I actually did what I set out to do! I sold off most of what I had piled on my shelves. Unfortunately, Canada Post is now on strike, so three parcels are waiting to be even started en route.

Sold off EVERYTHING I wanted to sell, with the Orks going locally yesterday

    – Horus Heresy (the largest pile!)

    – Victrix WW2

    – Victrix Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, Normans

    – Star Wars Legion

    – Warhammer Old World Orcs (a surprising large number of all metals)

    – Vietnam 28mm

    – 40k Orks

Which leaves me with three projects for 2025:

    – Battletech

    – Legions Imperialis

    – Gaslands/Car Wars

So not bad. I can live with that.

Well done to everyone for making progress on their hobby in 2024. For my part (and with still a few weeks to go) I actually managed to complete over half my pledges and make a start on all but one of the rest.

I finished my Flames of War German gun teams. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project-entry/1900205/

I also finished all of my Bushido terrain https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1814490/

And I managed to play a game of Flames of War. In this case, a D Day landing battle on Sword beach which was a great evening’s entertainment.

    I’ll be back for 2025!

Given ATO has been sat at the local distribution hub awaiting shipping since early November and shows no sign of movement, it appears I just finished my final pledge for the year: Play 3 campaigns.  People of the Sun for Kingdom Death: Monster is now done.  Sadly, it’s a disappointing campaign.  My survivors did get to become superheroes, which is very un-KDM.  That was fun.  However, due to unclear rules writing I was never sure I was doing thing right and perhaps they weren’t meant to be so Super?  The story itself was also very “Stuff Happens” and the ending was just flat.  May as well have replaced the text there with the word “The End”, or “You can stop now”.  People of the Stars and People of the Lantern were much better.  I hope it gets cleaned up and its story gets tweaked as part of Campaigns of Death, when all this stuff is supposed to be getting an errata.

Anyway, that’s me done for the year, and with 10 whole days left to spare.  I’m off to paint stuff now.

New Year’s Eve and my end of year summary is as follows:

Total painted 146/365 which included 2 completed forces, one for Xenos Rampant and one for Saga: Age of Hannibal.  There were 1061 new unpainted models acquired, 224 disposed of so the pile of potential grew by 691 which is mostly for a single hobby area (Darkest Africa). Here at OTT there was 1 Golden Button, Runner Up in Best Idea in the Spring Clean Challenge and an honourable mention in the end of year awards, all for the Bauhaus Imperial Guard project.  I did pledge to get my A War Transformed and Aztecs vs Conquistadors done but neither made it near the painting table.  Overall though I’m happy as this represents a 40% completion from only about 25% of the normal hobby time I would get in a year.  Looking forward to a hobby filled 2025 🙂

I do miss the old GW metal guard models – some of the best made.

How did I do in 2024, again missed a couple of pledges on the Napoleonic Cavalry and Infantry, but I did manage to get two regiments of infantry painted this year 🙌.

The main targets were getting the Republican Roman and Carthaginian armies painted to enable them to be used for To the Strongest and I have managed both of those with the Romans taking to the table several times already this year and the Carthaginians to make their debut early in the New Year.

On reducing the “pile of pride” I failed in this managing to paint 354 miniatures but adding 424 to the pile. Although 305 of these were added in December! For which I blame the Lardies and Warlord by releasing new rules and supplements.

So onwards and upwards in 2025.

I didn’t do to bad this year and it kept me on the straight an narrow.

    Painted my wild west terrain.

Reduced my pile by around 25 models having brought in some new ones

Did some dead trees with magnets on a base ready for some verret wood and future gaming

Painted up the Hail Caesar Romans I wanted to get completed

Painted 3 US tanks and played Acthung Panza

    Finished Oathsworn – Great games

And played 3 games of Verretwood – I love the dark folklore

Missed a few or only half completed some but I’m good with that.

Now to think onto 2025 …. as I’ve just moved house and it need a lot doing with it It will be about enhancing what I have and playing games I think.
