Okay, so I’ve brought my ticket for Factorum & Crow Industries War of 3038 Battletech event at the end of February, got my force approved (fyi 2 Lances comprised of 1x Centurion, 1x Commando, 1x Wolfhound, 1x Phoenix Hawk, 1x Wolverine, 1x Black Knight & 1x Highlander), and today got all the minis I’m taking (plus an Urbanmech for the Saturday evening Urbie Derpy event if my back holds out) as well as a few additional Mechs primed up using Wraithbone. My plan is to do all of these in Kell Hound colours, dipping my toe into Contrast paints for the first time (mainly as this will be my first painting of, well, anything, since mid 2019)….

I also built the new(ish) Mirage-5 set for Infinity, sticking to my Ariadnan theme of basing everything on Micro Art Studios Urban Fight bases, and these were a lovely build. I will though need to get some greenstuff into the gaps where Duroc’s torso joins the lower body….

Oh, and I’ve gotten the Custodes & Sisters of Silence from Shadow Throne built, realising that, added to the Talons of The Emperor I’ve had built but not painted already, I have easily 2000 points of gooooold to paint. Just need to get some Leather Brown primer (I find it gives the gold on the Custodes a warmer base). Of course, I do already have 10 Custodes & 10 Sisters that I’ve had painted up for years now…

The Butcher for Kingdom Death: Monster. Another fine example of a model that looks good in my hand but awful under camera.

Well, we aren’t even out of January yet and my 2022 Hobby Pledge has just has a smoking hole blown in it ?.  My original plan was to something similar to last year when I decided to paint the entirety of my Star Saga Kickstarter pledge, so I picked Infinity Defiance and it’s two expansions.  It was a bit more ambitious because I tend to spend more time on Infinity miniatures because they’re almost universally absolutely stunning.  I painted the first three Shasvastii before someone arranged a gaming weekend at the first weekend of March for which I need to paint a load of Fantasy miniatures.  So DEFIANCE is now on hold until sometime in mid-march as I frantically try to sort everything out for my gaming weekend.  I foresee quite a lot of contrast paint and/or quickshade dip will be involved.

I will still try and complete the original pledge because I really want to play DEFIANCE and I won’t play it with barr metal.

Nothing says you can’t rewrite your pledge in the face of changing reality.  I shift mine sometimes.  Its a motivational tool, not a legal commitment.  You do what’s best for you.

My goal this year is to get back to some regular painting progress.  Despite more time at home I’ve not been able to get much work done on my hobby.  This week I finally finished the last of the undead I will be adding to my Ven Rier force in Wolsung.  Now onto some Statgrave pieces as well as the pile of Reaper Bones…

A quick update on progress as the month of February draws towards a close (I know one week to go).

I have managed to assemble 49 miniatures this year, 43 of my Dweghom army and a few Space Marines whilst my son was at the local Warhammer shop.

Painting has been a bit slower with a count of 21, 13 Dweghom and 8 pieces of terrain for Star War Legion.

I’ve managed two games so far this year as the third got cancelled due to Storm Eunice ripping through Kent.

More details on the Dweghom are at my project: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1532335/

Quick update – I ticked off anohter HObby Goal for the year by attending the Battletech War of 3039 event at Factorum this past weekend – I could only manage 1 of the 2 days, but mentally it was a big step and one I really do fancy repeating. I put my thoughts on the event here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project-entry/1719117/

Next up? Well in addition to tomorrow being my not-birthday (the joys of being a leap year baby), it is the first of March. And I quite fancy taking part in March For Macragge, the annual challenge to paint something Ultramarine over the course of Mars’ month….

    Finally, I’ve completed the first of my hobby pledges! My first pledge was to;

    1. Finish painting my 3 platoons of Panzergrenadiers for FoW (I make that about 100 15mm models)

And almost two and half months into 2022, I’ve done it. I’ve posted the results here:

    Some More Germans

Although given how long just this effort has taken, I’m already not optimistic about my chances of completing the other 5 pledges I made….

Hi lads and ladies, I am late (Oh only a quarter of a year .. you boofhead) to enter this year . but I have been painting well and had a most successful start. My grand aim is to paint 48 models this year .. I am on track so far. There are other targets there too … which once again I will miss. but i will add those to the spreadsheet as I go. Very impressed with the quality of work I have seen so far. You are all very inspiring. Post something soon … hopefully . Cheers B
