@robert happy to share!
Lately I’ve done it like this:
Base: Spray with Dark Angel green. Or Caliban Green it is now, I think…
Wash with Black. Whatever the current Citadel Black wash is… Badab Black? I’m still using Citadel inks… from the 80’s!!
Highlight 1: Mix approx 2 parts Dark Angel Green to 1 part Goblin Green.
I apply very thin highlights to higher edges of the helmet, armour plates etc. In the pauldrons I hit the uppermost curve and the corner at the front.
Highlight 2: Reverse the ratios of DA Green to Goblin Green (So now 1:2) and apply thinner, smaller highlights.
Basically that’s it. If I feel that they’re too bright, I’ll give them another thin glaze of the black, but really thinned down so it just sort of blends the layers together and dulls them a little, bit not too much!
@horati0nosebl0wer oh now that’s a cool tool! It would make it a hell of a lot easier and neater to paint the check patterns…
Yeah, it would be easy to get carried away on the detail on them, especially if you look at the art work for the old Adeptus Titanicus and Space Marine. The old Titans were covered in heraldry and iconography
March 6, 2019 at 12:02 pm #1357591@rayzryr damn it … stop reminding me of an Eldar add-on for AT
I shall resist … I shall resist.
Must finish my Gitz first. I promise.//
In other news ‘Tainted Grail’ pledgemanager opened … and the *beeps* from Awakened Realms gave wallpapers for their next project called ‘Etherfields’ as a freebie gift after completion.
The only info so far is a facebook group :
https://www.facebook.com/groups/etherfields
No more kickstarters I promised myself.
At least not ones with a post 2019 deadline.
*arggh* why must these things be soo prettyMarch 6, 2019 at 12:58 pm #1357635So I wanted to talk about music in the 80’s… since you guys have been putting up some interesting stuff, much I’ve not even heard before! I’ll try not to ramble…
There was only one radio station my parents ever listened to when I was a kid: Triple M. A commercial radio, rock focused station. You were guaranteed to always here the same music. So there are plenty of bands/artists/songs that I’m sick of hearing from the 80’s. They may not be actually crap (though some are definitely crap). But I’m so over them.
It was gonna do a “bands I’m sick of hearing/ bands I wish I’d known about” list. But I’ll keep it positive and enjoyable! ? So here’s some tunes that I actually still enjoy from the 80’s or wish that I’d known about back then.
March 6, 2019 at 1:20 pm #1357638Hmm, getting late… tired brain…
missed a couple of replies I wanted to make. And I thought I’d posted my hobby progress… but hadn’t… lol
@mage speeding ticket sucks. At least Heroquest arrived!
@horati0nosebl0wer Star Phantoms are pretty cool. And they’re a rumoured DA successor, though both deny it. They certainly are not counted among the Unforgiven.
Those sites would be great inspirations for that chapter! I imagine a dreadnought or land raider decked out in the bones of slain battle brothers as mobile reliquaries… the Aquila across the front of a tank made up of femurs, ribs and skulls (of course, it’s 40k)…
Hobby progress… I nearly forgot it again, until I did a final proof read of my post ?
basing on the rest of the squad
The Sergeant, basing not done yet:
Pic 1 is a decal, it’s a Rogue Trader era Veteran Sergeants rank insignia. In the correct position now…
Pic 2 is squad number, decal.
Ok, good night! ??
March 6, 2019 at 4:39 pm #1357726Damn, some amount of posts to get through I wont complain though, 10 pages is the most robust one of these I’ve run for some time. The thread will end tomorrow night at 19:00, my time.
Ill start a new one up Friday.
I’ll be finishing work early tonight and get more hobby time today (dont have to sleep) and tomorrow (wont be sleeping the day away and be like a zombie when I get up).
Today I have torn through my Minotaurs. Sadly I ran out of soft tone which left me short for my Redemptor Dreadnought and one of those new floaty space marines. With these guys I have one half worth of Dark Imperium, the contents of Conquest as well as some stuff from before which I bought.
I’ve done priming and assembly. Put one coat down of Incubi Darkness on my Death Guard (a Dark Imperium’s worth, another Dark Imperium’s worth, and all my conquest up to now) except for some stragglers who need priming. The poxwalkers will take longer and are being done now while everything else dries, or sits there from not having the right wash. Time for a break though so I said I’d come along here.
So yeah lots of basecoats getting done with all of the above and more to do. Pics to follow.
Tomorrow though I am hitting the gym as I’ve been a lazy potato for the last few days. Then my friend will call over and we will paint more of her Moria Goblins. She also picked up the Goblin King and the King of the Depths for her Moria force. Then it will be Dungeons and Dragons afterward! And a couple of more days off.
Time to go back through the thread before I hit the painting desk again. Im watching a lot of this dude:
March 6, 2019 at 4:56 pm #1357734@horati0nosebl0wer <30 rupees>
So, Id take my Averland Sunset and add some of the light brown, or just use light brown as like a highlight? Forgive me for the specifics, I mean you are taking me the time to teach me this which is great and appreciated but Ive been described by coworkers of various ranks as being pedantic (not in an insulting way, as we are in a highly procedural driven workplace, as well as me doing in-house audits) that I really have to have all the moving parts laid out in front of me to put it together.
10 rupees though.
My father uses rubbing alcohol for cleaning on his dinkies (a collector in his own right). Interesting.
As for the gold, they look great after a wash, but I have run out of said wash.
Nice meme, 10 rupees.
10 rupees for feedback to the others. Once more I must come back to the music.
@sundancer <5 rupees>
@limburger <5 rupees>
@rayryr <5 rupees>
All of the above for chatting and keeping the thread going, once more I will come back to music when its convenient for me.
@rayzryr <60 rupees>
Additional 10 rupees for feedback to others, tips and pics of the titans. 10 for the commentary on 80s music.
Speeding ticket does suck. 80 euros down the drain and points on my license. Heroquest I am overjoyed with. Its in pristine condition dude. I mean PRISTINE.
40 rupees for the finished squad. Damned impressive.
March 6, 2019 at 4:59 pm #1357736Okay clocking off for a while. Might try and get some priming in and more painting before work. Coffee… it… calls to me…
March 6, 2019 at 5:14 pm #1357743I did hobby today. Proper pro painting. Put Agrax Earthshade on some bases.
