As I’ve not done much in the way of hobby the last few years, I think it’s time to join the Project Forum and take it from there.

To start, I will find and take pics of stuff that I have done from over the years. Then I will get to work on my backlog of unpainted minis…vehicles and armies I have, and if i get the time I have a few Kickstarters that need unboxing and playing with.

Some of this will happen, but as we all know…. Life has a nasty habit of butting in, but I will give it my best shot.

Hi Team after last years mid year train wreck I have decided to pledge to do 100 models (301 ???? Wtf was I thinking) I started painting again in the new year and I am really enjoying it (again). I have put about 50 odd models in the spreadsheet but will add to it later this month I have avoided big box pledges this year as that is not how I paint and I wasn’t enjoying it. I also intend to go back to my Mantic Vanguard Project too as I enjoyed that.

Thanks again to Mr @lawnor for running this again. Thanks mate, your blood is fit for bottling (and your painting is prettu good too)

    Bottling?  Should I be afraid?

This looks exactly like what I’m looking for; a bunch of Internet people keeping me accountable for my hobby, thanks @lawnor for setting this up (no sarcasm was intended in this sentence, really 😉 )….

I haven’t done much (hobby-wise) since early November 2019 (which as a whole wasn’t very productive for me either), when my third daughter was born, but now I’m getting to grips with new schedule and I can see some gaps where I can push my hobby time into.

Having said that, I pledge the following:

    1.      Paint 7 minis per month (on average through the year) to my normal standard,

    2.      Push myself with new technics or super quality on no less than 5 minis (out of 84 previously pledged) this year,

    3.      Finish terrain for my gaming tables started in 2019: Frostgrave  (about 95% done – needs some snow on top of some buildings and maybe couple pieces of scatter terrain) and Infinity space ship interior table (I consider it done but still have a bunch of ideas on how to make it better).

    4.      Not to buy a single miniature until first wave of Diffiance KS hits my doorstep, with exclusion for: limited edition minis which may be difficult to grab afterwards, minis needed for starter force in some new game I may start playing (now I don’t play any).

    5.      Not to take part in any Kickstarter.

    Bonus pledges:

    6.      Take part in at least 2 hobby contests or challenges,

    7.      Learn new 3d design tool – Sketchp I’m using now gets more and more cumbersome without updates and I hate it’s web version.

Thanks @lawnor for posting again – I’ve stood on the sidelines watching these threads for a few years now but I think this year it is time to get in the game.

    2020 Pledge:

    1. Paint it or Punt it – take a long hard look at my models and be honest about the chances of playing those games. Get rid of everything that is superfluous and create a spreadsheet of everything else to start painting. The end goal is a 100% painted collection but I’m not going to commit to that this year (or at least until I’ve taken inventory!)

    2. Make terrain – over the last year my flat has become the base for our RPG games and I’d like to get enough terrain that it can be the same for our miniatures games. I really enjoy making terrain and I enjoy not having to leave my house ?

    3. “Help” more people into the hobby. Last year I tried a group of friends on MESBG and they loved it but I didn’t follow through. This year I want to help get new players in to the hobby whether that’s by providing armies or teaching them how to paint their own. I’m very fortunate to have nerdy friends, it seems a shame not to corrupt them.

    4. Get an army ready and the confidence to go to some tournaments for MESBG or Star Wars Legion.

    5. Hobby for 30 minutes a day at least 25 days put of every month. That works out at 150 hours over the year minimum.

@ninjilly If you want a spreadsheet to track what you have, and what is and is not painted, here’s a version of the one I use.  Someone else made it and I found it online, but I’ve developed it a bit since. It still has my collection in it so make a copy, delete my data and add your own and it’ll start giving you useful easy to read data on the front page.  This is a copy, not my actual version so don’t worry about accidentally ruining my copy.  If you like it but it doesn’t make sense at first glance feel free to ask questions.  Or feel free to ignore it and start your own, of course.  A spreadsheet like this also has the added advantage of being something you can tinker with at work that looks like work at a quick glance.

    February check in.

    2020 Pledge:

    1. Paint it or Punt it – I managed to catalogue everything I have an sort it mostly for what is going without any problems. Didn’t manage to get to selling anything yet and very little paint got put on anything.

    2. Make terrain – two separate terrain projects started for Legion but neither got particularly far.

    3. “Help” more people into the hobby – Convinced a friend to get the Star Wars Legion Clone Core and split it with me so we can teach h8m how to paint minis and build his very first army. Someone else is joining in with the painting part in the coming month I think.

    4. Get an army ready and the confidence to go to some tournaments for MESBG or Star Wars Legion – No real progress

    5. Hobby for 30 minutes a day at least 25 days put of every month – this failed miserably! Don’t even have an excuse as I have been signed off pretty much all month.

I’m up and running and am trying to get pictures along the way this time, having totally failed to do that last year.  Here are the first two, a wagon and some sheep:1 sheep and wagon

My 2020 pledge is to paint more than I buy this year.

https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1480457/  is were I am keeping count.

Although the kickstarters were bought last your I am counting them as they arrived  this year and I will probably end up buying in to a kickstarter that arrives next year! lol

Thats my minimum goal each year and I always think of it more as “Have less painted at the end of the year than at the start” so KS stuff counts from when it arrives in my hands, selling stuff affects the count, 2nd hand painted models don’t count, and people giving me unexpected stuff mid December can really screw with my progress when it’s almost too late to do anything about it (Thanks, Simon! 😉 ).

    Good luck, and welcome aboard!
