I’ve managed to paint all the models I aimed for at the start of the year, and have kicked on with a new project for the Silver Bayonet.
I wanted to get some terrain ready this year, and have got a few things done to go with my games of Test of Honour – some scratch built fences, a paddy field, some bamboo forest and I finished a couple of resin buildings today. I don’t enjoy making/painting terrain as much as painting figures, so this goal has lagged behind a bit, but I think I can be happy with what I’ve done, especially if I get a couple more pieces of bamboo forest done.
Only goal left to tick off is ‘paint more than I buy.’ I was well on top, but had a bit of a splurge on a few new things this month, so I’m about 20 minis behind breaking even.
November 9, 2021 at 12:23 pm #1692550That’s 3 more Bloodcrushers of Khorne, taking me up to a max unit of 12. I’ve any 13 more models to paint to hit my target if KDM arrives. If it doesn’t, then I’ve already hit my goals for the year.
November 22, 2021 at 10:59 am #1696295If anyone is interested, I’ve got the 2022 thread started here. The 2022 tab of the sheet is also live.
Get busy thinking and planning. There’s still plenty of time to work on 2021 goals too.
November 23, 2021 at 4:16 pm #1696838Penultimate update from me. 542 painted so far this year. Since last time I’ve been reworking some Late Romans for Saga: Age of Invasions:
Levy/Limitanei
Mounted Hearthguard
Then the second half of the Morder army including some Morannon Orcs:
Mordor Troll Captain and Trolls:
and a random Spider Queen:
Duff basing scheme to match my Mordor Goblins who were probably done when the range first came out 20 years ago.
Regular updates are now also on my Instagram so please drop by and give me a Follow, I always follow back and it would be good to see updates from a few more OTTers in my feed.
November 23, 2021 at 4:34 pm #1696851I’ve made a start on the Saga project for next year.
November 24, 2021 at 8:16 pm #1697290November updated. The push to complete my Khador figures for Broadside 2021 next month has pushed my painting along in the last month, unfortunately it slowed me down to a stop on the Batman: Gotham City Chronicles figures but there are only 12 to go so I should find time over the next 38 days!
So far in 2021 I have painted 282 figures or bits of terrain, so I aim to finish off the year over the 300 mark. Considering I managed 221 in 2020 I’m very happy. Lockdown and isolation have helped a lot as has the regularly Friday evening Zoom painting calls that we have made as a club, but with in person gaming returning I suspect these will fall away.
December 30, 2021 at 12:12 pm #1705688December 30, 2021 at 2:49 pm #1705746Nicely done @andre77 Congratulations on the completed Vietnam miniatures and table – they look amazing.
December 30, 2021 at 4:59 pm #1705801Well the year ends tomorrow and I honestly don’t think I could get any more completed in 2021 than I have. I set out this year to do the following:
- Finish painting Batman: Gotham City Chronicles (Complete: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1578405/)
- Finish painting my Indomitus Marines (Scrapped)
- Finish my Steampunk Challenge (Complete: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1589519/)
- Paint more than I buy (I seem to have managed to paint more than I purchased, but didn’t paint everything purchased)
- Assemble my Dweghom (Now in progress: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1532335/)
- Paint some more WW2 terrain (I’ve managed to get a few more bits painted, but I have a lot of buildings that I printed that need painting still).
and then added:
- Paint Khador forces for Broadside (I didn’t expect this one to come round, but it was well worth it: https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1532335/)
All in I managed to paint 310 miniatures or bits of terrain in 2021, which is nearly 100 more than I managed in 2020. Unfortunately, I haven’t managed to game anywhere near as much as previously so I’m guessing it balances out. The biggest difference for me has been dedicating the time on a Friday evening, when we would normally have gamed, to painting and using Zoom to keep in touch with others in the club who were also painting/modelling.
December 30, 2021 at 10:22 pm #1705897I managed to complete all my goals for 2021. With hindsight I probably aimed a bit low, but the goals helped keep me focused on painting what I wanted to get done at the start of the year, so was a useful exercise.
I managed 289 painted models plus scratch building and painting 24 bits of scatter terrain and objective markers. I got a handful more models painted than purchased, and I’m in a fairly good place to hit 2022 running with trying to wrap up some Silver Bayonet stuff before taking a look at possible new projects for the new year.
December 31, 2021 at 9:50 am #1705928It’s great to see you all revisiting this thread. Well done on all the good work.
I finished my final goal last week: I painted one more model than I’ve gained this year, especially as KD:M turned up 2 days ago. I’ve tweaked a cople of my 2022 goals too. I’m hoping for a good producive year with more emphasis on playing over painting, but with progress still being made.
December 31, 2021 at 11:38 pm #1706036I’m all done for this year and the final total is 601 miniatures completed.
There is a video review of this on my Instagram. Well done to @jodain @scribbs and of course our originator @lawnor for your superb successes this year. Well done to all, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed following everyone’s progress and updates in this topic and across the site. I’m looking forward to getting started on 2022’s pile of prospects tomorrow 😀
January 1, 2022 at 11:15 am #1706058@zoidpinhead That looks really impressive when laid out on a table. How much area does that cover? Is it about 4ft x 2ft of painted models and terrain?
January 1, 2022 at 11:42 am #1706060@scribbs thank you. I’m glad you asked that before I put it away 😀
Very impressive area estimate! I bet you are a dab hand at estimating long ranges. It measures 5 feet by 2 .5 feet.
