As I’ve marked the pledges I’ve just added to 2024 as either ‘complete’ or ‘in progress’ I hope the opposite isn’t true… I hope I can succeed at pledges I didn’t make!
January 12, 2025 at 7:16 am #1911394I don’t remember making any pledges for 2024, if I did, I almost certainly didn’t complete them. Anyway, maybe 2025 is the year I try to get my hobby under some control rather than the ‘scattergun’ approach I normally follow.
So, this year I plan to do the following if I can.
- Finish off my 15mm Ancient India army and finally mark that project as complete at the very least. If possible, look over some of my other projects and get those marked as complete to reduce the number of active projects I have.
- Put some effort into some sort of Pirate game, possibly Blood and Plunder or something else. In any case, I have a lot of figures and ships that I need to assemble and paint. Most likely do some terrain to go with it.
- Re-home lots of my terrain builds to free up some space and unclutter my mind.
- Paint more than I buy or produce. That goes for figures and terrain and update my stocktake project to bring it up to date.
- Put a restriction on spending so that I can only spend money I generate through clearing out other projects and commission works. No dipping into my wages for new toys. I have boxes upon boxes of untouched stuff to keep me busy.
- Play more games with friends and family.
- Play some of the board games in our collection that have never been played.
- Avoid looking at Kickstarter and becoming a sucker for FOMO.
Pretty sure I will not complete even half of that, but I will do my best to try to stay on track.
January 12, 2025 at 10:05 am #1911396Given that I recently bought Echo Base Defenders I am going to revise my pledge for 2025.
1) Paint Echo Base Defenders and everything else I have for the rebels. Play the game of course.
2) Get miniatures ready for Dad’s Army RPG.
3) Finish painting the last miniatures for Journey’s in Middle Earth and play it again.
4) Play some games of Mythic Battles: Pantheon now that the I have Core and Pandora boxes fully painted…
[And as I bought Hera, Hephaestus and Poseidon boxes I need to paint them.]5) Homebrew RPG on hold for the time being, but I will do more work on it.
6) Get Discworld minis ready for the RPG.
7) Carnevale miniatures have fallen to the bottom of the list and will probably languish… however… some work for Discworld…
8) And this is the hardest to succeed at… don’t buy another skirmish game this year… except maybe miniature agnostic where I already have stuff that would fit the genre of the game.
February 2, 2025 at 7:37 pm #1914357One of my pledges this year is to:
“Build and paint several complete Legions Imperialis formations. Ideally enough to let me make a fully playable army. Build on the modelling work I’ve done on this over the last week following a ‘meet other players and learn the game’ day at the FLGS.”
Since then I have made quite a bit more stuff, begun writing an army list (more to organise my models for painting) and today I got to spray undercoating most of what I’ve done so far.

Missing from this are the Predators and Kratos tanks because I think I’m going to model them without sponsons (I prefer to make the tanks look a bit more modern by not adding them on), but if I do this I’m going to need to fill some gaps before I prime them.
The above minis are mostly going to be Blood Angels, but the Land Raiders and – I think – the Terminators will be Imperial Fists. I’ve also got two detachments of what will be Emperor’s Children with rhinos (plus command).
February 25, 2025 at 4:22 pm #1917387Not a very exciting image but I completed one of my goals: Start and end a campaign game. I went with Stuffed Fables as I’m waiting a demanding hobby delivery and I wanted something short I could complete. I can now offer this out to friends who have young kids. It was fun, but not great, soloing it as an adult. The rules are simple, even if they’re not always clear. the dice bag mechanic was interesting, when it wasn’t stopping me from doing what I needed to. It’s very hard to lose, once you figure out how best to defend your stuffies. I can certainly see this game being much more enjoyable if you’re playing it with young kids though. I couldn’t get any this time though. Not after last time. They won’t let me back down that park again.
February 25, 2025 at 4:58 pm #1917389I completed two of my goals this year and failed one already.
I’ve painted the Dad’s Army miniatures and the Discworld miniatures that I have.
The failure is not buying another skirmish game… Silver Bayonet and Five Parsecs From Home bought.

April 4, 2025 at 11:34 am #1923109My delivery has finally arrived and I’m making good progress. Got done everything I need to start playing, and started work on more.

April 4, 2025 at 2:35 pm #1923158April 4, 2025 at 3:07 pm #1923174You can’t just take pics inside a GW warehouse and claim its your pile of shame 😉
Good luck with that. it should keep you going for a little while.
April 4, 2025 at 3:19 pm #1923181WTF! Did you hijack a GW delivery? That’s got to be a few thousand worth of plastic.
